In June we stood in a long, long line waiting for a Dole Whip because I told my husband that everyone on the DIS thinks they are wonderful and I had to try one.

I guess I was expecting something spectacular because all I thought was, "pineapple ice cream? Whoop de doo."

What were you surprised by based on the suggestions of other DIS'ers?

Everyone on the Dis likes *Ohana's*, but I thought *The food was a little dry.*

Everyone loves Boma at the AKL. I think its gross. Just not my cup of tea. Really expensive for food you really dont like. I ended up eating chicken fingers and mac n cheese off of the kids buffet.

Rice Cream, but I thought it wasn't sweet enough.

And, on the other hand

Everyone on the DIS HATES Beverly, but I liked the old gal. But I think skunks smell like pepperoni pizza, too.

Everyone loves the Ice Wine in Canada during the F+W and we thought it tasted like expensive apple cider.

Everyone on the Dis likes *Beaches and Creams burgers*, but I thought *they were the same as any fast food burger.*

I'll second 'Ohanas. Nothing awful, mind you, but quantity doesn't equal quality.

I dutifully lined up for every treat raved about on the board and gave the Dole Whip a great big shrug. I was expecting a smoothie of some sort. Norway's school bread and kringla was blah too, not worth it. (I lived in Norway for a year, never heard or saw school bread while I was there though I had other heavenly pastries that leave those at WS in the dust. So I was biased from the get-go, I guess).

Oh, and, yeah, I liked Beverly too! It reminded me of other bitters, Campari, etc. that I love. I told DH that he might want to spit it out because I had heard it was that terrible but he thought it was okay too.

I think I am just strange!

Dole Whips - Totally overated.
Ohana's - Just ok, didn't really blow my dress up. Very expensive for just ok

Everyone on the DIS likes Breakfast Lasagna from the Crystal Palace but I thought it wasn't good at all and really wasn't anything special.

<i>Everyone on the DIS likes</i> <b>Tonga Toast</b>, <i>however I thought</i> <b>it was just a big greasy banana toasted 'sandwich'</b> - this coming from a person who loves sweet things too!

Ditto on the rice cream-not sweet enough. Also Kaki Gori at Japan was a big let down. Give me a Texas raspa cone any day!
However, thanks for suggesting Zebra Domes, Beaches and Cream Sundaes, and eating at the Yacht Club Galley.

Everyone on the DIS likes the turkey legs. We thought they were greasy and overcooked. ICK!

Also...everyone likes the California Grill at the Contemporary. We thought service was below par, food was average and overall nothing to write home about.

Lastly POFQ seems to get a pretty tough time on the boards but WE LOVED IT!! My DF said he hopes that the Poly lives up to it next year on our Honeymoon.

Turkey legs, just don't get it. And Mickey bars, they're just Dove bars that I can get anywhere at anytime.

Dole whips, breakfast lasagna, tonga toast - don't get me wrong I liked them all, but they weren't as fantastic as they were hyped up to be. However California Grill was SUPERB

I love this thread! I must say, I LOVE MICKEY BARS!!! (I also love Dove Bars!)

Haven't had any of the DISer favorites though.

Now I'm starting to second guess my PS at 'Ohana. . .

:wave2:

Tonga toast didn't impress both DH and I. It was way too cinnamony and sweet.

Everyone kept raving about Crystal Palace. We found it to be just so-so.

Heard raves about Primetime Cafe... overpriced and my meatloaf is better than that.

Had to do DQ cause I heard it was a must do... turned out we waited more than we played.

Now, on the flipside... we absolutely love Ohana, Whispering Canyon (which keeps getting slammed) and Beaches & Cream.

That's what makes Disney so cool... so many choices for so many people!

Ditto on the turkey legs. Well seasoned, but very greasy. Hard to eat with all those parts that look like plastic.

Everyone on the DIS likes *The Hoop de Doo* but I *Think I'd rather get stitches than have to sit through Hee Haw live.*
