Jennymouse gave me this great tip when I asked a question on the restaurant board. Thought I'd pass it along. Maybe this is well known, but I did not know this & am wondering if others don't know about it as well! If not, it is worth repeating!!

"This Part is Important: You can use Fastpasses for any time after the start time. NOT JUST IN THE HOUR WINDOW GIVEN. So don't worry about getting back in that window of time. I had heard this here on the DISboards before we went on our trip June 6th and it's true. I even saved Fastpasses and used them the next day or in one case three days later and they let us in with them. Once I saw it would really work, I started getting Fastpasses for stuff in the mornings even if I knew we wouldn't have time to ride, because I knew we'd be back in that particular park that night or the next day or whenever. I had a Fastpass file system going on in my fannypack. "

Thanks Jennymouse!

There have been threads on this before and I know people feel strongly about it.

I personally think this is abusing the FP system. If you do this you are taking the seat of someone who had a valid FP for that time frame.

The reason FP works so well is because only a certain amount of FP are given out for each time frame. When people try to use an expired pass they take the spot of someone else with a valid FP. If everyone did this then the FP line could be as long as the standby line.

Just my two cents

ITA!

Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be.

And to think that on our last trip in October, I saw people get turned away for coming after their hour window.

I don't understand why the CMs let people do this. The finely-tuned computerized system works to calculate everything so that the FP holders don't have to wait in line too long, and so that the lines remain the same or are reduced for standby folks. It seems like using the FPs after they have expired throws the system out of whack. I understand a few minutes, maybe even an hour, but days seems like too long.

Just my opinion, YMMV.

Why do we "cheat" the system? They will take this away if too many people try to cheat...

Can anyone use the fast pass? I'm soooooooo confused.

You would think that if everyone could use the fast pass then there wouldnt be any long lines.

If this sounds stupid to you, I 'm sorry but gosh there is alot to learn about the place. I am excited to go and nervouse that I am going to forget all the important stuff.

Yes, anyone with a valid park ticket can use fastpass, but a lot of people don't realize it.

How is someone suppose to keep track of all of their PS and fastpass time windows? Sorry couldn't resist.

Fastpass work great, but they will only work that way if everyone makes a reasonable attempt to hit the time window. Just check out the Universal version. You have to buy your way in, no time frame. Of course you may still stand in line for 30 minutes. That said with all of the variables that exist in the parks they should represent a general time frame. I realize you have to draw the line somewhere but we had a 10 minute window after our TOT window and before our RNR window. Do you think we could use our 2:50 RNR pass at 2:49? No way.... A little common sense on behalf of the vistors and CMs would help. No I didn't mind waiting a minute. Just seemed really petty when they let people in 3-4 hours after their window.

When we were there in January, CM's weren't letting people in "prior" to their FP time. I never thought people would be holding them for use hours later or another day.

I'm sorry ErininCT & Jennymouse, but i think this is a terrible "tip" to be passing along. FP has been working so well; please don't abuse it or we will lose it.

why are people constantly trying and getting away with bucking the system:mad: IMHO, this was a bad tip:p

Poor ErinInCT who thought she was letting us in on something great, probably without even thinking about the consequences.

She's still relatively new here (61 posts), can we turn the flamethrowers down a little?

:(

Suzie - good point! When I first read the tip, I was thinking "Wow, that's good to know!!". Then the responses made me realize.. ooops, not such a good idea! I just didn't think about the big picture at first.

So, ErininCt - thank you for thinking of us, you are sweet to share!

I think it's a great tip.

There are times when you just can't make it back to the ride during your return time. Instead of tossing the FP away, see if you'll be able to use it.

If the CM say no,fine, if he/she says yes, fine.

I don't think using an old FP will cause a HUGE impact on the system. There are plenty of park guest that haven't figured out how to USE FP let alone take advantage of this tip.

ten minutes late, sure... two days later, no way... it's just "not right" and defeats the purpose of the FP system... tell me, what if everyone chose to get FPs and then use 'em willy-nilly? the system will no longer work...

I don't think anyone has been mean or nasty to the OP. We're all just given our opinions on this particular tip. Nothing wrong with that.

I know the OP didn't mean any harm. Neither do I.

I personally would be too nervous and embarrassed to attempt this. Just my luck I get a CM doing his/her job and notices the time/date on my FP!

I think it would be a good tip IF you were pointing out that you could still use your FP if you were running a few minutes late. However, if you read the original post, having a "fanny pack system" is clearly an abuse. I'm sorry if that sounds mean - not my intention - but if enough of us disregard the rules....... think about that.

Laura

It's up to the cast members to enforce this... sounds like they aren't doing it. We know they look at the passes because no one is ever allowed in before their window... why would they let people in after? Weird.

Sometimes they will not let you in after you time frame.
