Name three types of foods/drinks that your state/town is famous for.
I'm not sure that my town is famous for any kind of food or beverage but I'm sure that Texas is known for:

Tex-Mex
Barbeque
Tex-Mex

What is your most favorite type of pasta, and sauce?
Elbow noodles and spaghetti sauce.

Elbow noodles and tomatoes.

Cook your noodles to your liking, drain and add back to hot pot, adding some butter.
Open a can of crushed tomatoes and add to the noodles, stirring until heated through.
That sounds so quick and easy, just right up my alley. I'll have to give it a try.

spaghetti & my homemade sauce!
Want to share your recipe?

Nancy, here's some :tink: to help with the sale of your home.

 Sorry to hear about your pet dzee. We're about to put down our Kirby, my namesake. It's a hard decision to make.

What is your most favorite type of pasta, and sauce?

Pasta--if I'm at a restaurant, gnocchi. If I'm making it, then I prefer penne or some fun shape.

I make my sauce, usually. My Noni would be proud! :goodvibes But during the summer, I love to roast veggies --tomatoes, eggplant, onion, mushroom, garlic and put that over pasta with EVOO and some fresh herbs and parm. Don't think my kids touch that, tho :rotfl:

Here's my (well, really my mom's) recipe for sauce. It takes some time, but is oh-so-worth it! I usually do it on a Saturday, and use that day to do laundry since I'm stuck in the house for a few hours. And it's also family tradition to have meatball heroes for dinner the night we make sauce.

SPAGHETTI SAUCE

10 cans (28 ounce) of crushed tomatoes
5 cans (6 ounce) of tomato paste
10 cloves garlic
Salt
Pepper
Cinnamon
Basil
Oregano

Open cans and empty contents into large pot that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Simmer for ½ hr, and then add salt, pepper, garlic, cinnamon, basil and oregano. Allow mixture to cook for 1 hr. Then add the paste and cook for 1 more hr. Stir every ½ hr. Add cooked meatballs and cook for 1 ½ to 2 hrs. more, at least, and longer is better!

MEATBALLS

3 lbs. beef
Salt
Pepper
Garlic
Parsley flakes
Bread crumbs
Worchester sauce
Parmesan cheese
Water

Mix all ingredients together. Shape into balls and bake in 400 degree oven until well browned, about 45 minutes. Turn every 15 minutes or so.

I also cook sausages in the oven and add them to the sauce. They take about an hour to cook, I turn them every 15 minutes. I cook them in a roasting pan that I’ve lined with foil & sprayed with cooking spray to make clean-up a little easier.

After the sauce is cooled, I portion it into dinner sized portions. For me & dad, that’s 2 sausages or 3 meatballs with 3 ladles of sauce. I freeze the portions in those disposable containers, label with what kind of meat is in there. The sauce thaws overnight in the fridge or for a few hours on the counter. That way, we always have a quick dinner!

Leave out the meat & it makes great marinara sauce. Use ground turkey for your meatball if you like, or turkey sausage, or don't use sausage at all. That's the fun of making your own sauce. And since I cook it so long, I don't need to add sugar to it. Do use the cinnamon, it adds a nice warmth to the sauce that tasters can feel. They won't know it's cinnamon, trust me!

OMG YES! the stuff they sell around here is not edible. :crazy2:
1. Shoofly Pie YUM!

Kirby here is my sauce recipe.

1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 tbsp. garlic, chopped
2 tbsp. butter (no margarine!!)
2 (12oz) cans tomato paste
4 cans water
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. Italian seasoning
1 1/2 lbs. Italian sausage, cooked

Saute in the butter, the onion and garlic.
Add tomato paste and water, stir until no lumps.
Add baking soda, salt and italian seasoning, stir. Let simmer on low 1 hour.
Add italian sausage, and simmer 1 more hour.

I did that with our old house! I felt so bad--I wrapped him up in a plastic bag. they even sell kits now! :lmao: I think he needs to be upside down. I called a local place at the time--it was actually an abbey...didn't know that!...and asked if they sold them. the line went quiet and then the nun said "are you planning to bury that poor man!?" He has a prominent place in my kitchen now.

Sorry for your loss! It's so hard..they're family.

Nancy...it's spring, so maybe that will help your house. pixiedust:

You're right! I forgot he DOES have to buried upside down!:confused3:rotfl: The nuns reaction was too funny!!:lmao: The nuns at our school advocate the burring of St. Joseph to help sell your house! They even tell you where to get the statue!!:rotfl:
Thank you for your kind words! :flower3: She will be missed as she was part of our family for so long!:sad1:

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.

Today's QOTD is-
What is your most memorable Father's Day moment?

What is your most memorable Father's Day moment?
12 years ago on Father's Day, I announced I was 3 months preggo with then-unknown DD, to my dad and family. :goodvibes DH found out the day before - he was not as exuberant about Father's Day tho, unfortunately. He's better now tho. :thumbsup2 Finding out in June that you're due in December makes a pregnancy that much shorter! :thumbsup2

Here's to the Dad's that made us all possible.

I don't have a specific Father's Day moment that I remember. But Happy Father's Day to all those fathers out there! Which reminds me, I have a present for Joe that I need to set out. We've all been sick here the last couple of days and I totally forgot what day it was.

Were you ever an officer for an clubs/organizations?
Yes, I've been treasurer, secretary and president for a women's group at a church I used to attend. I was also co-chair for the uniform committee for the last four years for Carol's high school band. And was co-parent sponsor for the band student council for the last two years.

That's all I can remember but I know I've done more.

Yes,I was co-president for 3 years of the Womens Club at my daughters school. And now I'm member of the fund raising commitee at my daughters high school.
You meet so many nice people who become good friends when you volunteer!

Don't know, I don't drive so I never look at the prices. I do know that it is under $3 a gallon though.

Do you like bbq sauce? If so, what do you like to use it on? Do you like the original flavors, mixed...?

I don't like BBQ of any kind, but John likes BBQ chicken.

We really like BBQ sauce in this house!! I use it on chicken, ribs, pork, make pulled pork with Sweet Baby Ray's Hickery and Brown Sugar BBQ sauce which is a fave in our house. We make London Broil steaks on the grill and marinate it with SBRs and slice it very thin to serve with either side dishes or as the boys like it on rolls for sandwiches. We also use it on the side as a dipping sauce for whatever meat we BBQ that night !! I guess I can say that BBQ sauce is a staple condiment in our house!!

I like different kinds of BBQ sauce. I like Kraft Original, Jack Daniels, and whatever kind my sister puts on the ribs she makes. I really don't like ribs at any place but my sister's house!
