Everthing you wanted to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW

Would uber be cheaper than a one way car service from Royal Pacific at Universal to resort at Disney???

Updated OP to reflect pickup spot at epcot as permanent. Also, "new" location at Hollywood Studios.

i'm not familiar with uber (as we don't have it in the country where we live), so a few questions:

1. we'll be staying at wyndham bonnet creek - approximately how much does it cost to get to the various parks from there using uber.

2. Do you have to have the phone app to use uber? Also, does this mean you have to have an american credit card to use uber?

i'm sure i have other questions, but that's what i can think of right now. :)

Yes
I believe the only way to pay for Uber is via Paypal. But you do have to have the App. There is no other way to request a ride

I understand that Uber can't pick up at MCO. Where is the best place for me to go with a shuttle to get Uber to take me to WDW (off site rental cars, hotel, ???).

Thanks!!

thanks for all the info RideshareRob, you've given me the confidence to give it a go in September instead of a rental car which usually spends most of it's time in the car park.

Question!

First off I have been reading this thread and I want to make sure I have everything ironed out / confirmation or correction Thanks!!!

1. Arriving to Orlando Sanford International Airport. I do know Uber isn't allowed to MCO but what about Sanford? :car:
2. We would be going to Cabana Bay Beach Resort at Universal Studios (From what I've read this shouldn't be a problem)
3. When we leave we will need to go back to Sanford Airport our flight leaves at 7:00 Am and we nee to be there by 5:30 (Again from what I've read this shouldn't be a problem)

I've never used Uber as we don't have it in my little Kentucky town but shuttles are expensive, and so are taxis. Shuttles, private cars, and taxi fares are estimating $100+ but Uber is estimating about $30-$40. We would have no stops just Airport - Hotel and then four days later Hotel - Airport. My party is 2 adults, no kids and baggage. I just want to make sure our trip is possible before banking on an Uber :)

I have read through quite a few pages and haven't seen my questions.

Can I use an ipad mini with Wi-Fi to go from hotel to shopping centres or another hotel? Not sure if the drop off location also has to have Wi-Fi or not. Or must the ipad have cell service for Uber or Lyft to work.

If the driver uses a toll road, does the toll get added to the fare (only seems fair). Just wanted to make sure I don't need any extra cash.

im not sure about the ipad thing. generally, you do need the wifi service working

tolls get automatically added to the fare

The sanford thing has been up for debate (among drivers). uber heavily polices the MCO restriction, but it appears you can order a car at SFB. Dropoffs at SFB are never an issue

Thank you for this information! We have since changed our flight and will land at MCO. My boyfriends grandparent's gave us the tickets as out "birthday gift" for our "birthday trip" but again Thank you for the information! Maybe good for the future or for someone else

Any more updates on using Uber for a drop off or pickup at Shades of Green? My husband is hoping to use one in June to transfer himself & all of our luggage from All Star Sports, so a drop off only to the gate shack wouldn't be very convenient.

Ive had a couple dropoffs in there recently and made sure I didnt look like an Uber (removed window sticker and put phone away, etc). So I didnt have a problem. I think the best thing to do is call up SoG and ask what their current policy is.

Ok, good idea. Thanks for your quick reply Rob. Very helpful!

Thanks for this thread and all the great info! It was just want I needed to understand the service that Uber provides.

I did have one question though- the amount that the app states as the fare cost, is that accurate or can the fare go up during the trip based on traffic or tolls?

Its usually pretty accurate.

No reason you couldn't use an iPad but the only way to request a car is via the app and the app needs wi-fi or cellular service to work so you would have to have it on both pick up locations.
