hi, Jan1033

I had to change my PS to RFC to 4 pm . I will still psot report on vouchers. I was concerned about rushing dinner ,and finishing before 8pm. AK closes at 7pm and the resort buses work 1 hour after parks close . Didnt want to get stuck at AK . Thanks

A friend of mine was asking about the vouchers and I didn't know the answer, so I came to the experts :D ...

They always eat, one meal, at Yachtsman Steakhouse. I see, on page one, that it is listed on the back of the voucher, but it's not open for lunch anymore.

Can they use it there for dinner?

TIA

Question about Q&C's. I'm looking into getting some and have a question about the counter service. Q&C's say 1 entree, 1 side dish(if not included in meal) 1 dessert 1 drink. At the counter service places, if they say fries included, is that your side dish. I give an example of what i'm looking at, We plan to eat at Liberty Inn and here's what I'm loking at to order >>>>>>>

Bacon Double Cheeseburger ( $7.19 ) includes fries. ( is that my side dish ). or am i able to get the Fruit cup ( $2.29 ) as my side dish..

The side dish is really throwing me off here... Thanks for any info..

most places consider the fries a side. some cms do not...i know at pop in Jan04 they gave my husband a side in addition to the fries, at beaches they did not. so no hard and fast answer...that is the case with the vouchers but if you read one of the first couple posts in this thread it has stars by the places you get the most for your money at.

however if you are talking about liberty tree in at MK i believe that is the other voucher ($30) that gives you beverage, appe, dessert and entree

Actually the Liberty Inn counter service in Epcot I was talking about. So if the Fries are considered the side,, I'm really only saving a dollar or two.. I guess thats better then nothing.. Thanks for the info..

opps sorry, we never go there so i guess i forgot that is what it's called..:o! we found the best use of the q/c to be out of the park at the resorts except tangerine at epcot. the others in park were for the most part about a dollar or 2 ( some got good results at pecos bills, tusker house and cosmic rays but we never used them at any of them) of course even 1x 3or4 for each lunch does add up.

I just came back from using 12 Q&C vouchers. I think they are a waste of money. I printed the menus and brought them with me. I was told that I could only get the small soda not the large. Most places did not have any good desserts. I made out all right with Pepper Market because it is so high priced anyway. But also was told can't substitute sides at Pepper Market when they come with a side. This is what I got:

Pepper Market
Wet Burrito 9.95
side fries 2.50
creme brulee 3.65
soda 1.99
tax 1.17
total 19.26

mexican special 10.95
cinnamin roll 2.15
soda 1.99
tax 1.08
service charge 1.51
total 17.68

I'll post more on next post

Pepper Market
1/2 rotisserie chicken w/fries 9.75
cookie 2.15
soda 1.99
tax .91
total 14.80

pepper market
grill special - steak 18.95
cinnamin roll 2.99
soda 1.99
tax 1.72
service charge 2.39
total 28.04

pecos bill
bacon double cheeseburger w/ fries 6.89
chocolate cream pie 1.99
soda 1.99
tax .71
total 11.58

electric umbrella
double bacon cheeseburger w/ fries 7.19
chocolate cream pie 2.59
soda 2.29
tax .78
total 12.85

flame tree bbq
rib meal w/ baked beans and corn on cob 8.49
frozen lemonade 2.79
soda 2.29
tax .89
total 14.46

If you have two little girls with bird appetites and a woman with a very small appetite would you have the girls share a QC and the woman use another QC, having to leave over half her meal untouched? Seems tacky to ask that they serve all three of us on one voucher. We're not cheap but I hate to just toss food out. Advise por favor!!!

Simonmunro, maybe you could use one Q&C voucher for yourself and buy one kids meals for the two girls to share. That would be cheaper than the cost of two vouchers. Most places you'll use the vouchers are counter service anyway (except Beaches & Cream) so if you wanted to feed 3 people on one voucher no one will know the difference.

Buzz2400, those cinnamon rolls at the Pepper Market sure are good aren't they!

We have a son (age 10) with the bird appetite. We gave him a bit of food from our shared Q&C vouchers (usually the fries), but also brought along a treat or two for him. He likes the single serving cups of fruit, for example. The people at the next table may have thought he was abused, but he was perfectly content. Other things he likes are beef jerky and carrots. A PBJ might work for some kids to share with your side order.

Believe me, the Disney folks have seen everything and won't blink an eye. The folks at the next table made even me stare on a recent visit. They bought two or three soft drinks. Got extra cups to share them. Got free plates and filled them up to overflowing from the condiment bar. Used those free condiments and the meat and bread they had with them to make some nice looking sandwiches. They fed about half a dozen adults for under $5. God love 'em.

Q & C Report - Terrace Plaza Pavilion. Salad w/Chicken Breast, Bag of Cheetos (didn't want fries), soda and a sugar-free brownie. Total: $13.91.

PS - this salad is SUPERB. Tasted so fresh. They mixed the dressing on after I ordered. The bag of cheetos is a 'King' size bag.

You do definately have to be careful. Personally, I don't like the Q&C because usually I don't want dessert from counter service - usually only have dessert at sit-down places. Because of this, I can usually get away with a burger, fries, and drink for around $9.

However, even if you think you'll just break even, or only save a few dollars as you said, the convenience factor really kicks in. It's so nice to be able to go to a meal without thinking about your wallet.

That's why I like the VKL tickets for a special lunch - when I first saw the price of $31, I didn't think it was for me. When I started looking at menus, and seeing the meals you can get for them, I was sold. With larger families the cost does add up quick, but they are a great way to plan at least one "very special" meal on your visit where everyone can basicly order whatever they want. That's the best thing about the VKL's - I'm the type that usually goes for an app OR desert, but you can really indulge and not even look at the prices.

i used the Q & C vouchers last week at epcot and MK. we ate at the mexican counter service cantina the dessert was a churro and it was yummy and huge!in the MK we ate at cosmic rays and the dessert was a haagen daz chocolate almond ice cream bar also yummy or you could have a sugar free brownie. The desserts might not be as fancy as you would get at a sit down restaurant but they are still very good.

simonmunro....I think it depends on where you eat. For example apparently at Rainforest Cafe you can order off the adult menu using a child's voucher. In this case I would use 1 child's VKL for both kids to share.

Will Hotwire Savings Club also send Q&C certificates to Europe ?
Or how to get those great deals to the other side of the ocean ?

Does anyone know if 4 VKL and 16 Q&C vouchers would be enough for a family of 4? 2 adults and 2 teenagers-girls-who are picky eaters!

it would depend on a lot of things like how long you are going ect but i think most places you could use 2 vkl split between the 4 of you per meal and maybe 2-4( depending on where you go )with the q/c per meal. some places the q/c were fine for 2 to split, depending if you want the same thing and also where you go and what you order . we could split easily 1 q/c for 2 adults at beaches, pop, tangerine cafe and pepper market, used 1 ak with an extra dessert pizza at pizzafari
