Excited about Boma...should I be?

I think it is, for both breakfast and dinner. My kids prefer the breakfast, I prefer the dinner. But....we are adventurous eaters. You have to be willing to try different types of food and spices to enjoy the full experience in my opinion.

I recently had dinner there and was completely blown away. There was a lot of varitey and honestly I enjoyed everything I tried.

I thought it was, but I figured it was safer to lower my expectations before I went so I wouldn't be disappointed. :)

This is my all time favorite Disney place to eat. The food is so good here. It's different and I think that is what is appealing. There is so much to choose from I think everyone can usually find something they like here. Plus the desserts are fabulous here!

I don't know if you should be.. but we are eating there for the first time and I am STOKED!

I am NOT a buffet person, but from the first time we went to Boma (because of the DIS), we've been hooked. The variety and tastes are wonderful and we love AKL to look around when we're done. When we each choose a restaurant to eat at during a trip, Boma is the first answer I get when I ask my DS13... And the desserts are fabulous :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I'v eonly had dinner there but absolutely loved it!! It's my favorite restaurant now and I can't wait to go back!

That said, I really don't know what your tastes are...I love trying different and new things (even if I wind up not liking it).

Yep, you sure should be. I expected to not like it and I absolutely loved it. The only problem I had was not having enough room to try everything. I just couldn't stuff it all in! That's why I'll have to go back again this year.

Boma is one of my favorites at WDW and so far it is the ONLY buffet that I like at WDW. We go every trip.

Boma is one of those places you either love or hate. If you don't like to try new things, you won't enjoy it, but if you are open to trying new items, you should like it.

Here's just a few tips:

1. When you go up to the buffet, don't load up on just one thing, get small amounts of many different things and "taste test" to see what you like and want to go back and get more of. (You might have to make 2 trips for "taste testing")...

2. Pace yourself... there's lots of foods, and you might want to overinduldge to try everything... but you gotta save room for desserts! Mmmm Zebra Domes (but be cautioned, they do contain alcohol!!!).. I love them so much I could get drunk off eating them! :lmao:

3. Definately try the prime rib and the different sauces.

4. If you just aren't liking it... there's always the regular "kid" type buffet where you can load up on chicken fingers! :goodvibes

Hope you enjoy!!!

Oh, and this reminds me.. I need to figure out which night I want to do dinner at Boma in October...

We didn't like it, in part because we had very high expectations based on reviews here. Had we had lower expectations, we'd probably have enjoyed it just fine and go back. It was the most disappointing experience I've had at Disney.

It is a good, unusual and extensive buffet. But like most buffets, the food isn't "kitchen fresh." If you don't like buffets as a rule (I don't) this one wasn't going to change my mind. If you like buffets, this is probably the best one at WDW. (We actually prefer the Biergarten, but it has more to do with location, entertainment, and the fact that I can eat a pound of speatzle - most people like Boma better).

I'm going to Boma for the first time in August, and this thread has me even more excited than I already was. Then again, I love food, so any new restaurant excites me!

I think most people disagree with the above. The food is "kitchen fresh". It is just plain gorgeous! It is the favorite of EVERYONE in my "party of 6" that includes adults and teenagers. I personally am very, very picky, and do NOT like many TS restaurants at WDW (Liberty Tree Tavern, CRT) that people rave about. Boma has been my favorite at WDW since it opened. :cheer2:

I'm sure I will not be wasting one of my TS to eat at Biergarten either!

I liked Biergarten, too, but Boma's food isn't like any restaurant here at home, DH loved the prime rib, and there was much more on the buffet that's vegetarian. Honestly, I thought Biergarten's desserts were much better--Boma's food in general is better than Biergarten, but the desserts are overrated.

I think that many people would also agree with Crisi... I mean there were some items on the Boma buffet that I tried and thought had dried out-one of the fish dishes. But on my next trip to the bar a fresh batch was out and i tried it again and loved it. I know I can tell that it isn't "fresh" from the kitchen and brought to your table; however, I still enjoy the food. I think on the whole, Boma does one of the best jobs in keeping the foods as fresh as possible... not like others (H&V) where I struggled to find anything on the buffet that I could eat that wasn't old, dry and yucky!

I haven't tried Biergarten, but I might have to one day. I like some german food but not a huge fan, and DP doesn't seem too keen to German food either.

Just wondering if Boma is as great as I think it will be. ;)

We don't care for it, but don't let that stop you. Try it and make up your own mind about it. There are plenty of folks who enjoy it.

And EVERYONE in our party of six was disappointed - four adults, two children. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Not everyone does. We would have enjoyed it far more had we had reasonable expectations, so unqualified praise such as yours can backfire.

I think you should be excited to eat at Boma coss its something a bit different and its about the dinning experience as well as the food. We eat at Boma every trip now, this year we are eating there for 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts (we are staying at AKL). I enjoy breakfast best but dinner is yummy too. Also it has a nice smell lol.

Just thought of a tip that i use while at Boma - keep an eye on the kitchen and buffet, then when fresh food is put out you can get to it as soon as its put out. Also if you want to try something but there's only a tiny bit left, leave it till your next plate full (lol) because by then they should have put a fresh one out.
