Do you like to learn about other cultures? The language, trying different foods, learning about other things of their culture? If so, what cultures interests you the most?

Used to love Mexico, but it's gotten too dangerous now and we won't go anymore. Really want to go to Ireland and Japan.

I really enjoy learning about other cultures. I enjoy learning about their values, beliefs, home life, childrearing, play, etc. I also like to learn why some cultures are so different than the rest of the world. Is it because of isolation, traveling to other countries and bringing back new ideas etc. (ok yes, some of these things came to be thousands of years ago.)

I love trying new foods from different cultures but my explorative tase buds only go so far. I'd never make it on Survivor or something like that where you have to eat down right bizarre ( in my mind) foods.:scared1:

All this to say that my interest is purely academic. I dont' necessarily want to travel to all these place to visit but some would be fun.
I'd love to go to China.

Liz

I'm not really interested in learning about other cultures. It is neat when I hear on occasion different things other people do but I don't study it.

I like to learn about Japan, Thailand, and Laos.

I have a question for everyone. Although Hawaii is part of the United States, do you consider it to be a far away tropical destination that is different then the states in the Contenential U.S.? Any interest in coming to Hawaii?

With my daughter going through the process of getting braces, she is now limited to items she is able to eat. This is not so easy since she is a very picky eatter to begin with. So todays QOTD is...... if you were to get braces, what sort of foods would you like to eat for the first three days once it is put on?

I do consider Hawaii to be a tropical paradise. There is beautiful scenery there I can never see here in the midwest. Plus the gorgeous ocean and beaches.

When my DD first got her braces she ate a lot of Jello Pudding and jello. Oh, and butter noodles. She loves those. And slushies and anything that didn't require to chew too much because her teeth/mouth hurt.

DD likes ice cream, pudding, jello, noodle soup so have those on hand.

Need to figure out how she will be able to take her medicine today if needed while she is in school. Need to talk to the school nurse.

I think of it as far away because I can get to some Carribbean locales quicker than I could to Hawaii. I'd love to visit one day if I could get myself on a plane.

All of what you listed plus mac and cheese, mashed potatos and tomato soup. Carol had braces on both her upper and lower teeth.

The nurse should be more than willing to give Shayla her medicine as long as there is a doctor's note. Or, if their rules at her school are like ours were, you could go up to school and give her the medicine yourself.

Is anyone in the path of Hurricane Irene? If so, please stay safe, and keep us updated!

Not in the path, but still could have power outages, lots of rain but the 5 lakes in our development have not flooded in the 8 years we have been here.. Our elevation is 1,509 feet so not worried about flooding from below us.

With each word below, come up with a sentence using that word mentioned. So I will list 5 different words, so you will come up with 5 different sentences. Ex. Book. This morning, I had read my son a book called The Snowy Day.

Choice-

Menu-

Christmas-

Dinner-

Maple-

Choice- I am having a hard time coming up with a sentence with the word choice besides this one.

Menu- My menu for this evening is baked chicken, wild rice with vegetables and beets.

Christmas- I wish Joe's side of the family was still getting together for Christmas.

Dinner- We usually eat dinner about 6:30 - 7:00 pm.

Maple- I love Maple trees!

Do this again Patsy! It's making me use my brain!

Choice-If I had a choice today of doing housework, and other errands or to rest, I would rest so that I could try to get over my cold.

Menu-I like having a menu that has many different choices, but do not like it when the waitress/waiter doesn't give you much time to look over it before wanting to take your order.

Christmas-I am so ready for Christmas....now if I could find my Christmas gift list, that would make me really happy.
:santa:
Dinner-For dinner tonight, my husband is grilling steaks, and we are taking the kids out for ice cream.

Maple-My sister brought back these maple cookies from a trip to Canada, and they were very yummy.

Per Kirby's request, and I enjoyed it as well we will do it once again. Posting early since I will be away tomorrow.
