Excited and Disappointed

Excited and disappointed all at the same time.

Excited that we passed ROFR several weeks ago and am in the process of closing on the contract for 154pts at BCV. Was told it might not happen till January due to the holidays.

Disappointed because we received a new member package from Disney today. My points came through from being on the waitlist. I had to call and decline the points. It only took 2 months to receive the points I requested, I was told it could take up to 6 months so I purchased resale. I could of been a member as of today, but unfortunately I have to continue to wait. I'm bummed. My husband told me I sure of waited.

I forgot to call my guide after we passed ROFR in order to remove my name from the waitlist. Disney never called me when I received the points, they just sent me the new member package. Nice tote bag and now I have all DVC member information, but not yet a member..I'm still waiting.

HINDSIGHT, what a wonderful thing. Your husband should have encouraged you more to waite or was he at the time not sure either. You have many years to enjoy disney. Enjoy the holidays, a watched pot never boils.

I totally understand how you feel. We were in a similar position when we were trying to buy BCV. Called a guide who told me that BCV was all sold out, so I went ahead with a resale contract. A week before ROFR, the guide called me and said that we could buy BCV points direct, and with the current years points, it would have been less expensive than buying resale. I felt sick. I couldn't in all good conscience stop the resale purchase, so I hoped to not pass ROFR . Of course, I was one of the few who actually passed at the time, and then I felt very, very sick for quite a while, and I had to wait and wait to close and get into the system and make our first reservation, which then had to be split between two resorts because I missed my home resort window opportunity.

Anyhow, it's water under the bridge now and we are happy and I try not to think about it anymore, so don't worry! We had a great trip home last month and are looking forward to many years of WDW trips! I did help some other disboarders with advice to purchase direct, so I felt better about losing out on my "deal" at the time. A little time, a little money...it all evens out in the end.

I had something similar happen to me. I called to add on points at BWV a couple years ago and my guide told me it would be a very long time. So I purchased a resale. Sure enough I got the call that the points came in.

Congratulations on passing ROFR and you will be in the system and booking trips before you know it!

Thanks everyone for the kind wishes. I'll be a member soon enough. I was just disappointed when the package arrived with my new member contract that I had to turn down. My biggest problem is I have trouble waiting, my husband tells me this all the time. He told me that Disney would come through but I didn't want to wait several months. So I decided to go resale when I saw the same type of contract through the TSS that I was wait listed for through Disney. Same number of pts, same price per pt, so I felt like I couldn't lose. Except now I have to wait for closing to be complete, when I could already be in the system as a member. Like I said I have trouble waiting.
