Has anyone exchanged for Cancun? Can you give me any recommendations as to the different resorts? We will stay there as part of a 3 week tour of Mexico, and will be myself, DH, and 2 teens. Thanks.
These are the top resorts for Cancun, period. They are very comparable in many ways to DVC and exceed DVC is some areas. Look for a direct exchange. They will be tough to get Xmas to Easter but relatively easy for the rest of the year. Put in at least a year in advance for an II exchange through DVC. Just watch the teens closely as Cancun is a party town.
I would assume that most resorts in Cancun will be High season for Xmas to Easter and mid season otherwise. It's possible the high season could include part of summer as well. Since most of these resorts have mostly or totally 2 BR units, that's the points I'd look at. Assume 252 or 270. Remember that these resorts that offer a studio do not provide even the basic kitchen of a DVC studio, they're mostly just a hotel room.
I called today, and found out that June, and beginning of July is considered high season in Cancun, and all they had at this time were a couple of 2 bdrm. I do so love DVC, not having to do a whole 7 days, so much more flexibility.

I'm not surprised though I'd never trade DVC even for a summer unit there. You can likely rent a 2 BR for $700-1000 or so during that time of year. The value is much better during the truly high season.
