Just cleaned out an old light fixture. We have plenty of these DISGUSTING critters in our home in summer. Luckily, they go away in winter. However, it was disgusting when I unscrewed the light fixture to find fried carcasses of these insects. They're called house centipedes.

I know I'm going on a long shot here - PLEASE tell me they don't like Florida! Do they go away with extermination? We don't have the house exterminated, but I use a bug spray in the summer to keep them at least outta my room. However, does extermination get rid of at least 90% of the bugs in Florida, particularly these?

What I hate most is that they sneak up outta nowhere, they're fast, they're alarming, they're disgusting and apparently they don't mind crawling in sheets. Eewww. I hope I survive the last two summers here before Florida - where finally my residence will be EXTERMINATED.

I've had a few of these in the house down here, but not nearly as many as I had in NJ. That said I didn't ahve an exterminator there, and have one here.

They really do'nt seem to be too bad around here. Of course we have a lot of critters of our own...
