You bought all 8 at the same time? Is there anything unusual or different about the one that did not work? Older? Limited edition? Or were they all just plain coloured bands?

Staying offsite, purchased magicbands for entire group-8 total (from disney store online). Linked some with app, some on desktop. One of the 8 says invalid ID. All the rest linked easily. I tried linking on app and computer. How can I link the last magicband? Will I have to do this at Disney? We'd like to be ready to go on our first park day; can this be fixed at disney springs? We will be there a day before going to parks. Thanks in advance for advice.

It should have given you a phone number when it errored or a phone number on the instructions. you are going to need to call. don't wait as they will have to put in an IT ticket if you go in person and you'll still not have one working at first.

This is a plain one, purple. Two were specialty, the rest plain. This is the only one with an issue. No phone number, just an invalid ID. I'll look on the instructions to see if there is a #. If I can't find a phone number, I guess if we had to, we could purchase another band when we get to Disney. Thanks for the replies!

they dont' really do this anymore but the issue you ahve is the band ID was never put into the system, it's known as link it later. it happens. good luck!

Question about potentially using a magic band for FP+. We are a family of 4 traveling with another family of 4. The other family leaving the morning of our last day and we are staying until late in the evening. Would we be able to put FP+s on their bands for the last day and use them? Or do they need to be scanned for park entry in order to be used for fast passes(like in the old days of paper fast passes)? If this is possible but not "ethical" feel free to let me know that as well. They were going to give us their bands when they leave so we could use unused dining plan credits.

The requirement to get fp is a theme park ticket so they would have to have another day left over. As far as ethical and disney's legal fine print on tickets and fastpasses I'll leave that for you to decide.

Three new MagicBand colors! Black, white, and teal.

Do you know if these base colors are going to be available to resort/ap/dvc bands at some point? I'm assuming for now it's going to be limited to prints and possibly design your own.

When do Magic bands get mailed our w/a resort stay? 9 in our party, 4 staying onsite for a night before our week long off-site trip. Other 5 already bought/received/entered their Magic Bands into MDE & merged them w/their tickets.

60 day FP+ window is coming soon, I'm assuming we don't need magic bands to make FP+, just our tickets (that are entered into MDE).
thanks

If customized greater than 30 days from check-in, they will start to process them at 30 days out.
If customized less than 30 days from check-in, they will start to process them the next business day.
The customization process takes a couple of days and they are mailed (US addresses only) out when that's complete.

An on-site reservation and park admission linked to MDE is all you need in order to make advance FP+ selections beginning at 60 days from check-in.

Made resort reservations and bought tickets this morning! As a resort guest, I should be getting MagicBands sent to me closer to time. Will these be the original MagicBand or the new MagicBand 2? I want to buy some decorations for the bands and need to know what style to get.

MagicBand 2

We received out magic bands for our trip in 20 days yesterday. My DD and I have small wrists. Can we cur the band down smaller so there is not so much excess wrapped around our arms?

You can peel off the outer dark grey portion which will make them smaller. If necessary, you can also cut them down some more. You may also want to sand or file them to soften the edges.

Thank you! Willl look at that this evening!

I always cut mine down (cut off the tail to make it shorter). (Note, I haven't seen the 2.0 bands but assume it would work the same). I cut them down, then carefully use a lighter to melt the end so it is smooth. Others have used a nail file, but I tried that and liked the lighter method better. If you aren't sure, try the lighter on the portion you cut off first to see how it will work!

How to get a 2.0 band: (valid as of 3/19/2017).

Guests staying at a Disney resort or annual passholders that ship their bands home or non-WDW address will get 2.0 bands.

There is a variety for sale around property but they are not solid colors and in limited supply. It is more common to see them on the shelf than a month ago but they are all limited release designs and sell out fast.

More on this later but if your looking for the MagicKeeper keychains, they are commonly found on the shelf now and you can even ship them home using the shop disney parks mobile app.

When I first read through the above, I was a little concerned as it sounds like you can only get a 2.0 Magic Band on property or as a guest. It wasn't until the section of:
What to *expect* when you get your magic band, that I saw #3 and #4.

Perhaps add/changing the "how to get" section to include getting them ahead of time?

Lastly, (not necessarily for the OP), but I thought I'd read that the MB can't be used to track/locate, but I'm seeing on Facebook that people have lost their kids and used it to locate/track them down? Did that change (I don't see that section in the 3/19/17 updated post any longer that said something like the MB can't be used to find/locate people at least from a policy perspective)? The post below kinda implies that you can use them to find someone who's wandered off?

So it sounds like I can buy them online and have them set up before we leave home, thanks! I'm not 100% sure we'll buy them, but I like the photopass feature (especially the ride photos). Plus, I like the idea of "hands free", not having to dig for passes and tickets every time we do a FP+ ride or enter the parks or whatever. I also have a 5 year old daughter, and while she isn't known for wandering off in public, being able to have a CM track her/us down if we get separated is extra peace of mind. I know we won't have charging privileges but other than that it's seems very convenient.

Good point.. I actually want to do a circle through and figure out where we are with the state of 2.0 bands as I haven't paid much attention lately. I'll look to revise after I can do some research on the subject and it'll probably be a redo of the whole section as it's confusing with the "you might not get it" extras.. I also noticed an overlapping conflicting area that I think can be improved but I need the time to get that done.. thanks for pointing this out.

This one is a little confusing.. disney originally made a big deal that the system would not be used for tracking purposes.. but nothing really appeared in their privacy stuff saying that was the case. i've also heard stories of some and some interesting descriptions of what tracking actually is (not from disney, this is just what is looking where people are vs tracking them). This post originally did have wording around it being used to find lost people but when I revised it, I really have no way to verify that is the case except from hear-say. Since we are talking child safety, as a parent I think it's better to not have it in the first post anymore than to have someone think they can ignore their child and because they have a magicband they can be found anywhere on property..
