Overall, medals are very similar to the original graphics. I really like them! My favorite 5k medal in a while.

Yeah, again very glad I didn’t choose to run this with my friend’s husband, who is running Dopey. Signed up for the marathon instead.

Rather than manufacturing themes, I wish the theme could just be Marathon Weekend. No need to do more than that.

With Minnie back as the host of the 10k.

I don’t believe they ever explained the change; but I think adding Minnie as co-host of the Marathon and Daisy as co-host of the Half was, pretty transparently, a nod to equality. While wholeheartedly agreeing with the sentiment, I disagree that it was needed in this case. Personally, I think going from host of her own race to co-host of another was a demotion. And everything was so clean with the Fab Five hosting the four individual races and initial challenge and the character for the additional challenge being almost too on the nose.

I’m usually not wistful for the good ol’ days, but going back to the above listed race hosts is one of my few indulgences into that territory.

DW just asked why Minnie is missing for the marathon medal and there are two Mickey’s?

It took me a minute before I realized that Minnie was in blue and Mickey in red. I had them backwards.

I’m wondering if there might be small spinning pieces on some of the medals.

Half - Yellow Flower
Full - Shield
Goofy - Trophy
Dopey - Red Gem

I don’t think the trophy and the shield would be designed to be upside down on purpose.

I’m doing the marathon and love the medal! I like all the others as well. I think they did a great job with making everything cohesive and true to the theme.

Team Bus all the way! I love the mingling with the runners in the quiet of the hotel port cochere before the chaos that is the Epcot parking lot. I love both but it's such an interesting juxtaposition.

It took me a minute before I realized that Minnie was in blue and Mickey in red. I had them backwards.

Oh, yeah. I had to pull it up on my larger computer screen and really look at the medal to tell them apart. Minnie has the long eye lashes, but otherwise I'd have thought two Mickey's.
Why isn't Minnie in a skirt? (A Minnie-skirt! Ba ha ha ha ha. Sorry)

I really like all the medals! My only concern is one related to the theming. If the character stops are related to the theming of each particular race, and if the 5K contains all the science fiction character stops, that doesn't leave much room for much Star Wars.

Star Wars is really space fantasy so they can include it in the "fantasy" race, too. I have spoken.

I concur on all counts, but...
10K - Is Dale on a spring? Looks like he might be independent of the medal itself
Goofy - Does Goofy himself rotate? A la the 2022 Goofy medal? Mebbe. Hard to say

Looks like the medal reveals are all straight on to hide such features for now.
Not orienting the shield and trophy look like an escape by the media team photographing them.

And after the costume notices that Donald has to be in shorts, they have Donald wearing shorts. Daisy, not so much, from what I can tell. Just noticing the inconsistency in outfits.
Anyway, Disney is usually very clever with details: in the parks, on medals, etc, which is something I really appreciate.
It is always fun to look at Disney stuff more closely to see what hidden detail someone has included.

I don't think they really theme the character stops to the race theme. They don't even use pre-race characters for the specific race "theme" half the time! It's usually something completely unrelated IF there's a theme at all!

The year they did the "90s" theme, they also did "Disney Decades" for the character stops where you had (as an example) the Hag from Snow White and Pinocchio during the 5k and by the time you got to the marathon it was newer characters and disney jr show characters. Nothing whatsoever to do with the 90s theme.

2024 Boston medal was brutal with a huge “Bank of America” front and center. People flipped out.

I hadnt paid attention to them in a while but did see those in 2024. I would have been pissed for that to be my first Boston medal after years of what they had. It's like everyone wanting the blue / yellow jacket to appear again in 2014 after 2013, and it was a safety orange jacket! BTW, I think Boston is the only race that I purchased merch from the expo. For Disney, I got a Christmas tree decoration at the expo lol.

We also did a double take on that one to recognize Minnie. Minnie usually has her hair bow, and maybe some polka dots. For runDisney it's normal for her to have running shoes and shorts, but the crown instead of the bow makes it less obvious for sure.

My husband is joining me for the half this year. He is not a Disney person, so I am loving how over the top the half marathon medal is going to look around his neck!! With the matching race shirt.

The key is in the weekend graphics. You can see the graphics and the medal side by side at the top of the reveal page. Mickey is wearing a knight's helmet, while Minnie is wearing a queen's crown.
