If I order something from a store in England or Scotland, and I pay for it with my cc....how do I figure out how much it is in American Money? How does the credit card company figure it? I'm so confused - I live here in the US..but it would be delivered to friends in England or Scotland...:confused3
TIA ... Happy Holidays Everyone!! Barb

Your credit card will automatically charge you the US equivalent at that day's exchange rate (+ as pp said, possibly a couple dollars for a transaction fee.)

That's true the cc will take care of charging the amount in USD but I think she wanted to know how much she was spending before she spent it. ;)

but I'm still not understanding it....for example I put in ....$10.00 and it said 6.something...what does that mean? why can it just say...xx amount of American dollars? Should I do it the other way? :confused3

Use xe.com. Put in the amount you want in the currency for the place accepting it (say it is 14 pounds or whatever they use) and choose US as the exchange. Hit go and it will show you the conversion. For instance I did 10 Great Britain Pounds and it is 15.8020 US dollars. HTH
