Two and a half years ago my eldest DD (22) took time out from studying to go travelling :sunny:

*Long story short*, she went for 6 months and decided that she preferred living in the middle of no-where, usually with no running water or electricity, existing day by day making and selling jewellery and juggling fire!
Never was a materialistic child my DD

Two days before our Italian trip she informed me that she was coming home but, as she's been travelling for the last 9 months (around South America) with no papers didn't know whether she might be sent to prison or Brazil :scared:

Anyway, 5 weeks later (she doesn't know how to rush :rolleyes1 ) and many phonecalls to the Embassy from *good old mum* it looks as though she has written permission, from immigration, to travel to Caracas (2 days away, on a bus, from the middle of nowhere she's been living :hippie: ) to arrange a flight home :jumping1:

She's travelled alone for the most part and isn't certain whether her Venezuelan boyfriend will be accompanying her to Caracas but I know she's still frightened of the police stopping her on the way and trying to take her cash (not the most honest people some of them :sad2: ), and I won't stop holding my breath until I know she's back in the UK, so any spare Pixie Dust would be much appreciated, along with the crossing of whatever anyone can cross for luck ;)

And then, she's going to end up arriving home whilst we're in a caravan in the middle of Northumberland..............................
Still, I guess that's closer than Venezuela :goodvibes
Kids!

Hi Alison

What an adventurer you have.

Sending lots of pixie dust and keeping everything crossed for you :grouphug: pixiedust: She will be home safely soon

It sounds like something out of an adventure film!! I hope she gets home safe and sound. :wizard:

Mmm, and then she tells that she's off again as soon as she's got some cash together............................. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

that would be my worst nightmare if my son was like that when he gets older :scared1: nothing wrong with being independant but i would like him to rely on me still :rolleyes1

Luckily kids are all so very different :sunny:

DS (19 tomorrow) would never travel anywhere unless he was accompanied by a shedload of cash, his PS2, PC, cinema system, I-Pod, mobile phone, underfloor lighting and someone to cook his meals.
Oh, and don't forget the air-conditioned, luxury car.......................... :rotfl:

Sounds wonderful Alison, I so hope my son turns out to have the adventure gene, heres hoping she gets back safe and sound :sunny:

I did a lot of travelling when I was 19/20 and loved it, but looking back now, I don't know how I managed living so frugally :rotfl: Couldn't do it now at the grand old age of 33 :teeth:

Hope everything goes well for her :wizard:

Not heard anything from her since yesterday so I'm hoping she's safely on her way to the Embassy

Sending pixiedust:

Wish I'd been brave enough to do some like that when I was young. Good luck to her, hugs for you, you must worry about her.

i always packed too much, even for a weekend away i can take two large bags so travelling all round different new and exciting places would probably break my back :guilty:

Kids! Who'd have 'em? Our 2 are totally different from one another, too. Cause us grief in equal measure, though! :teeth: I hope she finds her way safely home, Alison.
