Everthing you wanted to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW

Hmmm...now I'm wondering. I was planning on using Uber frequently during my vacation next month to go from AKL to the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot, but was wanting to get dropped off on the International Gateway side of Epcot. If what I'm reading is correct, I can't be dropped off at either Boardwalk Inn or Beach Club in order to walk into Epcot? What about the Boardwalk itself? Can I be dropped off there?

Really weird that they require a reservation or ADR for drop-off. Not like anyone is parking their car there and heading into a park.

Well, theres the rules and the reality, which is what is causing so much confusion. Disney does not want people clogging up their hotels to pick up or drop off from the parks. And when its busy, they crack down. So its a matter of knowing exactly what to say the first time because you only get one shot. At this point though, several of the epcot resort area guys know me on sight so its a bit easier.

I'm planning to use Uber for the first time when we go to WDW in two weeks. I plan on at least one trip from BLT over to Pop Century after the fireworks and I am wondering where we go to request pick up. Would we get picked up in front of BLT or the CR?? We may opt to just walk over to the MK bus stop and catch the bus back to Pop, but since we are talking about a possible "rush" (I'm referring to the Hallowishes show that we will be watching from the TOTWL), I think it would be well-worth the money to save our sanity and use Uber.

The other times we will probably utilize Uber is going from Pop Century to AKL for breakfast and another trip from Citrico's back to Pop Century after a late dinner. I assume that both of these pickup locations will be at the main entrance to the resorts, right? Did I read something about Uber not being able to pick up at the GF? If that is the case, we can always hop the monorail to the TTC and grab a ride from there.

Any more suggestions? It is just my mother and I and we rarely (if ever) use public transportation. In fact, I have been in a taxi exactly 5 times in my 40 years of life....and I don't think my mother has EVER been in one!

Good questions! You should be able to request a ride right from the front door of BLT without a problem. Just make sure your pickup location is correct and you should be all set. You can always contact the driver through phone or text if you need to clarify something. At Pop, AKL, and GF we'll get you at the main resort entrance. No problems

As a side note, Some of you may have noticed I am using "Uber/Lyft" instead of writing just "Uber". I now drive for both and functionally they are the same for things like resort access, etc.
Thanks. If you feel comfortable commenting, do you have any opinion on if one works better at WDW over the other? I notice that Lyft allows for tips, where Uber does not. I don't carry cash at WDW and would like to tip since some rides are short. But I also don't want to select Lyft if there are not as many drivers, for example.

And if you don't want to comment on one over the other I totally understand

They are quite similar. uber is definitely used more and there are more drivers. Having said that, lyft is more selective in choosing drivers and seems to be more driver friendly in how they treat us (like allowing in app tipping). Uber also tends to surge more frequently and go higher at WDW even if its not busy. So i would reccomend having both and using whatever option is more appropriate at the given time.

For me, when its busy I drive uberXL/Select only. As it slows down, ill add in lyft/lyftplus, and if I need to go even further Ill take uberX requests.

What would be the best type of Uber ride for a Mom and two kids.... :)
Do you go from Universal Hard Rock Hotel to Amtrak Orlando?

Oh also do you pick up from the Sanford airport even though you don't from MCO?

UberX should be fine for the three of you. Itll be a sedan. If you have alot of stuff, or the kids have driven you nuts and you want them two rows back, an XL would do it. Any of those locations, including sfb, should be fine

Does Uber pick up from the Poly lobby? I will be staying there in April and am thinking of using Uber to get to AK and/or DHS for RD instead of buses.

How would you go about getting a car to go from MK to HS? Is it even possible? I have to get to the HS dessert party after a dinner ADR at MK and I'm thinking using the busses might take too long. Thank you!

The actual drive time from the MK to DHS is essentially the same for bus or Uber/Lyft. While U/L might be a little faster it has the disadvantage of not being able to pick you up at the MK. Instead you'll probably have to walk to the Contemporary to catch U/L. So, on the whole I'm not sure you'll really be that much faster on this particular route.

That's kinda what I thought. Thanks for the reply!

It will hinge on how frequent the bus from mk to dhs is and whether you make it or just miss it.

Thanks for this thread. I recently joined Uber and found it very simple to use to get around Cincinnati. So, I would like to use it for my upcoming trip but want to make sure I understand and confirm it will work before I cancel my rental car. I will need transportation for 4 from Saratoga Springs Resort to Royal Pacific Hotel at Universal early morning around 7:30 am to take advantage of express passes and then return to SSR the next evening. Uber will be able to accomplish this, correct?
