Lots of hugs from me, too, Helenabear! I completely understand what you are going through - it's a scary job climate out there, and I have seen so many friends and colleagues lose their jobs over the past few months - it's really heartbreaking and unfair. My former boss, who is a wonderful person, was laid off last month. She and her husband had just bought and moved into a large and beautiful home - one which they spent a great deal of their life savings on. Her husband is a "stay-at-home-dad", so she was the only one supporting their family. My new boss's husband is also in IT, and he was laid off several months ago. He recently took a job driving limousines, so that he would bring in some money while he sends out resumes. It's very tough for them, as well, as they have a son in college. Both my former and current bosses confided their feelings to me, a lot, so I can empathize with your situation. Please don't be scared - things always have a way of working themselves out! I know that everyone is probably telling you that, and that it sounds really trite, but it's true. I, myself, was laid off several years ago, and it was just after my ex husband and I had bought our house. We were less experienced, then, and hadn't been in the "working world" very long, so all we were supporting ourselves and the house on was his nearly-entry-level salary and my unemployment. So I sent out a flood of resumes and went on countless interviews, and even though it was frustrating and scary, I ultimately found a job. I'm sure that the same will happen for your DH. I wish that I was familiar with companies in your area or could help in some way (want to pick up yourselves, your cats, your family, and your house and move to the greater NJ-NY area? Hee hee! Well, it was worth a try, anyway!

)! Just be your wonderful optimistic self and keep supporting DH! I'm sure that you will both get through this! You never know - he might just wind up finding another job which he likes even better than the one which he had! Again, though it may sound trite, sometimes lay offs are a "blessing in disguise" because often, people have been thinking about changing careers or finding another job in their same field, but never left their original jobs because of security or "fear of the unknown". I've seen many friends use being laid off as an opportunity to try things that they would have been too nervous to try before - like applying for jobs at the places where they really wanted to work, going back to school to study a career in a different field, or finding a job in a totally different field. I have many friends who are in the IT field and have seen many rounds of lay offs which have affected them. But you know that these things go in "waves" - we will always need IT people and there will always be jobs. The market will turn around soon - it just has to! Just tell DH to keep sending out those resumes and going on those interviews! And also, keeping his eyes, his options, and his mind open for other things that he may be interested in, maybe in a somewhat related field. He might just find something even better and more interesting than what he was doing before! And even if you find that he needs to take another job in the interim, just to "tide you over" until he finds the job of his dreams, that's OK too - many people are doing that! I'm sure that you both will continue to talk about this together and decide what it right and what is best for the two of you! I wish that I had some better words or that I could directly help in some way! Just hang in there and know that your friends in the EWP Suite are here for you if you need us!

Lots of Pixie Dust coming your way!
It sounds like you really know how to plan a vacation, SlightlyGoofy! And I think it's wonderful that you have been able to create your own mini-kitchen in your hotel rooms and be able to have real meals there! That is so smart! And you're right - making your own meals before and after going to the parks sure does save the time and energy of waiting on lines at restaurants, making priority seatings, or travelling around aimlessly looking for a place to eat! Of course you drive down - what was I saying? I know that we spoke about this before - about your outstanding navigational skills around the greater Orlando / Lake Buena Vista area! How long does it take you to drive down from your home? Do you make the trip without stopping, or do you stop along the way?
I'm really hoping that this heat wave is finally going to break, today! I'm praying for thunderstorms tonight! I am also calling my doctor, today - one week after I went to see him and I am still having the debilitating sinus headaches every night and my arm looks like something out of a horror movie! (I'm tired of people coming up to me and saying "Ewww! What's on your arm?!" as if I didn't notice that it looks like something out of "Night of the Living Dead", or something! And it's so hot that I can't hide it under long sleeves!)
Have a wonderful day, Everyone! And hang in there, Helenabear - we're here if you need us!
