Examples of Disney's attention to details?

The icy cold washcloths and ice water they hand out while we wait (under a canopy for shade) to board the tender back to the ship when we don't dock. Other ship's passenger really notice that too.

As PP mentioned how the CM's at the terminal wave goodbye to you as you pull out of PC, CM's also wave to you as you pull out of CC - with their large Mickey gloves on - and on 4/12/13 as we were leaving CC, the CM's "took a bow" also. It was very cool...and made me a little emotional.
I don't know how to describe it, but it's just so "Disney". Everything you'd expect from Disney, and more. The trip itself was great but by far my favorite part was how every CM seemed to go out of their way to make sure you felt like royalty and that you had the time of your life. All of that made the reality of coming back home SUCK really badly. HAHA. (no joke though...cuz it did)

Yeah, I always give them a "high 4" (since they only have 3 fingers and a thumb)

We will be going on our first cruise ever in two weeks on the Dream. After reading all of these great "little" things done to make us feel special I am afraid I will be spoiled and other cruises wont measure up. We are thinking about going to Alaska but probably wont take a Disney cruise because of the flights etc. But who knows.

The amount of detail is amazing. Here are a few examples from the Fantasy:

Specially made dinnerware:

The huge mosaic in Cabanas:

The color schemes (Fantasy has art deco with peacock motifs):

Thank you for those photos. I get so giddy when I look at cruise photos!!!

I am so going to totally embarrass my kids by acting like a little girl myself!

The esthetic details are endless...but for me, most impressive was the entertainment. Once our servers and room attendant realized I was sailing with my 4 year old alone, they went out of their ways to take my daughter to the bathroom during dinner if I was eating...entertain her and other tablemates kids while we finished eating...they really stepped in to assist me so I had a relaxing time as well. You can't beat Disney for entertaining the kiddos, and I certainly didn't find any of the entertainment to be annoying or cheesy...it was good, family entertainment!!

ps. the "Quest" game that was played in the Tube was definately for adults only and HILARIOUS.

Oh, and the cleanliness/upkeep of the ship is outstanding. Cast members always working hard to make sure you and your family are safe.

I was surprised to see that they removed sections of outdoor wooden railing, re-varnished them and replaced them overnight so everything stays nice and shiny.

In all the photos we have looked at my 8 year old LOVES the Mickey head shaped ketchup on the kids plates!

I love the paint brush butter knife. Can these be purchased?

If you want to know how much you are missing, take the Art of the Theme tour. They point out all kinds of things you have walked by 100 times already on the ship and didn't even notice. Our tour director gave us info about cruise ships from the 30's and 40's and how DCL tried to incorporate some of the 'classic' things about cruising into the ships. You'll learn how the carpets a designed, why Palo is Palo, that the frames around the informational signs have the deck numbers on them, and on and on. We went on the tour on the third or fourth day and it was eye opening. Tour director also told us we could take the tour again and again and learn something new every time and i believe her.

To be fair to other cruise lines, I have seen them handing out towels and drinks as you reboard at a port. I'm sure the are fun things on those ships too, but I do like finding little Disneyisms through the ships, especially in the bathrooms.

Great photos! Giddy indeed!

What about the Mickey shaped waffles?

Or the Sky scrapers that change backgrounds at the bar?

The On Demand Movies you can start and stop and bookmark anytime? MY honey watched Flight of the Navigator, we watched some of Tangled & Princess&Frog. That was a new one for me, just had cable on previous cruises and flipped through the same channels.

The lil Mickey on top of the sundaes.

Ooo I liked Tinkerbell LIFESIZED! Yes I mean fairy sized. I thought that was super neat.

Speaking of attention to detail, the Karaoke CMs remembered our names the whole time (3 day cruise) and even when we were out and about around the ship, they would use our names. I thought that was pretty detail oriented (without a sign up sheet in front of them.)

We did the Art of the Theme Tour -- it was fantastic! Our CM went over the allotted time -- he just loved talking about the ship so much.

As to the other point, yes, I have to say I have a soft spot in my heart for Princess cruises too. We were on the Island Princess for a Christmas cruise and it was gorgeous. The ship was not as new as the Fantasy, and of course, didn't have the wealth of Disney lore to depend on, but the servers and room stewards also work hard to ensure you have a wonderful time.

Yes. They sold these in one of the gift shops when we were on the Fantasy in March!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

They also sell the huge red decorative bed pillows -- for a small(?!) fee.

I really wish they would sell the bread baskets shaped like Cinderelly's coach. Our waiter said they kept disappearing. Well, if they'd sell them, perhaps people wouldn't be quite so tempted to steal them!

First of all, you are hysterical!!! There are so many things that mean a lot. I love the fact that every cast member you encounter is pleasant and willing to go the extra mile. This may seem obvious, but I love how they treat my children!!!!! My kids LOVE the staff in the kids clubs. There's never a request that is too much to ask! There's just a feeling on board that I don't remember from our other cruise (NCL). It just seems happier and more pleasant...

My favorite has always been pepe's stateroom door on the fantasy.

I hear if you leave him a message, he might even answer you!!!
