Or are all the rooms at the ASMo as stinky as ours was? We stayed in the Mighty Ducks building, room 2747, which is on the back side near the parking lots. Our room was handicapped accessible, which means it had a roll-in shower (no tub...which I actually liked), a King sized bed, and a free refrigerator. However, the room stunk to high heaven of musty mildew! It smelled like the carpet and bedding/window coverings had been damp for months (which it probably has been, judging from the humidity we experienced). Our room was a ground floor room. Do even the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms smell like that too?

We kind of got used to it after a couple of days, and, to be honest, we didn't spend much time there at all except to sleep. The room did seem clean, however. No towel animals or anything special, though I left a tip each day. All in all, we were comfortable. I just couldn't believe the smell!

Did you request a room change? From what I've heard of the precip in FL this summer, nothing would surprise me. I am thinking about getting a handicap room for my parents in November as I am afraid they might fall getting into and out of the tub. I had heard that the water in the shower sometimes floods onto the bathroom floor. Did you have that experience. Last thing we need is for them to slip. Would you say the way the handicap room is laid out is less desirable than the non-handicap rooms for people who aren't disabled? Thanks.

I read something else today about a lot of damp/moldy smells at WDW, I think it was on another forum, but...

It's been raining every day for weeks in Orlando, and it's been raining every afternoon down here in south Florida... I got into my two-month-old car this afternoon and it smelled musty. :(

I'd lean towards cutting Disney some slack on this one.

We have ran into smelly rooms before, not only at the all stars, but at deluxe resorts. We request a new room immediately. At the contemporary one time, it took them three tries to even get us a clean room...lol.

Also...I go to disneyworld.com, guest services, contact us and email them and let them know how unhappy I was with the cleanliness.

Disney housekeeping just isn't what it used to be!

We were in the Mighty Ducks last week, 2924 and 2925. These were on the 3rd floor on the right side of the back section. We didnt notice any smell there. Maybe it does have to do with the dampness from the the ground.
We didnt get towel animals either, but they were really good about arranging our stuff on towels, and made a face cloth holder out of a towel. We even got turn down service 1 day, LOL! ;)

Only second hand information but I have been told that certain blocks of rooms at various resorts have been "shut down" for several days at a time while occupancy was a little low. With the amount of rain this year and a "closed" room musty smells are likely.

franw~

We really enjoyed the layout of the room we were in. The king sized bed was huge for the both of us, and probably made the room more spacious without another bed in it. The shower did splash onto most of the bathroom tile (which might explain some of the mustiness), but was not slippery if you put down a towel to step on once you got out. There is also a little bench in one corner of the shower where one could sit down to wash.

In all, we really enjoyed our stay at the All Stars and did not request a room change. We liked our original room location and ammenities and just chalked up the mustiness to the heavy humidity Florida is experiencing right now. After all, we were in Disney World, so we just wanted to have FUN! It wasn't important enough for us to make an issue of it :) Next time, however, I may request a second or third floor room.
