I'm an outsider now in Savannah, but I am always happy to see this thread come around again. So do they still have Hot Sam's pretzels in the mall?

Hey, Nick Lidstrom just got his 1,000th NHL point! Only the 2nd Swede ever to do so.

LOL, break out those winter coats to make your kids wear over their Halloween costumes! Or under! "But MOM, I can't wear my coat under my costume. I'm a ballerina!"


I can laugh about this because I paid my dues. 10 or so Michigan Halloweens wearing my coat over my costume was enough for me! (27 years total living in Michigan!)

Now we wear t shirts while trick or treating and work up a sweat!

Don't get me wrong..I Michigan weather..on those 3 or 4 sunny clear warm days that come each year!

A little laugh... My oldest son 12 had a cross country meet in Allen Park at Champagne Park Yesterday. I had to bundle my 2 younger kids up in snow suits just to keep warm. It was so cold. We froze our butts off.. Yep its in the middle of October

I was a ballerina for Halloween once. I FROZE!!! And my tights ripped.

The economy wasn't much better when I got out of college. Don't worry too much. If they want to stay close to family, they'll find a way.

That's what I'm afraid of. . . ! J/K. . .I think. . .naw, we love our kids and would like them near. Actually, both of them are planning graduate school, so it will be a few more years until the eldest is ready for the job market. Hopefully, this will turn around by then and, who knows, my husband and I are getting ever closer to retirement. . .we may be gone south ourselves.

3Leafs - I'm assuming you live in the downriver area??? We raised our family in Woodhaven and Allen Park, all 3 kids (now in their late 30s) graduated from APHS. We're downriver frequently. One DD lives in Wyandotte; best friend lives in Taylor. We both grew up in Dearborn.

hrh_disney_queen - I remember those wonderful pretzels at Southland. What great memories!
