DH totally surprised me by booking a trip for just the two of us in November! We are going to enjoy the Food and Wine festival at Epcot. I'm wondering if anyone can give examples of what kinds of 'sample size' portions places offer. We love Epcot - it's our favorite park - and we love trying new things, so I really can't wait!

There are usually 20+ booths set up around World Showcase that have 2 or 3 meat or veggie choices, 1 or 2 dessert choices, 2 or 3 wine/beer choices from the region they represent. The portions are normally a little more that a couple of forkfuls but not an entire serving. It's fun eating your way around the world. I'm not sure of the size of the drinks because I stick to the free Wine Tasting seminars. The places that offer meats on a skewer are usually 3-4 bite size pieces. Canada has Cheddar Cheese soup that is great but just a few spoonfuls. The Australia/New Zealand booth had a lamb chop, Shrimp on the Barbie & Beef ribs last year. Morrocco had some interesting choices that were nice size portions. Great dessert pastries in Italy. There are also some free Culinary Demonstrations were you get a small taste at the end. They give you a booklet when you enter the park that lists the daily schedule of free demonstrations/seminars/tastings. A few of them like the Tea Brewing & The Beers of the World that are in the United Kingdom area you need to go there first thing to sign up because they fill up fast. Most of the food or wine seminars if you get there 30-45 minutes ahead you should get in.

I believe you can get a complete menu at All Ears.
We went last year and sampled chicken quesidillas in Mexico, champagne and a chocolate mousse type thing in France . The plum wine from Japan is to die for! We had a flourless chocolate torte from somewhere I cant remember - probably because it was after several wine samples. :goodvibes
We will go again this year on Sept 30.
Have a great time

I, too, wondered what sample sizes might be like! My November trip will be my first Food and Wine experience and I am going with friends(no children or husbands this time!)..we are only planning to do one full day at EPCOT and I have gone back and forth about whether or not to make ADRs in EPCOT (or even around Boardwalk) that day. I am leaning towards just snacking our way around EPCOT...there will be 9 of us and we don't have much time, also don't want to feel guilty about packing in EXTRA calories as we sample international food and drink "on the fly", plus I just don't want the hassle of a schedule. I figure we can always grab a sandwich at a counter service place if hunger pangs strike! Good plan or flawed?

You're going to regret only giving it one day when you see all the food choices. I wouldn't bother with reservations if you don't have much time. with all the food booths you shouldn't even need to do counter service.

I think one year I had rice pudding from somewhere, Spain maybe? that was about the same size as a hoodsie cup. I also had some Mike's hard lemonade from the america pavillion that was bigger than a dixie cup...from what I remember, the portion were truly snack sized, but prices ranged from around $1 to $4, so nothing really broke the bank. Everything was totally worth a try!

If your Epcot day is on a weekend, there will probably be much longer lines, which might make it less enjoyable ---- depends on how anxious people are to see and do other things..

We "ate our way around the World Showcase" --- 1/2 way around for lunch one day and finished our way around for dinner on another day. We split most things, just to sample them, and really took our time. It was fun, so we're going to do it again this year! Great chance to try a huge variety of different foods.

We had the escargot and coquilles st. jacques at the france pavillion and they were excellent. The escargot was on 3 small pieces of crusty bread. Price was $3.50 I think but so worth it.

I've never had escargot before. What does it taste like? :)

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the reports of what to expect. DH and I are planning to spend 4 evenings in Epcot - so we should be able to sample it all! I don't drink, but DH is looking forward to the beer. He likes wine, but he likes beer more. Thanks again!

Anyone help me out with this one? I can't seem to come up with anything. They are done in a garlic butter/lemon juice mixture with a cheese either melted on or sprinkled over so that is a predominant taste and I can't seem to really describe the taste of a snail. Sorry not much help. :confused3

A little off-topic, but the folks replying to this thread can probably answer my question:

What time do the food (and beverage) booths start serving? Do they start right when World Showcase opens? Or slightly after that? (I think I saw somebody mention that they ate their way about half-way around for lunch....)

Thanks!
Brett
