Everest ~ Non DVC riding w/members

The theme Park BB has a thread where non DVC members are begging to ride EE with DVC members. Does anyone else feel annoyed about this?? I'm trying not to be but darn it I am. DVC is a big investment we have to fight to get perks (APs & dining) now people who don't own are enjoying the same perks. Don't get me wrong I have no problem if your taking your family member but this hooking up with strangers on a BB seems abusive. I worry that it will get out of hand and this perk will not be offered again or will be restricted next time (remember the abuse to the dining packages that changed that for everyone else). I'm sorry if I sound like Grumpy.

I don't know, I intended on just randomly catching a couple of people near EE before I went in and saying "hey, I have clearance for the preview, wanna ride?" Just kind of a random act of kindness thing. I wouldn't want to be tied to meeting someone at a specific time, I'd probably be late and let them down! If Disney didn't want non-members to ride then they wouldn't have allowed three guests- also AP holders are going to be there too, I think the idea is not only a sneak peek but also a trial run. They are having fast pass open, they must think there will be a crowd. Also I think you might be overestimating the percentage of the general population that reads DIS, or message boards in general. I don't think the effect will be all that great, just my opinion though, could be completely wrong.

Would they honestly close the attraction to all but DVC anyway? It seems like they would let anyone on if the ride was running and the line didn't have very many people in it. I understand your frustration but we really didn't have any kind of fight for this perk...they just gave it to us (as well as the AP holders). I guess my attitude is that everyone goes to WDW for one thing, to have fun...and I try to not sweat the small stuff.

I guess I need to get back into "WDW" mode and fast!!! That's what happens when you miss going one year!

The new thrill attraction, opening officially in April, sends Guests on a high-speed train adventure into the Himalayas for a face-to-muzzle encounter with the legendary Yeti.

You get to ride it. AP Holders are also invited, so it's hardly an exclusive DVC "perk".

I don't know if Everest will be the same, but when DH and I went on the Stitch preview we both had to show our DVC cards and anyone who did not have a card was turned away...

i wish i new this, we didnt do AK this trip because i wanted to wait till EE was open!!!!!bummer, but if its saying dvc member and three guests, those guest could be tom, dick and harry from the streets????

We were able to take advantage of the SOAR'N preview weekend last April. If you didn't have a DVC member card or an AP pass you were turned away. I couldn't get anyone in even if I wanted too.

At dinner last night I was telling my dd, 12, about the DVC EE preview. She got all excited. She wanted to know all about it and was so glad we were DVCers. When I asked her why she thought this her answer was.."Cause we get to go, right?" No, I was just making idle conversation I told her. You had to see her poor face drop. She was crestfallen. She thought that was my cutsie way of surprising her with a WDW trip!!! Poor thing.

It doesn't bother me. I've offered to take someone as a guest from a post on the boards (but she is not a stranger, I've known her for a few years). Just don't offer. I don't know that it's abuse where we are permitted to take guests.
