Might as well start something so I can vent my excitement about our upcoming trip!
We are taking our son, nieces, and nephew to Disney World in June. Our son (6) has been twice before, but my nephew (10) and nieces (12 and 17) have never been. Their parents divorced several years ago, and my brother in law has custody. He has remarried, and the kids have had some recent issues regarding their bio mother (who rarely visits and is pregnant with another man's child right now). Our family had planned on going in June, but we decided that it would be even more fun to take our nephew and nieces with us. My brother in law and his second wife are debating about whether they are going with us or not.
The kids know nothing except that we are going on a trip together. I think we are telling them we're going someplace in Georgia. We are driving straight through from Ohio, leaving late at night so they sleep most of the way. When we cross into Florida, one of us will say "Oh, we've gone too far...stop at the next exit." (hoping it's a Welcome to Florida rest stop)
Get everyone out of the car to stretch and have a potty break. Have some bickering between the adults about getting lost, then get out a folded map of Florida to ask the kids to find out where we are and tell them the first one to find the road we missed on the map will get $10. When they open the map, it will say "Surprise! We're going to DisneyWorld!" in bold black marker. Then I have a backpack for each of them full of things they will need for the trip to hand each of them, including a Mickey aluminum water bottle, fastpass lanyard/ticket holder, Mickey ears, rain ponchos, etc.
Debating about whether we should all slap on Mickey ears when they look down at the map so when they look up, we're standing there looking like idiots to embarass them. lol.
These kids have never had a vacation centered completely around them and what they want to do. The 17 year old was watching tv with her dad a few nights ago and saw a Disney World commercial. She said "I've always wanted to go there but I guess I won't until I'm older."
