for some reason my title isn't updating, even though i updated it last night to say 6/9, p.9. i e-mailed support about it so i'm waiting to hear back from them. anyway, this thread has been updated.....see page 9!

:cool1: Another update! Good stuff! You three look like your having a blast!

No naked people today? :lmao:

Wonderful update! Loved the World of Disney!!! I would love to have that Beauty and the Beast painting!!! I'm also sure I could never afford it! St. Patrick's was beautiful!

I couldn't say anything yesterday because I didn't know for sure...but I interviewed and got the job today at............

The World of Disney store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am beyond excited. Wanna come up for another trip and visit me at work? :lmao:

Congrats!!! My friend Andy works at the WOD and always says its a lot of fun. Good luck!

That happened to me before, Dawn - I don't know why. Did you meet up with Scott? I hope you didn't have a buzz this time!:rotfl2:

Scott, it's so cool you know your way around all those places - it's so overwhelming to me, I have to say I'm really scared to go to NYC!

St Patricks's looks "WOW". Yea! for the WOD store. I am so upset that we don't have a disney store in our area anymore but the WOD store looks a lot nicer than anything we have had here.

Your visit to St. Patricks made me laugh, not because it was funny, but because it reminded me of a funny story. My friend and I were making our way through Europe, and we happened to end up in Budapest. While there, we decided to visit the largest synagogue in Europe, second largest in the world they said! We asked them where the largest was, they told us it was in NY. My friend nad I burst out laughing. We came all this way to see this giant synagogue, only to find the largest one was in our own backyard! I've lived in NY my whole life, and I've never been to St Patricks.

I'm convinced tourists see more of NY than native NYers. The only reason I've ever been to the Empire State Building or WTC or Ellis Island is because we went there on class trips. When it's in your backyard, it's just not that interesting, lol.

OMG I haven't been inside St. Patricks Cathedral in such a long time, I forgot how gorgeous it is in there! The architecture is just out of this world, so beautiful!

Yummmm a NY dirty water dog, they're the best. I hope you tried a pretzel and a bagel now to make the food part of the trip complete haha Isn't WoD great? Its just so big and really just gives you that little Disney fix you need ;)

Dawn your trip on 5th avenue sounds a lot like ours. But add rain, lots and lots of rain. So unfortunately St Patrick's Cathedral was kinda dark without the sunlight coming through the beautiful stained glass windows. Your pictures are so amazing, I'm glad you enjoyed the cathedral.

We also went into Trump Tower, we love the Apprentice so it was cool to see the building. My DH bought a All Star jacket at the Nike store in the Trump Tower, as you may remember the AS game was at Yankee Stadium last summer. My DS was able to get tickets, so back to NYC went my DH, DS and two friends. They had such a great time.

I love the Disney store in NYC:love: It is owned by Disney so they have many of the same things as at WDW, but also so many cool NY themed items. I did not notice the elevator, that is so cool! So much detail and you took some awesome pictures. I also loved the window displays, I wish the Chicago store was the same, hmmmm maybe since the sale of the Disney store things have changed?:confused3

The three of you look so cute in your sundresses, how great that the weather was so beautiful.

Wow, this was a great update! :thumbsup2

The WoD store looks so cool! It's just too bad we can't take certain things home on the plane anymore. :guilty:

All caught up. I'm not really a "city" kind of gal but you certainly make it look fun. So jealous you ate at Mesa Grill. I love Bobby Flay and southwestern food and spices. World of Disney looks so cool! :)

Oh WOW!!! St. Patrick's Cathedral looks amazing!!!!!

I really want to go ice skating in front of Rockefeller center!!

Man, I could drop some loot in that Disney store!!!:lmao:

it was so pretty. i want to go ice skating there too except that i'm a klutz and would probably kill myself doing it. :rolleyes1

My husband's graduation ceremony was at St Patrick's. It really is beautiful! You guys didn't go into FAO?? It's neat in there!

oh, that's awesome! i bet that ceremony was unbelievable. i'm not done....you'll have to see!

Oh my DD would have flipped out over the AG place store. She loves them. She has 7 dolls so far and of course that's not enough. :rolleyes1 If I get to NYC for her birthday I'm gonna take her there and let her do some shopping. :goodvibes

My kids are loving this TR! Of course they want to go to NYC even more!

my best friend from high school has an 8yo DD who asked for one for christmas. when melanie (my friend) found out how much they were she almost flipped. she told megan (her DD) that if that's what she wanted, that would be all she got. megan said that was fine so that's what she got. i saw it at christmas and it was like a regular doll! i don't understand why they're so expensive. but i'm not an 8yo girl so i guess that's why i don't "get" it. i hope you get to take the kids to NYC soon. it's really fun!

Great update Dawn! Your pics of Rockefeller Center are great! Looks like you felt at home when you found the Disney Store!:thumbsup2

I don't know why there are codes for my posts. I don't see them on this side :confused3

thanks! oh, yes. disney definitely was calling my name! about the codes, i don't know either. it's like font and color codes or something. very strange!

An elevator that gives you a weather forcast?!!
How cool

St. Patricks is gorgeous! I would love to see it someday..

yeah, if it had been accurate! :rotfl2: st. patrick's was one of the many highlights. it was unbelievable.

I'm so glad you liked Rockefeller Center! It's my favorite part of the city, along with Central Park. I have so many amazing memories from 30 Rock :goodvibes: And isn't St.Patrick's Cathedral gorgeous?!!! My grandparents renewed their vows for their 50th anniversary there last May and it was amazing.

I had no idea there aren't any characters at the WOD anymore! The last time I was there was last July and I brought my cousin to take pictures with Goofy and Statue of Liberty Minnie. We usually only went in their for the characters so I probably won't bother going back for a while. Crazy!

That little band is so cute... but I can't imagine someone sending their kids out onto the street to collect cash. Oh lord :lmao:

Can't wait to hear about Ellen's! I know Kristen hated it but we always loved it and thought it was fun. Granted we haven't been there since 2007 so I hope it didn't go downhill!

we saw more of rockefeller center when we went to top of the rock the next night. we really didn't see much of it though. something for next time! and yes, st. patrick's is absolutely gorgeous! i was in awe. yeah, i was disappointed about the characters. i guess they have to cut back in this economy too. :confused3 i thought the same thing about that kid band but i guess to each his own! ellen's is comin' up!

Loving the report so far. I use hopstop when I need to go somewhere on the subway and have no clue. Thankfully now we have a car so I use that more. :lmao:

I have never been inside the cathedral so thanks for posting.

I want to try Bobby's restaurant one day. We ate at his other one but it has closed down.

Love our Disney store only becuase we can get park merch, though now you can get it online.

H&M is not for me. I just never liked that store.

Looking forward to more.

oh, i think i'd be more comfortable using the subway! the 3 times i was in a car in NYC i was praying for my life. the drivers there are INSANE! i wouldn't be able to get anywhere because i'm too nice and won't cut anyone off. next time you're nearby and have time go inside the cathedral. the pictures don't do it justice. i like H&M if i'm in the mood to shop. it's one of those places you have to really look through stuff to find what you want. so if i'm not in a shopping mood forget it.

Oooh, now I feel bad!!

Our hotel in January was about a block away from St Patrick's Cathedral, and we walked past it 6 times a day! I am Catholic and we didn't even think about going in to visit!!! :rolleyes1 I remember stumbling past it after having too many cocktails on New Years Eve, but ummmm, whoops!!! We never went in!!

We did go into the Disney store though!! Yayyyyy!! Except when we went, we had to line up to get in! That's how crazy busy everything was over New Years. The line didn't last long though, so it was okay. But inside were so many people, you could hardly move. It was nuts! Still fun, but nuts! :scared1:

Also, we went into Trump Tower, just to use the bathroom!! Hehee!

Your hot dog looks delicious!! Sorry to hear about your voice, what a bummer!!

(Gosh, I used lots of exclamation marks in this message, didn't I!?)

just add st. patrick's to your "next time" list! ;) that's crazy how busy the disney store was. it was crowded but nothing like that when we went. don't worry....i like exclamation points too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made it over from the Christmas TR! Looks like you 3 had an AWESOME time! I can't believe you got to see the Naked Cowboy!!! I've been to NYC a few times and I'm always on the lookout for him,but no luck so far(I'm easily amused by the strangest of things)

thanks for reading! well, he just mosied on past us like it was nothing. i almost missed him except for seeing a dude in his tightie whities and i was like, "OH, HELLO!!!!" :lmao:

i think it is funny that in the band the youngest is the drummer and he is the closest to the road, looks like he was almost out in traffic.

maybe he's like a distant second cousin or something. :rotfl2:

Your pictures of NYC are great. They make me really want to go see it all for myself. One day I will.

it was a great place to visit....that's for sure! we didn't even make a dent there.

:cool1: Another update! Good stuff! You three look like your having a blast!

No naked people today? :lmao:

thanks. we were! and no, thank goodness!

Wonderful update! Loved the World of Disney!!! I would love to have that Beauty and the Beast painting!!! I'm also sure I could never afford it! St. Patrick's was beautiful!

thanks! oh, i loved that painting too. beauty & the best is my favorite of the disney "princess" stories.

I couldn't say anything yesterday because I didn't know for sure...but I interviewed and got the job today at............

The World of Disney store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am beyond excited. Wanna come up for another trip and visit me at work? :lmao:

oh, my goodness!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! :dance3: THAT'S SO AWESOME!!!

and i'd definitely love to make another trip. in about 3 years! :rotfl2:

That happened to me before, Dawn - I don't know why. Did you meet up with Scott? I hope you didn't have a buzz this time!:rotfl2:

Scott, it's so cool you know your way around all those places - it's so overwhelming to me, I have to say I'm really scared to go to NYC!

huh? i didn't have a buzz the first time i met scott.....i just had a stomach ache! :rotfl:

St Patricks's looks "WOW". Yea! for the WOD store. I am so upset that we don't have a disney store in our area anymore but the WOD store looks a lot nicer than anything we have had here.

oh, that store was definitely nicer than the standard disney stores in malls. we still have one here but i know a lot of them closed.

Your visit to St. Patricks made me laugh, not because it was funny, but because it reminded me of a funny story. that's so funny! you go all that way and find out the best stuff was here! :rotfl: i know what you mean about not seeing your native city. i live in atlanta and i hear our new aquarium is awesome but we've never been there.

Its just so big and really just gives you that little Disney fix you need ;)

it is sooooooooo beautiful! we had some more yummy food....that's for sure! and world of disney was so awesome.

The three of you look so cute in your sundresses, how great that the weather was so beautiful.

oh, no! i'm so glad it didn't rain on us. especially that day because we walked alot. cool about the trump tower. i've never watched that show so i didn't have a whole lot of interest in the place. yeah, that disney store is so neat! oh, i had on pants that day. but thanks! the fact that i was wearing pants will be important in the next installment....:rolleyes1

Wow, this was a great update! :thumbsup2

The WoD store looks so cool! It's just too bad we can't take certain things home on the plane anymore. :guilty:

thanks! yeah, that's so weird about the snow globes. anna didn't know and she bought luke one at another gift shop but she put it in her suitcase so it was okay.

All caught up. I'm not really a "city" kind of gal but you certainly make it look fun. So jealous you ate at Mesa Grill. I love Bobby Flay and southwestern food and spices. World of Disney looks so cool! :)

mesa grill was sooooooo yummy!

Awesome you got a Disney fix...our store closed down last year :sad2:

yeah, that store was great! the one at the mall i frequent is still open but i hear a lot of them closed. bummer!

so after our afternoon snack we decided to go check out the apple store. it's really cool! it's a clear building that just sort of rises out of the concrete and the whole store is underground.

DSC01280.jpg

we took the stairs down and once we got downstairs and looked up we realized that brooke and anna were wearing dresses and whoever was standing directly under them when they were coming down the stairs got an eye full! OOPS!!!!!! :rotfl2:

DSC01282.jpg

i was glad i was wearing pants that day. :rolleyes1

we looked around a little and it was just like any other apple store only bigger. really cool building though.

anna took this while i was waiting for the elevator back up. i look mad!

DSC01283.jpg

on the way up in the elevator there was a man standing in front of me that stunk SO BAD!!!!!! i had to hold my breath.

anyway, after that we decided to head over to FAO schwartz to check it out. we posed with the soldier out front but i think i blinked.

DSC01286.jpg

this place was really cool!!! we were greeted by the harry potter characters made out of legos.

DSC01288.jpg

i loved this bag!

DSC01289.jpg

my mom called me while i was walking around the candy section and asked, "what are you girls doing this lovely day in new york city?" i said, "looking at candy at FAO schwartz." she was like, "you're in new york and you're at a toy store looking at candy? figures." :rotfl2:

they had a "muppet whatnot workshop" where you could build your own muppet (kinda like build-a-bear). i thought it was so cool!

DSC01290.jpg

i took this for heather. IT'S THE ONE RING!!!!!!!!!! :worship:

DSC01293.jpg

my precious.........:lmao:

they also had a harry potter section that was really cute. look - quality quidditch supplies!

DSC01294.jpg

in the barbie section there was a fashion show going on....

DSC01296.jpg

brooke decided to make her own barbie....

DSC01297.jpg

we looked around for the piano that tom hanks dances on in "big" but we never did find it. i guess they got rid of it?

when we finally forced ourselves to leave we crossed the street and found this guy performing. all his drums are made out of trash-like items. i thought he was REALLY good!

DSC01300.jpg

it was about 2:30 at that point and we were starting to get hungry so we decided to head towards ellen's stardust diner for lunch. on the way anna drooled over some bling on fifth avenue.

DSC01303.jpg

:rotfl:

we also saw radio city music hall on the way.....

DSC01304.jpg

continued in next post: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=32261830&postcount=158

we made it to ellen's!

DSC01310.jpg

if you don't know anything about ellen's, it's a diner in the theater district where all the servers take turns singing show tunes. they announce at certain points during your time there that they are all aspiring actors/broadway performers and need money for singing/acting lessons to get out of that diner and onto the stage and then they pass around a bucket. i knew we'd enjoy the cheesy theatrical aspect of it!

there was no wait and we got sat right away. this guy was performing as we sat down.....

DSC01311.jpg

he ended up being our server! :thumbsup2

the entire time we were there servers kept walking on that tiny divider behind the booths and i just knew one of them would fall, but they never did.

DSC01313.jpg

here's a guy performing. watch the ending.....it's hilarious!

we all ordered water and me and brooke gave anna our lemon (on top of the extra lemon she had already gotten - she loves lemons!) and this is what her drink ended up looking like....

DSC01316.jpg

i like lemon but i've worked in a restaurant and it grosses me out to think who cuts those lemons and if they've washed their hands or not, so i never get lemon with anything i drink.

i got a burger with mushrooms and swiss cheese......

DSC01317.jpg

anna got the oscar burger - topped with asparagus and lump crab....

DSC01318.jpg

brooke got the blue suede burger - topped with maytag blue cheese and apple smoked bacon.....

DSC01319.jpg

our burgers were good. i figured if we stuck with the basics we should be good....kinda like sci-fi dine-in theater! i was gonna get a shake but i was too full when i was done. the service was kinda slow but the servers are too busy singing to really be attentive! it's part of the charm.

on the other side of the little wall next to our both and to the left was a booth of 6 younger girls and we found out that one of them was celebrating her 16th birthday. behind them, and to our right was a booth with 2 adult couples. watch this to see the server singing to the booth with the 2 adult couples......

the couple closest to me, with the brown hair, were ALL OVER each other and it was getting really obnoxious. you should've seen the 16yo girls gawking at them. i started to notice the guy was sweating really badly and then i saw how much they were drinking and realized they were just tanked. anna tried to get them making out in this picture but they stopped right before she took it. :rotfl:

DSC01322.jpg

but then it got really obnoxious when one of the servers went by singing and had a tamborine and he grabbed it from her and started playing it and dancing around. you should've seen the poor server's face. she was so livid and was trying to be nice but he was just being an :eeyore:! i'm all for having a few drinks and having fun but don't be rude to people who are just doing their jobs and make a spectacle of yourself!

of course miss flash camera herself snapped a picture.

DSC01325.jpg

after that he and his girlfriend/wife/drinking buddy decided to get up and dance. NOBODY else in the entire place was doing it but i guess nobody else was drunk at 3:00 in the afternoon either!

DSC01327.jpg

they left soon after that and we were glad. they were totally annoying.

we had started a conversation with a couple sitting on the other side of us who ended up being the aunt of the girl who was having the 16th birthday. when the server came out to sing to her it was really cute! anna offered to take their picture and her aunt was so nice and thanked us for doing that. :goodvibes

what an awesome way to celebrate your 16th birthday!!!!!!

that's all for now. up next......NO ONE MOURNS THE WICKED!!!!!!!!!!!! :stir:

What fun shopping!!! And I want to go eat at Ellen's :upsidedow

To bad you had to be SO close to the drunk people :headache:

Drummer dude was really cool....I could stand and listen to that all day!
