Thanks also for showing me where to find the refurbishment info. I was looking for a general list. Helpful to know they list it with the actual attraction.
We are going in February as well and this is my son's favorite ride. I have also learned that the main pool at the campground (we are camping at Fort Wilderness) will be closed for refurbishment during this time. This, coupled with the Genie + announcement, has greatly diminished my excitement for our trip
From what I had read, there are 3 foundations and the Yeti has its' own. But to fix that, you have to tear into the mountain to get to it.
Supposedly, the coaster track, mountain and Yeti all have separate foundations.

I just saw this, and I'm SO upset! We get to Disney on January 5th - the day after it closes! EE is quite possibly my favorite ride ever. I love it SO much. And we missed our last trip (Jan 2021) because of the pandemic, so I haven't ridden it since January 2020. Ugh. Guess I'll ride it in January 2023...

This is bad news. I have a reservation at Fort Wilderness and at Windsor Hills. Which one I keep depends on whether on-site is worthwhile or not. I have hopes for the all-parks early entry. The Windsor Hills waterpark is closed for refurb. the last two weeks of January. So I shifted our trip entirely into Feb. Now this news!
The EE news means that I'll never ride it. This is the one-and-done trip.
Ugh. My kids were so excited to ride this next spring. At this point, I am feeling less and less enthused about our trip with each passing day. New rides not opening, still construction everywhere, Genie+ complicating things. Sigh.
If they choose to use this time to fix the Yeti, it will be well worth the downtime. A ride down for refurbishment is never fun for trips, but if that Yeti can move again, I think it would really make that moment in the mountain truly spectacular. B mode isn’t completely tragic, but I’m sure A mode is leaps and bounds more impressive.
Agreed on the hair ties. Would be great to see the top of the mountain cleaned up a bit.
I originally planned a March 2022 trip with the entire family and asked everyone if they would be willing to switch to May instead as Everest is my fave ride! Fortunately, they agreed.
I dislike crowds more than I'll miss EE. Low crowds is why Feb was originally picked. I've been grumpy about the expected higher than usual crowds because of revenge travel and people (like me) postponing until things are more normal. So, if people postpone because of EE that is good news. The Eeyore in the back of my head says that Feb will be when international guests descend on Disney.
