It is is -6 today and only going to be colder sat.... But all I can think about is how those poor CM I see in fla all bundle up at 50 to 60 degrees... I just smile and think what the heck they would be doing here now..... I just start laughing at the image in my mind (could be the cold)....

Yes it's cold and no it is not fun... But it is New England in winter and ya know what....

I LOVE IT!!!!! It sure does wake you up and add a little extra motivation to your step....

Oooh, compared to your minus 6, we are positively BALMY down here in Mass, at a whopping +5 degrees! :rotfl:

We were in WDW last January, and seeing the CMs in hats, gloves, mittens, parkas, while it was 50 degrees or so, was pretty funny. You could definitely tell the northern tourists from the natives.

Off to wait for the bus.

Bundle up kiddies!!

Glad you love it.. I grew up in it .. and left it . Give me 80 degrees in January anytime :smooth:

Yeah I know what you mean. It's up to -8 from -11. We love when it gets down to 50 and all the CMs break out the parkas. I agree with you 100% I love New England. Of course my oil man just came and that put a damper on things a little. The furnace hasn't shut off this morning yet. I just hope we don't get any fires.:firefight

LOL! You must be joking! We have a beautiful 55 degrees right now!! :)

Sweater weather! Woooooooooooooo hooooooooooooooo!

I spent most of my life in IL and I know cold.
Spent two tours in Greenland with the U. S. A. F. and I know cold.
Now live in FL and yes I have my sweats on.

transplanted from new hampshire to florida here. i went to supermarket in my usual shorts and tee shirt. People were wearing winter parkas and one woman was in a fur jacket. I'm not nuts - they are.

Another FL transplant here. I was born and raised in PA and spent five years in cold and snowy Rochester, NY before moving to FL.

Just like you have a few very hot and humid days there and turn on your A/C, we now laugh at how the "northerners" ask how we can live in this HOT weather! When you live in FL, 90 degrees is NOT hot anymore!

Bottom line -- it's all relative...;)

We New Englanders are a sturdy lot!!!!

I remember in 1996 when we were down in WDW at the beginning of January...my DH's friend was running in the marathon and we felt it was our civic duty to support him!;) Anyhow, a couple of the days down there were in the 30's!!!! The CMs were dying witht he cold, and here we are, jackets and gloves, eating Mickey bars. Every CM said "You must be from the north".

You can pick the northerners out at WDW in the summer. They can't take the humidity we are so used to! I have seen some collapsed on the floor in the stores along main street. Those that think 40 degress is hot, would never make it when 98 degrees and 100% humidity-the norm.
I've lived and visited ALL over, and found the single digit dry weather while playing in the snow in Michigan WARMER than the 24 degree wet weather we had here yesterday. Humidity really intensifies things. ;)
I DO love being a Floridian though.:sunny: !

:D
I think it's cute how you northerner's get all red and start dripping sweat when it get's to 90 down here in the south.
Of course you just aren't used to the humidity are you?
It puts a little "slow down" in your step, doesn't it;)

Our favorite saying down here is
"At least we don't have to shovel humidity!"

A fellow New England DISer sent this to me this week....how appropriate for this thread:

Well, I'm a northener and I'm not feeling very sturdy at the moment. I HATE HATE HATE this frigid weather! Can somebody from florida please adopt me and my kids for the next couple of months?:wave2: No? Oh well, it was worth a try. Back to trying to keep hats, gloves, scarves, coats and boots on 3 year olds (they like to take everything off once they're in the car...it's "fun" dressing them every time I stop the car). I better start planning a Disney trip and thinking warm thoughts.

I can't stand this freezing cold, and I've lived my whole life here. I always said when my parents were gone, I would move south. Well that's happened, but now I don't want to take my kids out of school. So I figure I have 6 years left to freeze my tushie off. I am definitely not enjoying it. I guess I'm not the usual *sturdy northerner*

I have always lived on the So. Shore (near Boston). The older I get, the more I hate the cold. I asked my DD (11yo) if she would like to move to FL and away from the cold and she said, "No way! I'd miss all my friends." It was worth a try anyway. Some day I would like to move somewhere a little warmer. I should have taken my DH up on the offer to move to FL years ago.

I too have lived in NY my whole life and always hated the cold. I am cold in anything under 70. I always said to my parents that when my great grandparents came to Ellis Island they should have hopped a train to the South. :)

About to take a quick walk around the lemonade stand grounds.... and in the 60's.... :)

Did take a jacket to Illuminations last night, but luckily did not need it.... ;)

i LOVE the cold but not when it's unexpected! Down here we haev another cold front..highest is 65ºF!! MAN THAT"S COLD!! But i must say i'd rather go to wdw in the cold than start passing out in the heat around ppl io don't kno lol:D

Everytime I step outside I think of the poor Floridians too. Then I think of the rich ones and wish one of them would take pity on me and buy me a home in the Keys and get me outta here!!!!!!!!!

Was outside for about 45min. at a car accident. It was tough for the people in the cars. No one hurt bad but keeping them warm was the first priority. It's a balmy 2 degrees the high of the day. Don't even want to talk about the wind chill, it's scary. I'll be wrming up at the house of mouse in 10 days if I don't frezze soild up here.
