Have you ever met anyone who just seems to have it all? I am talking about: good looks, popularity, self confidence, brains, weath, religion, a great career, kids and family, happyness, etc..

I just met two people like that at church a few months ago and have been observing their life since and am in awe! This is a couple that just seems like "perfect people" as described in American popular culture. Both are incredibly attractive physically, intelligent, well read, very sucessful in their careers, very self confident, active in their church, have three very attractive and popular kids, live in a beautiful home, have tons of friends and a supportive family. They also seem so happy with each other and comfortable within them selves. I could go on- and- on. Both of them appear to live in a wordly heaven.

Have you met anyone like this before and is it fair? Am I missing something?

All may seem wonderful on the outside, but you don't know what goes on behind closed doors!

What do you mean, is it fair? Is it fair that they have a good life? What kind of question is that? If you are unhappy somewhere in your life, fix it, don't ask if it's fair for others to be happy.

I think this question was meant to be "tongue in cheek" and was not asked seriously.

I disagree, and I thought jealousy was a sin, don't they teach that in church?

Having met them recently how can you know how much hardship or sacrifice they may have experienced to get to the point where you see them now?

I tend to think that there is no one on this planet who "has it all".

The OP says...
and am in awe!
To me that doesn't sound like jealously, more like "they really have it together. What have they done differently that I can do to make my life more like theirs?".

It sounds to me as though they are reaping the blessings that come with living a Godly life. Yes, I know people like this. Incredible blessings seem to come their way, but they live the life of true followers of Christ. Trust me, their lives are not without hardship and pain, but it is their faith that sustains them.

If you would like to experience similar blessings, give your life over to God and try to live according to His plan for your life. The results will amaze you.

PS I don't mean to sound as though I am preaching here. I struggle to do this myself.

I think that it general people who have it all are that way because they work at it and have had a few lucky breaks along the way. People with great family lives and friendships devote time and energy to their relationships. Usually the same can be said for those with well paying jobs and financial success. They did the tough things (often from an early age) to get to that point in their lives. It is funny but I never question whether life if fair when I see people who's lives have gone well, I figure that they deserve it. When I really question God and fairness is in the other other direction. I question it for the people who seem to have bad luck and I can't figure out how they could possibly have "deserved" what has happened to them.

The most important question here is Do they Love Disney World????

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Some people feel "how things look" is more important than reality and they can put on a good show.

What seems one way may not be! Alot of people seem to think we are rich because my dh owns his own business and we save and buy nice things, is our life perfect ? NO I have a little boy that I almost lost at age 3 and would give both my arms and legs to insure his future . It's so judgmental of people they have no idea what burdens people carry .

As Erma Bombeck says "The grass is always greener over the septic tank" ;) As someone mentioned, you never know what is going on behind the scene, what the debt load is, etc.

I do not think that it is worth the energy to worry about other people. We all have to walk our own path. I will never be Bill Gates, but he will never be me either. If you have specific things that you would like to change then you can get help working on them. However, one phone call can blow your best made plans all to hell.

One thing that comes from adversity is that I now know that I can make it through anything. I try not to worry anymore - Hakuna Matata

I've met people who resemble that description in one way or another, and actually, I'm happy for them. I hope for that for everyone I meet.

I have a dear friend that I have known since childhood who's family looks like that. They are absolutely wonderful people. She is beautiful inside and out - they have given so much to the community. What a lot of people don't know about is the father with Altzheimers, the medical crisis the husband faced and other very serious health problems. No one gets off scot free in this world.

I have another friend that I met later in life that had the perfect life, perfect child (including 1600 SAT), and tons of money. The husband developed severe mental problems later in life and committed suicide.

No one knows what trials another has or will have to face.

Yes, I've met many people who sound like the ones you described. I used to admire folks from afar until I saw firsthand some of the sadness and downright ugliness in their lives.

Years ago I did private duty nursing in a rather large city. Back then, doctors were able to order private nurses for frivolous reasons as well as those medically necessary. It was during this time that I came into contact with pillars of society who seemed to have it all......on the outside that is! Being in the homes of these folks at the worst times of their lives, you can't help but witness what REALLY happens behind closed doors. Nurses soon learn personal details concerning their patients and often details of close family members. Perhaps it's due to this that many patients feel "okay" with confiding in their nurses. I've often found myself amazed that folks I had soooo admired had lived lives I wouldn't wish on anyone. Many times I found admiration turning to pity. Moral of my story: You just never know!!!:sunny:

I ran into an old highschool friend who was always blonde, beautiful, smart and very popular. Guess what now she is still all of the above, and married to a very wealthy, important man and they have two adorable kids.

I was a little jealous at first, but I've gotten over it. She seemed so very happy, and I'm happy for her too!:sunny:

Funny thing is - they might be thinking the same thing about you.

I've had people where I thought "Wow, I wish I had their looks, their way with words, etc." only to have them say to me "I wish I had your way with children, or could sing like you, etc."

Noboby has it all.
