I've used a Reynolds Oven Bag for several years now and my turkeys have always turned out good.

Turkey Talk....

What three side dishes do you NOT like to eat that is usually served during Thanksgiving?

Okay, I bought a oven bag to try. Do I need to include any liquid in there with it?
I just do whatever the instructions say. Mine say to put flour in the bag and brush the turkey with oil before sealing and baking it. That's off the top of my head. I don't put stuffing inside my turkey so there may be other instructions if you do that. And don't forget to cut slits in the top for the steam to escape.

It has been a number of years since I've eaten a Thanksgiving meal anywhere but at my mom's. I always like the food there. :goodvibes I'm not real fond of sweet potatos, just a spoonful or two is enough for me. When I've eaten at other family members homes, I usually don't eat what I don't care for. I know I don't like mushy stuffing, the kind that you could make a ball and throw. I like a drier stuffing that absorbs the gravy. I'm not real fond of pumpkin pie either but will eat a small sliver.

I don't like the rice stuffing that I make for the family dinner. I also don't like the orange flavoured carrots that I make either. They take forever to cook, and while I like oranges, just don't like them in carrots. Both are from my DH's side of the family, and while I don't mind making these dishes, I try to avoid eating them.

Thank you for the tip Susan.

I do NOT like the andouille sausage stuffing that everyone else requests me to make. Yuck, but they love it so I make it. Usually I like everything else that is served, but over the years we've (our neighbors who we feast with) figured out what everyone likes and have the same things every year!

Yeah- don't forget the slits... :lmao: My mom did the first year she cooked Thanksgiving dinner when she got married, and she blew the door off the oven when the bag exploded!! :rotfl2: She still gets slack from that one!

my family is large and we have a pot-luck type dinner, and every year someone brings a cheesecake, which i can't stand. i'm also not a fan of pecan pie but my dad LOVES it. i dont like stuffing if theres weird stuff in it like gizzards and that mess. also NO mushrooms, ick!

As for things I don't like on Turkey Day, they are few, but stuffing with boiled eggs in in comes to mind. My grandmother used to do that and the eggs became like chewy, rubbery wads.... ewww.... and canned gravy should be outlawed. :rotfl2: My SIL uses it all the time and it's just not right.... or maybe I just really like my homemade gravy? :confused3

See I'm not on this thread a long time and we still have a lot in common. :goodvibes

To go along with the sweet potatoes and the mushy stuffing, I will add green bean casserole. :crazy2: As for the pumpkin pie I smother it in cool whip that way you can't taste the pumpkin, lol.

:wave2:

Pumpkin pie without cool whip is just.... wrong! I like green bean casserole but only if the Durkee onions are baked in it. Lay them on top and I just don't want to eat it.

I would pass on green bean casserole, and stuffing that has giblets and such added into it.

What types of desserts are served at your Thanksgiving meal?

This year: Pumpkin pie (for DH, the addict :lmao:), fudge (for DD, another addict :rotfl2:) and monkey crunch, choc cover pretzels, and cookies if any are left by then. DD is home from school all week, and DH is off wed, thur and fri.... so junk food will go quickly in our house this week. :goodvibes

And, I know this is totally off topic.... but I got one of the kids pictures with Santa today (the photographer forgot to send the other and hopefully I will get it tomorrow) and I had to share!!! :santa: These are my babies! DD is 9 and DS is 2.

This year between my family and our neighbor's, we will have: pumpkin pie, whiskey brownies, tiramisu, pecan pie and key lime pie. Think we'll have enough for dessert?! This might be me after I try all of that  Either that or :scared1:

Good picture!

I love giblets in my gravy!!

This year we're having pumpkin pie, carrot cake and cookies.
