Everest

EE is great. It is truly a wonderful Disney ride. It is a little faster in places than BTM but less intense that RNR. You have to look for the yeti. I missed the Yeti on my first time through.

Didn't like it. The backwards part gave me a headache that lasted several hours.
The rest--drops, etc-- was fine.

It's amazing! Great theme, great thrill (not too over the top) - it is a super ride.

I loved it. There is about a 10 second stop at the top where the tracks are "torn" apart- it's the best view ever- take it in- look at all the surrounding parks.

Get there early and fast pass it though. One day last week the stand by line was 2 hours and the return time for fast pass was 7pm at night and that was at 10:30 am :sad2: We went the next day at park opening and fast passed it and only had an hour and half before we could use them.

Great ride :thumbsup2

It is a fun ride. The backwards part I'm still not sure I like though. You go backwards in the dark so it really messed me up the first time when I didn't know what was going to happen next. I was a little shaky getting off. But I liked it enough to ride again and it was a little easier on the stomach that time. Our strategy for getting on the ride was this: At park opening go straight there, get a fastpass (which was about a 5-10 minute wait to get a FP). Our FP return was for 11:30AM. An hour before park closing we headed back there and walked right on the ride 3 times. This was Friday night.

It was great! Me, my DS5 and my DS9 rode it twice. I would suggest if you go at a busy time of year that you go there first thing in AM and get a FastPass. We got there at 10 am, and our return time for FP was 4pm!!! If you like roller coasters, it is worth going!!!

Something about that backwards part in the dark got to me as well. It was weird, as I've never even came close to being 'woozy' on a roller coaster before. Not sure what kind of forces are at work there! pirate:

I had a dream about it last night, but I've never rode it. :) Hope it's as good as the dream!

It's a decent coaster, but in my opinion, doesn't live up to all the hype we've heard for over a year about it. To each his own, though! :thumbsup2

I have a motion sickness problem, so I really didn't want to ride it. BUT - DS7 and DS4 wanted to go.... I didn't want them to ride without an adult each, so I did it. I begged DS4 to change his mind the entire hour that we were in line - no luck. I am SO GLAD he didn't! It was really fun. The fast backwards part in the dark was great!!! We all loved it!!!!

Hows Everest in Animal Kingdom?

We loved it! :thumbsup2 We got to AK for EMH and got our FPs for later and went right on. It was so cool that DH and I got the very front for our first ride.
Going backwards was awesome. I don't think I had experienced anything like that before. When we went back to do our FPs I actually paid closer attention to the theming of the ride.

I am so excited! All this talk has got me ready for my first experience at Animal Kingdom! :)

Oh, I only have 12 more days! :cool1:

I just got back from 9 days, and Animal Kingdom was the one park I feel we gave the short shrift to. It was rainy and stuff closed...I would suggest really taking in the whole park, which is beautiful. As far as everest goes, it is really fun. My son loved it, my wife rode it, but needed a little downtime afterwards. Don't let the beginning fool you, there are plenty of thrills ahead!!!!

If you have ridden EE, what can you most closely compare it to? :confused3 My DS (10) HATES the drop on Splash Mountain so he won't ride it anymore. He also does not like Space Mountain. I know it is probably hopeless getting him on EE, but I don't want him to miss out on something he could have handled. :guilty:

Thanks!!

I would say it is more similar to Space Mountain than Slash - except it is more extreme. Imagine Space Mountain faster and backwards with a Yeti growling at you. Sadly, I think you should skip it. It is a really fun ride, but I think your DS10 would be very unhappy.

everest is a tame ride. people of all ages can enjoy this one. i think because it it new it is over rated as far as being scarey. i rode it friday morning and enjoyed the ride. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the honesty! Lord knows I don't want to ruin him for life :rotfl:!

Looks like me and the DH will be "switching off" for that ride. Thanks again! ;)

I remember the drop being pretty high, but it turned and curved a lot on the way down instead of a straight drop. I usually love roller coasters, can do the loops and all, but the part where you go backwards really messed me up for a while. I suppose it has something to do with equilibrium or visual something....I really felt like we were going upside down when we were going backwards even though I know there are not any inversions! So, I personally think it was intense. I'm glad I rode it, but probably won't again. Now my mom, who never rides coaster, loved it! I guess it just depends on how your body reacts I would think it would be scary for any child who really doesn't like drops, etc. If Splash Mountain is scary for someone, this would definitely be scary for them.
