Examples of Disney's attention to details?

What impressed me the most was the crew constantly cleaning the ship. (I think on land it is called "Operation Main Street" - ??)

Our first cruise we went to CC twice. The first day at CC, I noticed the maintenance guys cleaning and scrubbing the whole outside of the ship. I remember thinking it was a little much, but whatever.

The next day we were at Nassau. Again I noticed the maintenance guys cleaning and scrubbing. We went on an excursion. And when we came back, another cruise ship was docked right next to us. All I could say was WOW!! What a difference all that cleaning and scrubbing made!! That other ship was filthy and really ugly looking compared to our ship. I had a big feeling of pride when I was able to walk past that other ship and board the Dream.

We will be bringing a bag of candy for the maintenance guys on our next cruise - to thank them for all of their hard work. We really appreciate it.

A couple more:

The hand washing machine in the kids clubs. We all know how hard it is to get a kid to completely wash their hands. DCL made it fun to wash them when they go into the clubs. Part of me wonders why there isn't similar machines outside the restaurants.

The interaction with the characters. On our first cruise our kids had an impromptu tea party with Alice on the floor by the elevators. An other day they saw Belle in the morning Princess gathering and she was great with them. Then later in the day they ran into her in the hallway and she stopped and talked to them about their day for ~5 minutes. She has been the favorite since then.

There is also the free soda and coffee by the pool. As well as the readily available healthy fruit options by the pool.

I love this thread!!! Every little thing reminds me of cruises past and it is making me want to go on a DCL cruise again soooo bad!! I don't know if I can wait 16 more months for my next cruise ...

Not sure if this exists for any other cruise lines but not having to take a tender from the boat to the private island is nice.

One time we sailed the Magic and we did have to take the tender to get to one of the islands. I can't remember which island. But that was a one time thing! :o)

There are so many things... right off the top of my head I have to say the cast members treatment of the kids during the entire cruise.

For me, this is a big deal. Kids are... well, kids and a Disney ship is particularly full of them. The cast members have to deal with this week in, week out and yet they really go out of their way to make each and every one of them feel special. EVERY single cast member that had any contact with us from the servers at dinner to the room stewards learned our two daughter's names. The servers learned every whim of how they liked their food.

My oldest daughter loved the top bunk of the stateroom with the stars on the ceiling. When our steward casually overheard her "complain" that she didn't like the bed being put away during the day, he would go in earlier than usual to put it down so when she got back she would find it set up.

And of course both of them got a real kick out of the fact that every sentence addressed to them started with: "Princess Maria" or "Princess Veronica."
