We are flying out on Nov. 1st from Philly which is a Friday. I have never flew on a Friday, because I know it's cheaper to fly Tues, Wed and Thurs on SWA.
This year we have no choice and we are leaving on Friday. What can I expect the flight cost to be? Is there any chance they will be reasonable between the 114.00 and 134.00 I see for other days? They are now up to $215.00:scared1: we already changed our coming home day to Monday, because Sunday is worst. We can't leave before Friday. Do you think there is any chance prices will go down for Nov. on a Friday?

We are flying out of Philly in Sept on a Friday. Booked through US Air because SW didn't have any early ( 7am non stop) flights like they use to have. Booked a 6:50 flight for $223 round trip. Just found out today that they cancelled our flight and put us on the 8:00 flight. Not happy with either airline right now. We booked in April and our flights have gone up since then.

Guess we are glad what we got when we got it.
September 27th, $134....October 5th $114.........$247 RT PHL to MCO

11:30am Non stop on the way down
4:30pm Non stop on the way home

Both are Air Tran flights booked through Southwest, should be interesting I heard.

this is what I am afraid of, that they would just keep going up. I hate to make the choice of driving, but at this rate I might have to. I can't buy 4 tickets at this rate. It would be cheaper to drive.

Is the $215 RT or one way? Are the other prices you quoted ($114 & $135) for middle of the week rates?

The $215 is one way, to go to Orlando. The $114 and $135 is mid week one way. I just don't know what to do. I'll never get BWV at this point to change my dates around. I had to take this vacation at this time and it's becoming a nightmare. I never flew on the weekend and NEVER dreamed it would be this MUCH:mad:
We decided to fly home first thing Monday to make it some what cheaper and that's at $161 to come home from $346(on Sunday) to go back to Philly.

All other airlines are running the same price so to switch carriers wold not make a difference.
Like I said we always went mid week, so I guest I am having sticker shock. I just wish I knew better.

I thought I was a great planner when it came to Disney vacations.:rotfl:

Which Friday in November? And what airport are you flying out of?

ETA
Nevermind, I see that it's November 1st. I wouldn't count on them coming down since it's the Friday before Jersey week. Where in NJ are you? SWA has cheap flights out of LGA but no non-stops. ISP has a non-stop for $142

Check leaving from Baltimore, it's an easy drive.
Southwest
NOV 1FriDepart Flt 5169*
BWI
10:30 AM MCO
12:55 AM Adult Air fare per person
Wanna Get Away fare $128.90

Return - Nov. 11 MCO BWI NOV 11MonReturn Flt 5212*
MCO
10:20 AM BWI
12:25 PM Adult Air fare per person
Wanna Get Away fare $107.90
If you decided to come home Sunday instead of Monday, prices are about the same for the return flight. $108, that is if you had to go back to work on Monday, it is do-able.

$236 total..1 adult

If the prices go down from Philadelphia you switch back to flying out of Philadelphia, no change fees. Aleast this way you are locked in at a price you can manage.

We are leaving out of Philadelphia on Fri. Nov. 1st.We are in Bellmawr. We are actually sitting here trying to come up with a back up plan. I am debating on trying for Thursday with Airtran. My concern with them are not sitting with my son who has a Peanut Allergy.
SW is Great with it and they also let us pre-board to wipe down. I don't know how Airtran is with Allergies. I am also reading a lot of bad reviews with flights from Airtran. So I am just so confused. UGH! I hate this I just want it over with.

I'll throw Baltimore out there and see how that goes..Thanks.

Book an AirTran flight through AirTran and you can pay to choose your seats when you book. You can also ask to preboard once you're at the airport, so you can wipe down the area. Granted, you pay for checked luggage - but your son's safety outranks any luggage charge.

is it just me, or anyone else, but I can't even find on my receipt where it shows what I paid for each ticket - each leg. When I pull up my confirmation online on SW all I see is the itinerary. When I check my email receipt I have a total price, but there's nothing that breaks down each flight.

Where the heck do you see this info?

(sorry for such a stupid question)

Yes, your right my sons safety comes first, this is why it is taking me so long to make it final:). I can't believe I am still sitting here with my traveling party figuring this out and getting a back up plan.:rotfl: It been over 9 hours now. I drive them crazy:lmao:

Did you check out prices for the Newark airport. It would be a lot closer than going to Baltimore. Also check the price for the Allentown airport. I remember a few years ago the day a neighbor was scheduled to fly they were calling for a hurricane so she changed her flights to the Allentown airport because they were talking about closing the Phila airport.

I don't know if I recall seeing a break down. I remember looking for that too last year and I don't think I ever found the break down price..lol.. They make things so difficult.

I am going to check those airport now..Thank You

Newark is much higher then Philly and Allentown doesn't have SWA.:(

We have decided to fly home Monday. it's a little cheaper. Hopefully it will go down and I can get a credit. Going we are going to wait a little longer and hope we can get a descent price. Worst case we'll change a day going by a few days if we have too. I just can't justify paying 200.00 one way. Oh the good ole days of $59.00 flights..:upsidedow

There was a black Friday sale last year. There was also a summer sale and our $230 each way flights were about $105 each way. It could happen. ;)

I will keep my fingers crossed, that would be great. I told the family today. We'll give it til June. That's when I usually buy the flights anyway, and we'll hope for the best.

Thanks for the HOPE:thumbsup2

You might also want to look into Frontier.

Frontier doesn't have daily flights, but They are offering some great deals on their site from Trenton and Wilmington, DE (Just south of Philly... like if you took 295 or the Turnpike all the way to the south end of NJ and crossed over). I was actually seriously considering them because their prices around when I was looking were cheaper than some of the Southwest flights into/out of Philly.

I noticed if you book their mid-level fair on their site, It includes both assigned seats (good for your desire to be with your family), AND 2 checked bags (the same as Southwest). Both Airports also fly into both TPA and MCO, so if you are planning on renting a car in Florida It might help gain a bit more flexibility around Frontiers flight times and when you wanted to travel.
