Hi All! We just made a reservation with Alamo car rental , and we signed up for their Quick Silver too.
I was wonder if anyone out there has ever used the Alamo kiosk to get their car?
Were is the kiosk located?
What info do you input on the kiosk?
Does the kiosk tell you where to go in the garage to get the car?
Are the keys in the car already?
Do you just show your license and the paper I assume the kiosk prints, to the gate attendant before you drive out of the garage?
Just wanted to know before we go because I like to be well informed and prepared! Thanks a bunch!:worship:

I have used the kiosk. It's inside at the Alamo counter area, to the sides of the main line. I've used it many times, only once was there a line for the kiosk.

I put in my reservation number (scan actually), it asks for your license (you must also scan), and then you go through quick series of questions (do you want insurance?, is the car you reserved big enough?, do you want to prepay gas?, etc). Then you swipe your credit card, it prints your slip, you walk across the street to pick out a car in your car class. Easy to find the cars. There's also usually an agent lurking around the kiosks if you need help or have questions.

Once across the street, keys are in the cars. Pick any car in your class. You check out with the attendant (open lanes show green light), attendant asks for: the slip you printed, your license, credit card you used at the kiosk and the hang tag from the car.

Have used the Alamo kiosk twice at MCO. They are located on both sides of the Alamo desks. Once you check into the kiosk, cant remember what it is you enter in to retrieve your reservation, it will print out your paperwork. Someone will come up to you to put your paperwork in a folder and will give you instructions on how to get to the cars. Yes, keys will be in the cars, you pick one out of the aisle that indicates car size that you reserved, ie, compact, standard, SUV, etc. Sometimes you will find an SUV in the standard aisle, or a standard size in the intermediate aisle, etc., which means that you are welcome to take it. You will need to show your paperwork, credit card, and usually identification at the exit, they will check it and send you on your merry way. It's really a very easy process. Someone can correct me if I have forgotten anything or gotten my facts mixed up.

We love the kiosk. When you decide on the car that you want, make sure to check for any dings or dents and let the attendant at the gate know so it can be put in the record so you won't be blamed.

any problems using coupon codes with Kiosk??

We had a coupon from BJ Wholesale Club and we didn't have any trouble. We put it in when we reserved the car, took a copy of the coupon with us but we were never even asked to see the coupon.

I came here to ask this exact question. Thanks for all the great info. This is why I love the DIS.

I do have one more question that is kind of related. I used a mousesavers code for MC holders and I understand you have to use your MC to rent the car which is fine. My BFF also needs a car and she has a MC debit card. Will she be able to use a MC debit card to rent the car and still get the MC discount or do you have to use a CC? Anybody know? I think she may be getting a MC credit card but as of now only has the MC debit card. Thanks!

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I have a note in my folder that mousesavers says that if you are enrolled with the Quick Silver, and you are using MCO airport, you don't even need to stop at the kiosk....you can walk right out to claim your vehicle and then just handle any final paperwork with the person at the "toll booth" as you exit the garage.

I have the same question as Jill. What is the value of Quick Silver? Is it similar to National's Emerald Isle? I would love to be able to just walk out and pick my car and head out. :)

If you look on Alamo website under QS, it states:
Skip the counter with the Alamo self-service kiosk. Which to me means you check in at the kiosk.

I have used the kiosk several times and it's very quick and easy. I always do the "save time" feature before hand so they already have my DL info and cc.
When you check in you scan you or type in your reservation #. It will ask a series of questions, (insurance, extra driver, fuel, etc.) they you will need to scan the CC. It prints out contract, you walk to garage and pick out your car from the class you selected, then as you exit gate you give attendant DL, CC, coupon if not e-coupon & paperwork thats already in the car. They verify and off you go! It works exactly as National, except you must check in at the kiosk first.

Alamo is on the same level as the rental car counters. Walk outside and go to the right and Nat/Alamo is the first. There are signs on the pillars that show class of car. (normally attendants walking around you can ask too) Sometimes there are lots of cars to pick from and sometimes just a few, keys are in the door, just load up and go to exit gate.

