Everyone on the DIS likes "______," however I thought, "_____."

Everyone raves about the Crystal Palace, but I thought the food was just okay and it was SO loud!! I miss not seeing the Pooh characters as much, but I MUCH prefer the LLT for a character meal. Also, everyone really rags on Prime Time Cafe and Sci-Fi Drive-in. Those are my kids all-time favorite restaurants. And we really enjoy the food at both places!

I'm so glad that we don't all like the same things! Diversity is a wonderful thing! :flower:

Definitely agree with the Ohana folks....large amounts of overcooked, dried out meats.

Definitely agree with the Turkey Leg folks....blech. I don't know how people eat them. They're so over-injected with some sort of nitrate based juices...they are nasty.

Definitely agree with the Boma folks...spend another 10 bucks and go next door to Jiko for a really good meal.

Definitely disagree with the Cal Grill people. That's a wonderful restaurant by any city's standards...you must have hit them on an off night.

Boma is my big one.

But to extend.... everyone at the DIS raves about Zebra Domes. We thought they were dry and stale and had way to much geletin in the mousse.

(Disclaimer, I am apparently the only human being on the planet to think Krispy Kremes are gross)

Turkey legs, just don't get it. And Mickey bars, they're just Dove bars that I can get anywhere at anytime.
Yea, but Dove bars don't have EARS! :earboy2:

I've seen many rave reviews for the Tambu Lounge at the Poly. While the atmosphere is pretty cool, the drinks are WAY to strong for my liking. I couldn't even choke down the backscratcher! The waitress noticed that I wasn't drinking much of it and offered to bring me another drink. I just asked for a non-alcoholic strawberry daquiri! There was enough liquor in that drink to last me a month!! =)

Yes, I forgot that! I love chocolate ANYTHING and since we missed having dinner at Boma's, I went bought a couple at the Mara. Too much gelatin for sure! I thought they had a disgusting consistency.

I keep coming across poor reviews of Sci-Fi Dine In, but DH and I just love it. It's one of the best themed restaurants in all the world. The food was nice, the service was very good and the atmosphere is just super-great.

I also have to say that Dole Whips make the trip. I mean wouldn't you rather be in Disney, eating Dole Whip, turkey legs, and Tonga Toast rather than sitting at your desk eating your brown bagged lunch?

Nope, there are 4 of us in this house who don't like them either. Way too sticky. I couldn't even pay my kids to eat them.

Okay, here's my votes:
Everyone on the DIS likes Bomas, however, we disliked it very much.
Everyone on the DIS likes Tonga Toast, however, once was once too many.

i threw my dole whip out about four bites into it. i thought it was totally disgusting. i love pineapple and i love ice cream, just not together :crazy2:

What a fun thread!

When I first saw this, I immediately thought: Boma. I was almost afraid to post it - I thought we were the only ones left not delighted! We were so prepared to love love love it, but it was...eh. If it was in our home city and not nearly as expensive, sure we'd go back. But with the price and so many places we enjoy so much more - well...no. I did like a few things there, but overall I came away not nearly as impressed as I hoped we'd be.

Dole whip? Seems to have almost a plasticky taste to me, but I haven't had one in years. We'll be trying again in May - DS loves anything fruity. But you know what? I am in agreement with the post about eating turkey legs and drinking dole whips as MUCH better than a salad at work ;)

I would have to agree about the dole whip - just by itself was a tad boring. BUT, you have to try the dole whip float!!!! It's the pineapple ice cream in pineapple juice... I just love that!!! :drinking1

We're going to try Ohana's and Boma's for the first time this trip, so can't comment on those, but I have to agree with the ones who don't like turkey legs - they just look so gross to me!!

Chef Mickey's! (dinner, haven't had bfast) It was a mess and we had an early PS, the quality reminded me of a Golden Corral.

Dole Whips aren't anything special to me, but I live for a Dole Whip Float! :cloud9:

This is fun!

I don't have any that you all liked and I didn't, but there were a couple that you all DON'T care for that we thought were OK.

We thought dinner at Chef Mickey's was good. The food was very good (way better than Golden Corral - at least better than the Golden Corral around here!), our server was great, the characters were fun. There was a thread right before we left that ALMOST made me cancel and switch to Park Fare, but I am glad we did Chef Mickey's! We thought Sci-Fi was OK. I ate half of DS's cheeseburger because he was full, and it was good. DH and I just ordered dessert because we were scared.

Not to say that Sci-Fi isn't frequently bad, and I am sure plenty of folks have had bad Chef Mickey experiences. We just happened to enjoy two things that get a bad rap around the DIS.

Things people raved about that we didn't like:

Turkey legs...JUST NASTY. Chef Mickey's for dinner - poor quality food, but their breakfast is OK. O'hana's was a dissapointment this past year after previous good visits. Pop Century resort (don't flame me), and Coral Reef Restaurant were both less than what we had expected based on reading these boards.

Mickey Ice Cream bars are ok, but would much rather have the oreo or chocolate chip ice cream sandwich cookies.

LOVE: the dole whip, Lime Rickey @ Beaches & Cream, ESPN hot wings, sundaes from Ghiardelli's (sp), Earl of Sandwich, CA Grill, zebra domes, and cookies from the Main St. Bakery!

A dole whip with the pineapple juice. I thought I would love it, since I like pineapples and it gets so many raves on here. Didn't like it at all, too tart. Another thing, is the Crystal Palace, food was all right and the characters were very unorganized. I guess everybody likes different things.

Grapefruit cake at BD -BORING :confused3
I LOVE Bomas BUT zebra domes were a bit of a let down
and those turkey legs :snooty: One look convinced me I wasn't going anywhere near them!

Okay I'll play. Everyone raves about Chef Mickey. I wouldn't go there again if they gave me a free trip!! It was dirty, the food was like leftovers (and we were there at the beginning of dinner) and the waitstaff stunk.

There I've said it!! I feel better now.

Beaches and Cream - went because everyone raved about it. It is the worst meal Ive ever had at WDW and such a let down. Sawdust comes to mind!
Didnt like Boma either .
Now, I feel better for letting off steam. :rotfl2:
