Everest closing January - April

We are going in February as well and this is my son's favorite ride. I have also learned that the main pool at the campground (we are camping at Fort Wilderness) will be closed for refurbishment during this time. This, coupled with the Genie + announcement, has greatly diminished my excitement for our trip

The Meadow Pool at Fort Wilderness will be closed January through April of 2023, not this coming February:

Additionally, the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will be unavailable beginning January through April 2023 while it undergoes maintenance work. As an alternative, Guests staying at this Disney Resort hotel may enjoy the Wilderness Swimmin’ pool.

Good lord you are correct. Not sure how I misread that so wrong. Thank you for pointing it out.

This is bad news. I have a reservation at Fort Wilderness and at Windsor Hills. Which one I keep depends on whether on-site is worthwhile or not. I have hopes for the all-parks early entry. The Windsor Hills waterpark is closed for refurb. the last two weeks of January. So I shifted our trip entirely into Feb. Now this news!

The EE news means that I'll never ride it. This is the one-and-done trip.
Someone just pointed out to me that I was incorrect. The Dates are January 2023 to April 2023. So sorry to have given wrong info!

So its closing for refurbishment.
I was hoping they were fixing the Yetti but it says no.

They have said for years that the Yeti would require foundation work to fix.

For comparison, when Disneyland replaced the entire track at Space Mountain in the early 00s, it took over 2 *years*. So whenever you're looking at a refurb that's under 6 months, you aren't likely to see something massive changed or fixed.

I dislike crowds more than I'll miss EE. Low crowds is why Feb was originally picked. I've been grumpy about the expected higher than usual crowds because of revenge travel and people (like me) postponing until things are more normal. So, if people postpone because of EE that is good news. The Eeyore in the back of my head says that Feb will be when international guests descend on Disney.

Holiday weekend and Princess weekend, which they've now extended to 4 days by adding in yoga (sold out), were always going to be there

will be unavailable beginning January through April 2023

I would read that as this January through April 2023. And then I'd think "that's a lot of time". And then I'd think they messed up on the 2023 part, and wonder if it was 2022.

That’s correct. To fix it they have to take part of the mountain apart and that is going to take allot of time.
