Ever saw a scary movie that REALLY scared you?

"Signs". I've seen all the slasher movies and none of them really scared me but for some reason "Signs" really creeped me out.

Goshhh [=. Even movies that aren't supposed to be scary scare me sometimes..

I was soo scared in the Covenant. And Stay Alive was scary too.. So was hide and seek.. I think that's about all the scary movies I've seen..

OOOOH!! In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban it scared me when Professor T (I'm not even going to attempt to spell it. My spelling is HORRID) started all that chanting and stuff... That scared me..

Okay I'm making no sense /=

Mine would be "The Exorcist". Saw it when I was 16 when it came out in 1973 and was scared for weeks after. People in the the theater were crying and leaving early. I had never seen this before or since.
Others, "The Thing" (John Carpenters), "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Henry-Portrait of a Serial Killer","Scanners","Omen". All the originals not the remakes are the best, except "The Thing". I love horror movies. Am now going through all the old Hammer films, love em. And guilty pleasure "Rodan", scared me really bad when I was a kid. :woohoo: :woohoo:

I guess I would have to say the movie that got to me the most was The Blair Witch Project. We saw it the night it opened. I fell for the whole it is a true story thing.
Me, too. My friend and I sat huddled together, shaking through the whole thing. I stil think it's the scariest movie I ever saw.

The Blair witch project and The ring (original japanese version), are the scariest I have ever seen!!!

Ok, this makes my DD laugh, but The Grudge really creeped me out for weeks. I mean, I don't think I was as creeped out by The Exorcist and THAT was much more disturbing.

It wasn't even that the movie scared me while I was watching it. IMO, it lacked substance in almost every way. But, the freaky demon kid and the thing with the long hair...I dunno why, I just couldn't shake the images.

I will NOT see Grudge II. Brrrr.....no way.

As a kid I hated Jaws. We used to have a pool and I hated to be left alone in it. I just knew jaws was coming to eat me. I knew he lived in the ocean, but that overactive imagination of mine just insisted he lived in my pool too. I still think about him anytime I enter the ocean especially when I go boogie boarding. I look for him with every wave rolling in. I just know I look like a seal smorgasboard. I watched Open Water a while back too. The movie quality isn't great, but hated it because of the shark scenes. As a teen it was Freddie, the original Nightmare on Elm street that got me. I didn't want to take a bath or go to sleep. I watch it now and laugh. I still get freaked out by Amityville. I read the book and it freaked me out too. That's usually a night with the lights on. I love the Shining. I love scary movies period. I also love to scare unsuspecting friends/family by sneaking up on them as we watch scary movies! This one is funny too. I had a friend over for a slumber party, no not recently, back to my kid days we watched Old Yeller and she cried. We still make fun of her to this day and she is 30 something with two kids now. HA! :lmao:

Man, there are so many. I am a huge fan of horror movies. But, when I am home alone I usually have flashes of horror movie scenes and I completely psyche myself out.

Does anybody remember the movie "The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane"? It stared Jodie Foster as a young girl living with her dad in a big secluded house. Nobody has seen her father and it appears that she is living alone. The scene at the end with the cellar door still gives me nightmares. This was such a creepy movie.

Then there is "A Nightmare on Elm Street". I saw this when I was 17 with a bunch of friends. I was so afraid that Freddy was going to reach out from underneath my seat, that I kept my feet up on the chair throughout the entire movie. After the movie, I dropped all my friends off and I had to drive home alone. We lived in a rural area. So, mine was the only car on the road. I felt like I was the last human on earth. And I am trying to figure out how to drive and sit on my feet at the same time.

I can't remember the name of this movie, but, its the one where the girl is babysitting a couple of kids when she starts getting these phone calls. At first she thought it was just crank calls, but then they turn kinda scary. She calls the police and they are going to trace the calls. When they finally trace them and call her back the tell her "The calls are coming from inside the house!" OMG! I am getting goosebumps just thinking about this movie. It is so creepy.

ETA: I just checked under my office desk and I am safe. Freddie isn't under there.(My DH would be laughing his butt off right about now.)

Carrie: The final scene in the cemetary had me jumping out of my seat the first time I saw it.

