We had just bought a new grill today, and I am very excited to use it. So today's QOTD is-

Do you own a grill? If so, what type is it, and feel free to share your favorite things to grill.

A grill is what we call a barbeque. We have one but never use it. My mum and dad have a great one so we have all our BBQs there. We are not very adventurous. We usually have burgers, sausages, lamb kebabs, chinese pork, cajun chicken, lemon chicken and steak.

What do you grill?

I love using the grill! We grill just about anything--one favorite is to marinate and grill flank steak. I found a new recipe where you put a garlic rub on a big sirloin steak and grill it --that's dinner tonight. I like to grill thick slices of veggies, too.

I just watched Bobby Flay grill peaches and make a cobbler on the grill the other day--might have to try that, too!

Right now I am looking for a paraprofessional job in our local schools. I have my teaching certificates for elementary and special ed. but I am going to take full time classes to get my masters. I don't want the added work of being a first year teacher and full time student plus have time for DH and DS 15 months. Eventually I'll be a media specialist (librarian). Yay!!

We have a gas grill and a charcoal grill. Also a smoker. We grill mostly on the weekends, steak, hamburgers, chicken, pork chops. We smoke briskets and ribs.

If you were to find a job, or get a new job what would you like to do?
Oh, I don't know, something that wouldn't require a lot of hard thinking or bring home with me. I work out of the house now and it's like I never leave my job. But the benefits are I can be with my kids (just Carol now) and volunteer at school.

Good for you.
My DD just finished up a master's program in teaching. She did a 2 year program in 1 and it was such hard work!
But she has her first teaching job and reports for orientation the 23rd.
Good luck.

Me....if I was young again :rotfl: I would become a pastry chef. I love to cook and bake.
I love the job I have now, however. I just stay home and do what I want :teeth: Of course, the pay is nonexistent :(

We also have a gas and a charcoal grill and a smoker :teeth:
We are selling them all in a yard sale in a few weeks and buying new when we move.

We grill hot dogs, hamburgers, steak, shish kabobs, corn, chicken
Smoke turkey legs, pork for pulled pork, brisket
When we lose power, I get more adventursome and have grilled pizza and some other things ;)

Nancy congratulations to your daughter, and good luck to her with her new job.

BridetobeDisney, good luck with your masters.

My youngest will be one month short of being two years old tomorrow :(, and is growing up very fast.

For those of you who have kids, what are some party themes that you have done?

For those of you who do not have kids, what birthday party themes did you have growing up?

Part two of todays QOTD is-
What type of party foods do you usually serve for birthday parties?

No party themes growing up. We just had the neighborhood kids over for cake and ice cream.

No party themes for my kids either. Carol always had sleepovers until her 16th birthday. She had a cupcake cake in the shape of a heart with a tiara in the middle. For her 17th this year she wanted a Transformers cake. It was a big hit with the boys. For both parties we grilled hot dogs, had chips, queso and set out peanut M&M's. There were soft drinks and water for them to drink.

James' parties were a little different. He didn't want one until he was 17. Then the group that he ran around with would go to a restaurant to eat (each person paid for their own meals, they did this at everyone's party) and then come back for cake and ice cream. Easy stuff!

What is queso?

I like the simpleness of your kids parties. And with James, and his friends paying for their own meal, it makes things so much easier for everyone.

That is great! What grade will she be teaching. I loved my internship with first grade. That's my favorite grade. I think that if I don't find a parapro job then I'll sub as much as I can. A certified sub makes $60 a day. That's not bad and I get to pick the days I work. I interviewed twice for a job at a private school and it's now been a week since the second interview and I haven't heard anything.

Thanks Mommytotwo!! I'm nervous but I think if I can get through the educ. program for my B.S. I will be fine getting my masters.

If I were to dress up for halloween I would either be ariel (in the pink dress) or belle (in the yellow evening gown). But before I could be either one I'd have to lose like 70 lbs!! LOL I still haven't lost the baby weight, yuck! :sad2:

She is teaching 5th grade. That is what she student taught also. It is what she wants.
We'll see. I would like her to get the certifications for math and science and teach those ;)
Good luck to you.

If you were moving into a new neighborhood, and if one of your neighbors were to bring you a moving in gift, what would you like to, and not like to recieve?

If you were to find a job, or get a new job what would you like to do?

I'm a Guide Dog for the Blind puppywalker currently walking my first pup, Lyle. It's great fun and very rewarding do so I might like to see if I can get some paid work with them at some point in the future.

My youngest will be one month short of being two years old tomorrow :(, and is growing up very fast.

For those of you who have kids, what are some party themes that you have done?

As my DDs birthdays are around Halloween we usually have 2 Halloween parties. We have also had a pamper party for my oldest DD where she and a few friends spent the whole day lazing around using foot spas and doing each others hair and makeup.

One of the best parties I ever went to as a child was themed as a Tramps Supper Party. It was basically a BBQ but we had to go in our oldest and tattiest clothes - I wore a top hat with patches stuck on it too - and it was so much fun to be able to get as dirty as you liked!

Part two of todays QOTD is-
What type of party foods do you usually serve for birthday parties?

Our Halloween party food is always gruesome sounding and fun to do but for regular parties, just regular food.

If you were to dress up for Halloween, what would you be?

I love dressing up as a mummy. I'd really like a good mummy costume. Over here we tend to dress up more scary for Halloween.

If you were moving into a new neighborhood, and if one of your neighbors were to bring you a moving in gift, what would you like to, and not like to recieve?

Definitley not a plant, they never last here. I have a sweet tooth so some nice home baking would be fab!

What is queso?
Melted Velveeta cheese and rotel mixed together eaten with tortilla chips. Some people add cooked sausage to it and refried beans.

If you were to dress up for Halloween, what would you be?
Oh, I don't know, whatever I found that I liked at the party shop.

If you were moving into a new neighborhood, and if one of your neighbors were to bring you a moving in gift, what would you like to, and not like to recieve?
I would like to receive baked goods or a candle. I would not like to receive a house decoration because I would have to display it even if I didn't like it.

I would opt out on the homemade items, but wouldn't mind recieving a houseplant or something for my garden.

If you were to recieve an edible food item from an online company, what would you choose?
