Ever squeeze 3 adults & 2 kids in a value?

I have read all of the posts about having 5 in a value room or any other room for that matter. My fiance and I are in wdw for 2 weeks and the first week we are staying at Pop. My friend wants to stay with us for 4 days with her two kids that are 7 and 5. I have stayed at the values before and think we would be fine with space for just 4 days, but I don't like going against the rules. I have checked availability in Jan for POR, but they have none for the time we are going. We are already staying at a deluxe the second week which was a x-mas gift and can't afford to stay at a deluxe the first week. I'm not sure what to do because my friend can't afford to get her own room at Pop and she cannot stay with us the week we are at the deluxe.

Mom and I stayed at POP for one night (we arrived early) during our recent trip. WHile the room was comfortable and clean, with only 2 double beds, I'd feel crowded putting 5 people, even if 2 of them were children, into that room. And those can be 4 very long days if a child happens to become ill or even just "ill tempered".

I would call the resort and ask them if you can have that number of people in the room. If they say no, you have your answer.

I don't think you can have a room with 5 people in it. Also if you did it, I believe it would be really tight.

The values are a tight squeeze for my family of 3. Besides being against the rules, it would be very uncomfortable to fit 5, especially with 3 of them being adults.

I know someone who stayed in pop w/o asking or sneaking with 3 adults and 2 small kids and they said it was fine. There were 4 of us and we stayed in 2 rooms and liked that better.

I would call the resort and ask them if you can have that number of people in the room. If they say no, you have your answer.

Good answer. You will have a problem with early entry where a room key is required for all kids who need a ticket (age three and up), because you'll only have four keys.

Also, you do know that you need to pay an extra charge for a third adult in the room, right? I think it's an extra $15 per night.

Additionally, what does your fiance think about this scheme? My husband would be none too pleased if I announced taht I had invited a friend and her two kids to join us in our hotel room for a week. Nope, none too pleased at all...

I believe the limit is 4 people of any age in the AS resorts. This has to do with the fire codes. Tell your friend that your conscience does not allow you to violate the standards of safety. It is in her kids' best interest. Besides, what kind of example does that set for the kids if the adults are happily breaking the rules? (You could always pony up half the price of her room, ya know.)

I always ask the resort, and then abide by the requirements. It would be hard to continue to teach my children to be part of the solution and not part of the problem if I ignored rules.

Oooh, I see several issues that make this a BAD idea:

Young kids staying in the same room with an unrelated couple.

Plus as ducklite states, would your fiance go along with this?

Your friend cannot afford her own room? How is she going to afford the park tickets or overpriced food? Not trying to be harsh, but Disney ain't cheap. She may be able to find something offsite for and eat offsite as much as possible.

Another solution would be to look at renting a 1 bedroom DVC villa. An OKW 1BR in Jan is 16 points for sun-thu nights. You could see if someone would rent to you for $10 point. An OKW studio is 8 points per night, but that would fall under the "same room" statement as above.

If you just had to do this I'd go with the OKW point rental studio idea. You get two queen beds a micro & a fridge. Your cost would be around $80 a night and given you say January there are people with distressed points. If any of your dates includes Jan 16 I'd say you have a problem.

And...if you are going for that long a time will either of you have AP's? The AP rate is $49 for January...I just got it a few days ago for MLKing weekend. If you are staying for a week and not on a package an AP may make a lot of sense. The values have some connecting rooms so you could get two rooms for $100 (maybe).

Two years ago we stayed at ASMo and had 2 rooms for our 4 night stay. We're a family of 5; kids were 10, 5, and 2 at the time. I could not have handled all of us in one room. I would have lost my mind !! The bath area is small and very limited walking area in the room. How will your "better half" feel about the lack of privacy?

Go for 2 rooms or Offsite Suite !!! Four days does not seem long, but when your cramped in one room its VERY long.

We have done that, however my youngest DS was 20 months at the time so it was in fact allowed. As long as 1 child is under 3 in a crib its "legal". I wouldnt reccomend breaking the rules and having more people than allowed in the room though.
For the record, we did fine with space. We were hardly in the room and when we were we had everything down to a system. It worked great and if my kids werent above the age limit, Id do it again.

I would suggest posting the dates on the DVC Rent/Trade Board. You may luck into someone who has a February Use Year with points that are going to expire on 1/31/05. You should be able to get those points for about $8 or maybe a little lower. I still think the "same room" idea is a bad one and would recommend a 1BR (plus the studios are so cheap, the book quicker). With a 1BR, you get a full kitchen too. Plus if you can rent for $8 per point, it may actually be cheaper than booking at POR b/c there is no 11.5% room tax on DVC's.

The AP idea to grab 2 rooms is a good one too. Only one in your party needs to have an AP. If you and your fiance are going to be at WDW for 2 weeks, then an AP would make economic sense. You may want to compare what you would pay on the new My Way park tickets to the cost of an AP. If I'm correct, you can book the AP rate w/o one, but you need to show it (or the voucher, if you buy a new one) when you check in.

Your friend could try Priceline.com for a room offsite. You'd probably stay better friends if she doesn't come squeeze into your room! The rates on properties around WDW are pretty incredible with Priceline. Check out www.biddingfortravel.com to see what type of money she could save by booking through PL.

We never have a problem booking an AP rate and we go for 2 weeks twice a year, but I can't afford paying rack rates for my friend. Maybe I will check off property of DVC rentals for her. Or if your friend wants to be onsite, it doesn't get much cheaper than camping

And with 2 little ones that could be kinda fun I think, and CHEAP. Plus all of you would have your space and still be close by.
