Weird story, my boyfriend and I are currently living in a small beach town in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia and two nights ago he was working at the restaurant he works at her and to his surprise, Kate Goslin (is that still her name anymore?) and her 8 kiddos and a couple other family members came in to eat! No one knew who they were, but there were whispers of a reality TV "star" at the restaurant... and low and behold he went outside to see who it was and there they were!

He was pretty excited about it, just because it was so random her being there, in a small little beach town in Oz!

So what about the rest of you, have you ever met a celebrity at work?!

Yep, we worked on a project with Dennis Weaver of Gunsmoke and McCloud fame. He was a lovely man but it was kind of disconcerting to answer my phone and hear, 'Hello, Amy, how are ya today?" in that very distinctive voice.

Vallie, you may or may not appreciate this, I serve Stefan Dennis at work sometimes (Paul Robinson from Neighbours) LOL
Nobody in America or anywhere else is going to know who i'm talking about.

I also used to serve Jason Kimberley, he is a minor celeb featured in the social pages of the biggest newspaper in Melbourne, I suppose (although to meet him you would not know his father started the Just Jeans group in Australia), he is also a photographer and a staunch environmentalist, very down to earth and all round nice guy.

Used to see a few famous people when I worked at the casino in Melbourne, but never really served them.

I met a contractor at Cracker Barrel in the Lexington area and Jared from Subway was eating 2 tables from us. I thought it was ironic that he passed a Subway in order to get to the Cracker Barrel.

I was once at a conference with a bunch of co-workers standing in a sort of out of the way area of the convention centerand looked over and saw an older woman standing alone near us. I said to a co-worker "She looks just like Whoopi Goldberg." Well, the woman heard me and gave me a look like I was an idiot, then nodded her head towards a sign.

Yup. Whoopi Goldberg speaking at the conference!:lmao:

I started laughing and she gave me a big grin.

Another time, in the Chicago airport, I was meandering through the airport and had my laptop case stuffed on top of my bag. Well, I was manuvering around some tall guy who was stretched out on a seat with a baseball cap over most of his face, and the top bag fell off, bumping his feet. He helped me with the bag, very nicely, but had the strangest expression on his face, like I was dingy or something.

A few months later, I was perusing the books in yet another airport when I stopped dead. There was my stranger's face on the book. (I couldn't forget him. . .that expression!)

Tiger Woods.:rotfl2:

Not met, but saw. I used to work in an office building that was right on a river...about a mile downriver from a yacht manufacturer. Well, word around town (its a small town) was that Scottie Pippin from the Chicago Bulls had ordered a yacht from this particular company.

One day someone yelled "Everyone come here!" We ran to the windows just in time to see Scottie crusing down the river test driving his new yacht.

I actually have one more that I just thought of! Some of you older DISers probably remember a group from the 60's or so called The Letterman? Well, the lead singer and creator of the group, Tony Butala used to live in my town part of the year, and grocery shopped at the store I worked at. I checked him out several times. Nice guy...he always made sure his coupons were taken off, and that everything rang up correctly! :)

When I was a Nanny I had met a few.;)

I haven't but my SIL did. She was the secretary for a lawyer in Mississippi when A Time to Kill was being filmed. Matthew McConaughey spent alot of time with her boss as he was preparing for the film. She was actually able to meet the entire cast. She said everyone was really nice and down to earth with the exception of Oliver Platt.

I worked in a high end restaurant one summer during my college years and we often had celebs in for dinner. One of the more memorable ones was Colonel Klink from Hogan's Heros. :lmao:

We had a couple celebs that lived in the town I grew up in and you would see them out and about shopping, etc.

My sister was visiting her BIL/SIL in California and answered their phone for them one day when they were at work and she and her DH were there. It was a call about a PTA meeting from Michelle Pfeiffer.

At my first job at a local restaurant featuring ice cream, I made Bill Daily an ice cream cone.

(As those of us a little older know, he was in I Dream of Jeanie and The Bob Newhart Show.)

He was very nice.

I was a CM working at the Disney Gallery Store on 5th Ave. in NYC. During my time there I assisted Maria Shriver, Harry Connick Jr., Benicio Del Torres, Tyne Daly, Joely Fisher, and President Bill Clinton.

There were STRICT rules about assisting celebrities, and generally it was the lead CM's or Managers who did. I was a lead. When the President visited the store the secret service came through and the store was virtually cleared. They closed the portion of 5th Ave. right outside the store as well. We all had specific spots that we were to stay in, and we were not to speak to the President unless he spoke to us first. He was extremely friendly and shook everyone's hand. He shopped for awhile, then handed his purchases to one of his aides who made the transaction. He did not hold his own credit card and did not sign the receipt.

Other than the president the nicest celebrity of the bunch was Tyne Daly who was just in awe of all the artwork we had on display. Maria Shriver was the most difficult....and I am not going to go into details on that one. LOL

I met quite a few when I worked at 30 Rock: cast of SNL (back in the 90's)Sting, Bon Jovi, Robert Wagner, Rosie O'Donnell, Ron Lowe, Regis, Luke Perry

I never actually met them, but apparently Steven Tyler is a regular customer of my former company. And one time, I placed an order for Ben Affleck.

Ty Pennington and the rest of the cast and crew from Extreme Makeover Home Edition stayed at the hotel my BF manages a few months back. I met them when I went to pick him up for lunch.

back in the 80's I worked for a large dept store in NYC and met a bunch of celebs.

My wife and kids met Dina, Lindsay, Allie and Dakota Lohan at the pool at the Boardwalk about 10 years ago. My wife and Dina had a mutual friend of a friend and spoke for quite a while. The kids played together.

After speaking with her mother we understand why Lindsay is the way she is :rolleyes1

Back when I used to work at Walgreens corporate office I met several famous people.

Walter Payton--former neighbor of mine but also came into work on occasion. He and his wife Connie were incredibly nice people. Connie still is. :)

John Madden-very nice guy

McLean Stevenson (from MASH--total jerk!) He actually snapped his fingers at me and told me to get him coffee. Not asked, TOLD.

Diahann Carroll-(actress from the 60's-70's). Pleasant but not friendly

Elvira Mistress of the Dark--Super nice, and NORMAL!

I used to babysit for some of the Chicago Cubs too.

There were a few others, but most of them were local Chicago celebrities that a lot of people may not have heard of

When I worked in daycare, two of the kids at the school were Jon Bon Jovi's nephews. I never met Jon, though.

I think we had the Governor of New York in our building once.

But in my line of work, there really is no opportunity to see a celebrity.
