I wish SWA would put out their fares for the rest of May already!!!

There is a fare on Continental for 215 r/t, and with perfect times. Newark is easier to get to than Philly but SWA usually has those $59/$69 dollar fares.

I don't know if I should wait for SWA or just book this fare with Continental now and not have to worry about missing the cheaper SWA fares and then missing out on this fare with Continental.

WWYD? Thanks!

I'd take that fare. Then again, I'd much rather go to Newark than Philly, so it's a no-brainer for me. Assigned seats and a convenient airport? Sold.

I'm going to buy it today I think...I just read a thread that SWA is waiting another 2 weeks to release fares.

I don't know how fars are out of Newark, but I can fly out of JFK or LGA for much cheaper, def less than 200 dollars r/t.

For me, the difference would be Southwest, but that's our Long Island airport. I can often get 110 r/t with ding fares.

The jetblue fare out of JFK would have to be about $100 less p/p for me to want to drive there! ;) I checked and I'd save $20 total. So I just went and booked the Continental flights...$197 and then $25 in taxes and fees..and the times are great! Last May when I went, I paid $280 so this is better than that!

Thanks for the input everyone. :)

Check out Spirit out of Atlantic City. We booked with them for our Easter trip. Our friends rave about flying out of AC. They would much rather that then EWR. Worth a look anyway.

I second that. I'm trying Spirit Air for the first time in May. I was able to get airfare for $77 each way. A few days later, I could have gotten it for $99 one way and .08 cents returning.

Some of my friends have flown out of AC, and they said it is so much quicker than Newark.

Fares from Newark seem to run about $230-280 on average, at least the tickets I've gotten within the past couple of years.

What I'd pay in transportation to fly from JFK or LGA usually eats the savings. My general rule on flying out of NY vs. NJ- if I save more than $50 bucks a ticket, it's worth it. if I don't, it's not. Even if we cheap out and take the subway, the hassle factor of hauling luggage on the trains makes me want to spend the money. I'm on vacation. If I can afford to go to Disney, I can afford to not break my back thumping a suitcase down the subway steps. :lmao: Yeah, sure, I can get there for nothing (my work covers my metrocard) but it's just not worth the hassle and time. And if I'm going to take a cab there and back...it would have cost me the same to fly from Newark.

Long Island is too far away for me to want to try SWA, even with a $59 fare.

I was told if you catch a better deal before your flight, you just call as soon as you see it and they will give you a voucher toward a future flight for the difference!

mikayla'sMom - Thanks!

I didn't know SpiritAir did this too :confused3 . I'm aware that Jetblue & Continental will give vouchers, but I didn't think spirit did...I'll have to check on this again...
Thanks so much for posting.

I booked a flight for MCO from Newark for $217 on Continental for March so it isn't that bad. :)

ITs really a crapshoot with EWR Continental fares. When we flew out in October we got r/t tickets for 168.00, but for our next trip its 198.00 Continental seems to stay within the 150 -250 range with little deviation. I think you got an average fare, and if it goes down you can always get vouchers right?
