I was wondering if anyone had exchanged your points for a weeks vacation with Interval? We are thinking about doing that for a week in St Maartin. Any help would be appreciated.

We've done it a couple of times, but not to St. Maarten. We didn't have any problems with our trades and were quite happy with the accommodations. Just called MS, told them where and when we wanted to go. They told us what resorts were available and then I spent a day or so researching them. Called back and told them which one I wanted.

I'm sure that with more popular destinations, especially depending on the time of year, it might not be quite that easy to get what you want.

You should recognize that trading is not the wisest use of your points from a financial standpoint. If you're OK with that, as we are, then trading can be a nice way to get a different vacation experience.

St. Martin/Maarteen has too much inventory and the resort quality is too low to make exchanging DVC a great value. You'd be better off looking for a package deal or renting privately. The only possible exception would be for Xmas to Easter for a 1 BR or larger for someone set on going to that area and had plenty of points to do so.

Thanks for the input. We are looking to do something diferent. Possibly the family will be coming along so we are looking for a 2 bdrm. However even if it's just us we'll have a 1 bdrm so we can have the kitchen.

I'm not sure what different is for you. I'd suggest the Marriott's on St. Thomas or St. Kitt's, Reef or Grand Caymanian on Cayman's, Marriott's and possibly Playa Linda or Costa Linda on Aruba or the Royal's in Cancun as some of the nicer options. Atlantis and the Westin ST. John are also top choices but too hard to get to make them something to count on. Some of them are more likely to yield a 2 BR than others.