Below what is posted on Mousesavers. You can do the "save time" before you go, and it more or less works the same as Quick Silver. Except with QS you can't use any coupons, just get the discount they offer which I found isn't as good as some of the codes and coupons.

MouseSavers.com reader Paul W suggests joining the FREE Alamo *********** program before your trip, as it may reduce the time in line. Alamo's *********** program is not as good as its sister company National's Emerald Aisle service, which allows you to go straight out and pick your own car, bypassing the whole line completely. However, *********** is sometimes an improvement over waiting in the "regular" Alamo line with everyone else. *********** allows you to preregister all of your credit card and drivers license info so that you wait in the "Silver Service" line, which may be shorter. You also get a 10% discount on your rental (which can't be combined with other discounts or coupons).

I reserved with Alamo, using Costco code and Costco coupon. I also entered my QS ID. At the end of the reservation transaction I believe it gave me the option to do some sort of pre-check out, where I entered additional driver info, credit card, etc. After that was complete, I got a confirmation message saying to claim my car I should walk out, get the car, and drive to the exit booth. Didn't say anything about no longer being able to use the coupon that is applied to my ressie and shown with my confirmation information.

In any event, don't go to the main inside counter. I would either use the "bypass the counter kiosk inside" or I think we will go directly out to the lot (there are lots of signs directing you) and perhaps stop at the booth there just you enter the Alamo lot (if I recall correctly!)

I just reserved with Alamo and it said they have online check-in, too. I'm assuming that 24 hours out from your pick-up time you can go online, enter your DL and CC info and print out your paperwork. Then when you get to the airport you just go to the rental car garage and pick up your car. Can anyone confirm if this is how it works?

This is from Alamo website:

Online Check-In is not available with reservations that contain the following:

Reservation is more than 30 days in duration.
Reservation is "On Request".
Additional equipment such as child seat/toddler seat/infant seat or ski racks, etc. Rentals requiring additional equipment must go to the rental counter.
Coupon (including ecoupons) used with reservation.
Voucher used with reservation.
Applicant Business Account Number used with reservation.
Central Bill Number used with reservation.

If you have a coupon, just use one of the kiosks next to the counter. very quick & easy! I would do the "save time" before you go.

Thanks tkldisney!! :)

I will use the kiosk before heading out for my car. Hopefully, it won't be a big hassle. I have been finding that Alamo's prices are better than National's but not by too much.

This is a related question: If I booked the rental car with Alamo, but through the Disney website with my package, can I still use the kiosk? Or do I have to speak with someone directly? I know that when the Disney stuff comes in the mail they give you a voucher, but the Alamo rep never asked for it, do I use that at the kiosk? Any info would be great, thanks!

The first two replies are a little out of date. They have been doing some renovations in this area at MCO. Back in November, the kiosks were no longer beside the check in desk. They were in front of it around two of the pillars. There is also no blue contract folders available beside the kiosks. In many cases we have had to ask for these at the garage exit booth.

If you are using a coupon you can't use on-line check in. If you can't check in on-line, then I would suggest using the kiosk. The day before you travel, complete SaveTime, a link is available in the e-mail that you received from Alamo. Fill in all of your information in SaveTime. Then when you get to the kiosk all you do is scan your confirmation bar code, or enter the confirmation number. You don't need to scan any drivers licenses or anything else except a credit card at the end of the transaction.

Go to the garage and then pick out a car in your class. Take that car to the exit booth. There will probably be someone there to ask you what company you are renting with. They will direct you to the appropriate booth. National, Alamo, and Enterprise have booths there. National/Alamo renters can use certain booths and Enterprise renters have to go do a different booth. Hand your drivers license, credit card, and kiosk print out to the booth attendant. They will check everything and should hand you a blue contract jacket. They usually don't and we have had to ask for one. You may want to make sure you get the small Orlando map they provide also. It is a great map for finding your way around.
