Ever wanted something so badly you could weep?

Is there no one who can stay with your Mom? You are a good daughter.

Ember sorry for speaking for you...

This is all relatively new, and she's posted about her mom's extreme reactions to her being gone even for groceries. Her mom sounds really scared and worried, and Ember's trying to help her mom the best she can, without scaring her.

Do you have a passport? If so, then you should go, even if it's for a day. Where are you living, by the way? We could help if we knew a bit more. Heck, if you're near Maine I'll come stay with your mum for a day so you can go. She and I will have a dandy time. :)

I live in Edmonton, Alberta. The show is in Montreal, Quebec. The price for a round trip ticket would be ~$500. I may be able to get a hotel and flight as a package for around ~$600 for one night. It's a four and a half hour flight if it's direct with no connections.

Yeah... I priced it out. I even spoke to mum about it. Unfortunately, today the nurse came in because she accidentally took two of her painkillers and she's now on fluids under her skin to help flush out her system and prevent toxicity. It really freaked her out and she was pretty upset. I did take the step of speaking to the nurse about accessing additional services (hospice care, volunteers to come in, etc.) and we'll be talking to someone tomorrow. But all that aside, I really couldn't leave without causing her emotional suffering. And that's a price I just can't pay.

But THANK YOU to everyone for caring. It's such a silly thing, looking at paintings, but it really would have been amazing. I have already contacted someone I know in Montreal about picking me up the show catalog. It may not be in person, but at least I'll be able to see the studies and sketches which aren't really published anywhere else.

If something changes and I can in any way get my little butt out there I'll be sure to update.

In Montreal, until February 7th, The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is showing J. W. Waterhouse's Garden of Enchantment exhibit. I couldn't possibly describe how much want to go. During the last year of my BFA I did my thesis on him. When we travel to anywhere that has a piece of his, I make a special trip to see it. And now 80 of his paintings are on display together for the first time, several on loan from private collectors. I would place money on the fact that this would be the only time in my lifetime that I could see some of these works as several of them have not been exhibited since Waterhouse’s lifetime. In addition, they are showcasing his studies and drawing. I would hand over several body part to go, and possibly a few of my husband's...

So what have you wanted so badly that you could weep? Please tell me I'm not the only one who has felt this way!

I know exactly how you feel

In the last two years i've had the wondrful oportunity to visit The Met in NYC and just two months ago MOMA. It was the first time since art school-eons ago-that i have seen the art I studied in person-and there is NO COMPARISON to seeing it in books-none.

Especially blown away by Jackson Pollocks massive canvases-and the layers and layers of paint-not evident in the books or slides we used.

 You are a wonderful person and looking at paintings is not silly at all.
Good luck with everything.:)
