Ever saw a scary movie that REALLY scared you?

I tried to watch Silence of the Lambs alone one night...couldn't do it! Still have yet to see it!

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I guess I would have to say the movie that got to me the most was The Blair Witch Project. We saw it the night it opened. I fell for the whole it is a true story thing.

I LOVE horror films! I've been watching them since I was a baby it seems, so I've pretty much seen it all. It's weird though that I am so into horror because my mom HATES it and my dad prefers family comedies over horror. Don't know where my love for horror comes from. :confused3
There are a lot of movies out there that freak or creep me out, but I wouldn't say they SCARE me. A few that I can think of that I find especially creepy are The Shining (of course, but i LOVE LOVE LOVE that movie), Cabin Fever, Poltergeist (sp?)....ahhh my mind is drawing a blank, I can't think.

I'll tell you though, The Ring is the movie that actually SCARED me. Not really as I was watching it, but after I got home, I just started thinking about the TV thing. I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and walked through the living room just staring at the TV waiting for it to come on. It scared DH husband too which is odd because we are one in the same when it comes to horror movies!

Also when I was young Jurassic Park scared the crap out of me. I have always had this great fear of dinosaurs. I know they aren't real, but they have always scared me. Even before Jurassic Park came out we had an educational film about dinosaurse that had a scene where I had to leave the room. My mom would always tell me when it was coming up. Still when I watch Jurassic Park, I'll have a nightmare that week about it. But I really love that movie so I won't stop watching it.

When I was young, the Exorcist scared me (my 14 yr old cousin slept w/his parents for a week), & we had the book & a Ouija board - they both went into the garage. (Ouija board is still in there). Then Jaws scared the heck out of me - still think of sharks when I'm in the ocean. Halloween REALLY scared me - probably because there really weren't many of those types of movies at that time - really really scary. Drove home with the lights on in my car, music blaring & mirror facing up - scary.

Saw Jeepers Creepers with my kids & halfway through the movie I decided I really didn't need to watch anymore, so I sat with my feet on the chair, & my purse perched on my knees blocking my view. And I had nightmares after The Devils Advocate.

I'm just not really a scary movie type person.

Oooh - that's a good one! Anyone know if they still have the Bates' mansion at Universal? Mrs. Bates Skeleton in the rocking chair is on display at Planet Hollywood Vegas.

The Shining is one of my favorite movies! Talk about spooky! One of the spookiest scenes - The ghosts of the murdered twins standing in the hallway ... begging Danny to "Come play with us." Spooky!
Stephen King's story of the Overlook Hotel is based on a real hotel called the Stanley, which is said to be haunted. Stephen King supposedly witnessed paranormal activity there himself.

The Ghost Hunters TAPS guys went to the Stanley on one of their shows, I forget what all they caught on film, it was a little, unfortunately no little twin girls or anything really spooky. I think they caught a glass moving and shattering off a table. The hotel was really cool.

Has anyone seen the new version of the Shining with Rebecca DeMornay? I never made it all the way through it, it was like 6 hours long. Why Stehen King thought he needed to re-do that movie I'll never know. He hated the jack nicholson version supposedly despite the fact that it was one of the best horror movies of all times.

Showgirls. Scariest movie ever. **shudder**

The Exorcist way back when scared me for YEARS...Although I can watch it now (I think) unscared.

I just don't get scared anymore, it stinks!!!!

Although....I HATE HATE HATE "Trainspotting"...There is a scene in there that does scare me and I HATE HATE HATE it...
It haunts me.

The first scary movie I was ever allowed to watch was "Carrie". That was over 20 years ago and to this day it still freaks me out. I can watch any other horror movie by myself, but not carrie. They run it alot on TBS and I have to literally leave the room if the commercial is on!

The first Halloween is also very scary and Saw I.

The baby, right? I love that movie, but I do leave the room during those scenes...the real and the hallucination ones.

To this day...the Chilly Down scene in Labyrinth creeps me out, too. I just can't watch that part.

That movie is flipping creepy!!!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Yes, the muppet-type movie where he plays the Goblin King. That Chilly Down scene where they're dancing around the fire and taking their heads off and throwing them around... :scared: :scared1:

Someone was on crack when they came up with that.

Got it...I remember. ;)

None of the over the top horro movies really scared me, but the movie that still makes me shudder is the orginal "When a Stranger Calls" with Carol Kane. I was babysitting age when I saw that and I was never the seem. I know it was recently re made, I should probably rent it to see if I have matured.

It's the power of Christ that compels you...the power of Christ compels you...the power of Christ compels you...

I just want to add that when my 15yodd is mouthing off for something mean, DH and I start chanting this.:lmao:

You know, I'm sure I'm gonna regret posting this, as the tag fairy is always around, but as a kid, nothing was scarier than the Oompa Loompas on Charlie & the Chocolate Factory...the original version. I watch it now and wonder what the heck was I thinking?!?

I love watching horror movies! You all are giving me ideas of what to rent for Halloween :thumbsup2

Anyway the movie that bothered me the most(& I am embarssed to admit this now  )was Evil Dead. I guess it was because of the demonic possesion or something :confused3 That was years ago & now when I watch it, I laugh at myself because the movie was terribly made & I can't believe it bothered me :rotfl:

I would have to say "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer." There were a couple parts in the movie where everything was REALLY quiet then all of a sudden a LOUD noise happened. There was a woman in the theatre that actually screamed, it was funny. :rotfl2:

:rotfl: :rotfl:

My sister was scared of the flying monkeys in The Wizard Of OZ :teeth:
