The Executive Office of Walt Disney World sure was busy on Tuesday. I saw a couple posts on the Internet (Dis and OurLaughingPlace among them) from people claiming to have received a phone call from someone in the Executive Office of Walt Disney World. I found that odd since I, too, had received a phone call from them on Tuesday. Hhmmmm. Busy little beavers, weren’t they. (Note: I have received phone calls from them in the past.) Obviously what the nice lady in the Executive Office stated to me was true – Disney has received a lot of correspondence lately from guests and they are playing catch-up in their attempt to address each of them.

Of the folks who posted on this topic on the Internet, I remember that one of them stated that their complaint to Disney was regarding the poor WDW bus transportation that they had encountered during their recent stay. The Executive Office person who called them stated that their complaint had been received, but that someone else would be contacting them about it (this person thought it truly Disney to have someone call them to tell them that someone else was going to call them regarding their complaint). Someone else posted that they received a call regarding their complaint with a problem that they had encountered with Housekeeping during their recent Contemporary Resort stay. That person wasn’t too happy with the response that they got, however. I received my phone call regarding an e-mail letter that I had sent to Al Weiss (Walt Disney World Resort President) regarding the misinformation that Disney had on their websites (plural), among other issues (does anyone remember the recent valet parking thread?). I would love to post here what I sent to Mr. Weiss, but it was a not-so-nice letter on my part (I was extremely frustrated with the misinformation that Disney had within their power to easily correct). I must say, though, that the woman who called me assured me that Mr. Weiss had indeed seen my letter and that he had taken action upon it. I honestly believed her because my letter was rather forceful and when I realized late last week that I had not heard back from Disney regarding it (they are usually very good in getting back to you within 48 hours and I had sent my message a week or two prior), I checked the Disney website for one of the issues that I was complaining about and was pleasantly surprised to see that the issue had been fixed. That proved to me that someone at Disney (hopefully Mr. Weiss) had received my letter and had taken it seriously. Either that or they had read my post here on the Dis (here’s the link to that particular thread: http://64.225.125.24/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57973&perpage=15&pagenumber=3 ) where I stated, “Dear Mr. Weiss, get off your fricking butt and get the Walt Disney World website corrected so that guests who are arriving very SOON will know about the new valet parking policy.” (I never underestimate the power of the Internet.)

Did you know that it is true that Disney keeps a database containing guests’ correspondence with them? The woman who I spoke with actually quoted one of my recent messages to them from about a month or two ago (regarding the Villains character dinner cancellation – it was one of my more funny e-mail messages to Disney). I was impressed because that meant that Disney did exactly what I requested that they do when they received my letter – look through my prior vacation history with them as well as my prior correspondence history with them to see that I am both their greatest fan and their biggest fear. This woman did her “research” on me before she placed that phone call to me. It pleased me to know that Disney does take guests’ complaints very seriously.

Say what you will about Disney but they sure get excellent marks from me in regards to guests’ correspondence and their handling of it. The woman who I spoke with from the Executive Office was most kind and very good at handling my complaint. She did not talk down to me nor make me feel as if my complaint were not valid. She assured me that all of my issues were being addressed and that most of them had already been taken care of (which I knew from what I found out during my own “research” work late last week). I will have to sit down and write a nice letter about her and her handling of my complaint. Too bad I did not write down her last name when she gave it to me over the telephone, but I’m sure Disney will be able to track her down so I’m not worried in the least.

Was her name Maria? She was very helpful and had done her research on me too!:) I got my call 2 Tuesday's ago! The Magic of Disney lives on in CM's like her!

Tuesday must be "call back day" B-) I got a very nice call about a question I had about the pin event. She didn't have all then answere, but she did have mos of them, and promised to call me back. Now THAT'S the Disney that I remember and I'm glad to see it back.

I'm glad to hear that others have had a good response from Disney, too. The woman who called me was named "Kim," and I did write a nice letter about her handling of my complaint the very same day that I started this thread. At least I hope her name was Kim (!!). But like I said before, I know that Disney will be able to figure out EXACTLY who called me since they have their "database" full of all sorts of info such as that.

Wonderlandmom, please share with me how you knew that the person who called you had done their "research" on you. I am very curious. I know that they did their research on me before they called me because (a) I had requested in my letter that they search through their archives (even though I was only assuming that they had such a thing) to find out what kind of Disney fan or foe I was, and (B) she proved to me that she had done just that by quoting a prior correspondence of mine before I even asked her to. (I hope that makes sense!) Like I mentioned before, in the past I have had a phone call or two from the Executive Offices, but no one ever alluded to the fact as to whether or not they were capable of “tracking” a WDW guest before. Now if only they would put that “tracking” info to good use by giving me (a) the room view I like, (b) the bed pillows I like, (c) the concierge Cast Members I like, and so on (hee hee).

JudySue, please let us know if Disney does indeed follow-through with you. I, too, am glad to see some of the "old" Disney coming back.

Hey Janet2K!

Just came across this post. Although I did not receive any calls with regard to correspondece that I sent, I did get a personal response from Erin Wallace (VP of the MK) to a letter which I'd sent (via "snail mail"), a few weeks ago! It was evident that she, or someone in her office, had read my original letter because many points which I'd raised were mentioned within the body of her letter.
