Everybody's Celebrating Something! No Questions Asked!

First of all, no one said people who wore birthday buttons were "morally or ethically wrong" or as "trying to cheat some system". So if that's why people deserve to be called names, then you will have to find another reason.

Actually, if you might want to go back and re-read OP's posts as they repeatedly say that, if you're not there on your actual birthday/anniversary but you're wearing a button, you're pretty much morally bankrupt. I should know. They directed it at me, among countless others here.

PS: To all the button police, please come and find me in two months and two days and write me a ticket for getting a button almost four months after my 5th anniversary.

Heck at this point I might wear a button to commemorate your anniversary just to annoy the button police. :rotfl2:

Anyone else got an Un-Birthday? I will be happy to wish you a very merry unbirthday via button!

Be sure it says "The Bugs are celebrating their 5th Anniversary!" and then write underneath "I have no idea who these people are!" :lmao:

I did re-read the OP's posts and she didn't say a thing about people being "morally bankrupt" or anything even near to that! You are reading what you want into what she said so you can be all huffy and indignant.

Actually, an un-birthday button would be brilliant :thumbsup2.

Actually, I'm not being huffy and indignant (minor attack?). I survived cancer and I'm going to celebrate my anniversary after the fact because I'm still alive to do so. If you (or anyone else) really do think that I'm that bad of a person for doing so, then flame away because I really don't care what you think.

My bad, though, it was SEA333 who was calling into question people's morals and ethics.

Yes and s/he apologized when she realized that the buttons no longer say "TODAY is my birthday". Next?

I'll actually be there on my 26th Anniversary!!! So I'm going to write "today is" on my button. maybe.

We went a couple weeks late last year for our 25th because of work schedules and timing our friends could join us. We wore our buttons not looking for free dessert because our meal plan included dessert, and we were not looking for champaign because we don't drink. There was one day that we didn't wear our buttons and we felt sad no one was wishing us a Happy Anniversary. :confused3

Different strokes for different folks. One time I went "Celebrating Life" because my mother died from Lung Cancer and I had the chance to go with my 79 year old friend who adopted me as her daughter since she didn't have one. No big deal pixie dust but felt good that maybe someone might have read my button and had a change of attitude about their day.

My friends wore buttons that said "Celebrating a Kid Free vacation" and had a nice conversation over that freedom that made them smile.

My last trip I was celebrating a solo vacation, because my son with Autism was turning 22 and his services were about to end and I had no idea of the future, so I celebrated his birthday. But chose not to wear a button. I was solo and didn't want attention from ANYONE.

I do think everyone has something to celebrate and just being able to afford a vacation in itself is a celebration.
Wishing everyone pixie dust :wizard: whether you wear a pin or not.
Happy Vacation! Enjoy yours so much you don't care what other people are doing!!

:thumbsup2

That was a snarky apology. Next?

Really, why is any of anyone else's business how others vacation/wear buttons/have the number of ADRs that they do? Did Congress pass a bill and Obama sign it into law that said that YOU can judge anyone here for the fact that, since they couldn't go on their actual birthday/anniversary, they can't wear a button and celebrate a few months later? Who made you (and OP and SEA333) judge, jury and executioner? Take your judgy pants off and move on. NEXT.

You may have hit the nail on the head.

I have a cousin who is autistic and approaching that age. If you were sitting here next to me, I would give you a hug and buy you dinner for doing such an amazing job.

My DH works 2 full time jobs and I work FT as well. We don't get the luxury of taking family vacations, even quick weekends, during the year. Last year for our anniversary in Oct, DH got me a trip to WDW and our first cruise!! We are going in April 2015- we are absolutely going to proudly wear our anniversary pins because this is our anniversary trip a year and a half in the making! We went 2 years ago in Sept for our anniversary and wore buttons too. We simply can't go when we want too. It's when the park is cheapest and when PTO dates line up. We got wonderful warm wishes from CMs, Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip called to us from on top of a float and told us we were adorable and congrats (they are our favorite Princess and Prince too!) And Mickey brought us a cupcake at Chef Mickey's. Were we expecting it? No, but oh how wonderful did it make that trip!:cloud9: We also wished everyone we saw a happy birthday, anniversary, first trip or whatever and it didn't even enter our minds about how close to the actual day it was! We just knew how lucky and excited we were to be there and were thrilled for those families too!

I personally think it's silly, but whatever makes people happy. I try to keep my eye rolls to myself lol

I am entitled to an opinion, the same as anyone else here. My opinion is that the hoards of non-birthday birthday button wearers has cheapened the whole birthday button experience and it is no longer special. Back when the buttons said "TODAY is my birthday" I really enjoyed wishing young and old "happy birthday". It was met with a smile and thanks. Now older children and adults seem embarrassed and mumble it's really not their birthday. CMs say "happy birthday" with no real feeling behind it. It's sad that what was special for the button wearer and for me has been ruined. However, since Disney allows you to ask for a button and wear it as long as your birthday has been in the last 365 days, you are certainly allowed to do so. If you think it's going to make your vacation more special, knock your socks off. I just won't be "celebrating" with you since I feel foolish when I get a sheepish response.
Take your judgy pants off and move on. NEXT.
Really :lmao:? Julie, I'm going to chalk that up to you having a bad day.

The passion people have over wearing a button while on vacation astounds me. But if it's that important then good for them.

Welcome to life in 2014! Everyone gets a ribbon, nobody wins or loses, and we don't keep score. Like the HS who recently decided to not "honor" their "Honor class" because they didn't want the other kids to feel "stupid".

So in that vein, we should all wear the same badge so those darn people don't get to feel more special than me!

Good grief. We aren't taking little league or valedictorian. A birthday isn't an earned achievement. We are talking about when people are "allowed" to celebrate their birthday. I bet you've wished people happy birthday on a day that wasn't, gone to parties in the wrong day, wished merry Christmas on the wrong day and if you are liked us postponed an anniversary to a sunny day. People celebrating when they can is just nice.

I'm amazed at the people who now withhold their happy birthdays to kids because theyight be big old fakers. Pretty small IMO.