Psycho: I saw it on late TV as a child and it's still with me. I still can't take a shower alone in the house w/out worrying Norman Bates will pay me a visit.

Sixth Sense: Leaving the theater, I told my husband how surprisingly unscary it was. About three days later it snuck in, caught me off guard, and screwed me up good for about a week.

The Shining: All the corriders.... {{{shudders}}}}

Cape Fear (the Scorsese version): That scene in the auditorium w/DeNiro and Juliette Lewis.....whew!

Seven: The most disturbing movie I have ever seen, and one I wish I had never seen. I can't even talk about it w/out getting the willies....

:scared1:

Some of the Hellraiser movies are pretty good. Probably the second one is the best I guess, they have made so many I haven't seen the last couple. The first one wasn't all that great, thought II was really creepy.

I think the Omen is probably one of the best "serious" horror movies and very well made.

"Damien look, I'm doing it all for youuuuuuuuuu" (Hanging scene) That was pretty creepy.

And the photos where the javoline kept showing up in pics of the up and coming victims. Just a good plot horror movie.

I still haven't seen the answer to my earlier question.
HAS ANYONE SEEN THE NEW EXORCIST? Which I think is a re-make of the original? And if so was it good, I'm going to rent it later and try and scare myself.

Years ago, I went alone to the theatre to see the movie The Sixth Sense. The place was empty, except for a guy sitting way on the other side. Midway through the movie, he gets up from his seat, comes over and sits down right next to me. Didn't say a word - just sat there watching the movie. As if The Sixth Sense isn't scary enough by itself, that weirdo had to walk up on me like that! He's lucky I didn't start throwing punches or something. It was so creepy! Needless to say, that movie still scares the heck out of me!

I thought I was the only one that was tramatized by that movie!!! It still scares me to death, even to this day! For some reason it really affected me. People used to make fun of me for it, now I know I'm not the only one!!

Another movie that scared me horrible is It (the clown movie based on the novel by Stephen King). :bitelip:

I'm never really scared by serial killer or gory movies, just ghosts/demonic movies. "What Lies Beneath" really scared me too. When I was younger I wasn't really affected by movies (I guess because I didn't really understand what was going on) but now I watch the same movies as I did when I was little and I get so scared! Now I just dont watch them (or even the trailers!!) because I get too affected by them and then can't sleep or be by myself.

Most recently, 'White Noise' freaks me out!!
Slasher movies don't bother me, it's the suspensful/psychological thrillers that put me in a tizzy!!

When 'White Noise' first aired on HBO I must have watched it a ton of times! And each time I was totally scared even more! :scared:
Movies like that get my head going, "is this real/could it really happen?". And then at the end of the movie is that little disclaimer type thing stating how many of these occurances happen annually or something like that!!! :faint:

I can't turn the channel quick enough when there is static on the radio or when the satelite dish for the tv goes grazy!!!

When A Stranger Calls

Thank you! That was driving me crazy.

I just wanted to add, that I was talking about the original version not the re-make. "Have you checked the children?" Scary.

I used to love horror movies, but now I can't stand them.

IT scares the crap out of me, but DH loves it. Any of the Omen movies scare me as does The Excorcist. I could go on and on...

My 9 yr old brother makes fun of me (I'm 25).

I've never been scared by a particular movie, but certain things that happen in several just freak me out.

One thing is ZOMBIES! I don't know why, I like zombie movies and all, but they just get in my head (haha.) Something about the fact that they just kill without thinking. I often think to myself, "What would I do if zombies attacked right now?!"

Another thing that scares me is in movies when characters will walk werid. Like in the Ring (or was it Ring II?) when Samara crawls up the well.. or in some movies you'll see the 'bad guy' walking weird and they cut the film so he's a bit farther up then he should be (like in the remake of House on Haunted Hill). It really makes me sick almost... I guess I'm weird like that.

:lmao: They aren't too smart either. They never can figure out how to turn a door knob to open a door. They usually just throw their bodies through a window to gain access to a room/house.

What's that?!? Better go investigate that scratching noise.

Dawn of the Dead. Didn't even make it through the entire movie. left the theatre before it ended.
