Everything but Disney day 1 Friday 14th October 2011 Travel day
Our flight was 11am from Manchester Airport to MCO via Philadelphia with US Airways.
We live less than an hour away so set off in the morning 6.30am.
Had done online check in the day before so we had our boarding passes.
Had booked Meteor meet and greet parking again. Booked with a 25% off code. Basically you pull up at departures they drive your car away and park it. On return you call them when you land and they meet you at departures with the car. Alot easier with DD and the luggage then getting a shuttle bus from an offsite car park and with a discount code works out same sort of price.
My only complaint with meteor was they took about 35 mins to collect the car whilst we stood waiting. Partly my fault I should have called them sooner (they say to ring 10 mins out from the airport but in reality they need to be called sooner)
We ate at burger king same as last year. It was rubbish and expensive. Will try Frankie and Bennys next time. I got some perfume in duty free and some aftershave for DH.
The flight was fine, no complaints seats fine, seatback inflight entertaintment on demand, food ok, DD got her kids meal we had booked.
When we booked id left 2 hrs to make the connection. The airline had changed the times slightly to 1hr 50 so I knew it would be tight. The 1st flight ended up being late meaning we had less than an hour to make the connection. There were 90 of us trying to make the connection.
We went through immigration no line. Collected cases and went through customs - no line. Security was a different story long lines and slow moving and they wouldnt expedite anyone trying to make connections. We than ran pretty much the length of the airport and made the flight.
We were actually one of the first to make it was very proud of DD she was a trooper pulling her Sharpay carry on case. They did end up holding the flight and we landed MCO 1hour late so 7.19pm.
It is a lot easier arriving at MCO as a domestic passenger got monorail to terminal, waited for cases and then we went straight to garage to collect car.
Wed booked an Intermediate SUV with US rentacar (with dollar). DH is a dollar express club member and id done the pre registration online and also asked if we could use the free upgrade voucher that was on the forum. DH went to the kiosk in the garage and they had a 7 seater white chevy traverse on VIP hold for us. Great result. No hardsell, away in 5 mins and got the upgrade. Definitely will do the preregistration again.
DH only had a short drive to Floridays resort which is on south International drive took 518 couple of tolls- all took cash/gave change. We arrived at 8.30pm.
We were checked in by DibbTink and she had arranged a condo with a great view in block c.
I quickly unpacked a bit and we went down to the pool area.
I had Caesar wrap +fries, DH Cuban Panini + fries, DD kids grilled cheese + fries, 2 diet cokes from the Palm cafe. Food was tasty, cooked to order (took a while) but on the pricey side $35. We also had a couple of cocktails from the pool bar $13 plus tip. Ate by the pool couldnt quite believe we were here!
Went to bed absolutely shattered at 11pm so 4am UK time (had been up 23 hrs!)
