Ever hear a character "speak"?

In 1984, my family took my sis and I to DL. We had enetered the gates and came across a set of characters- Honest John and Gideon from Pinocchio. Well, since I was 5, I remember being a little hesitant about these characters approaching me. They both came up to me together, and while Honest John motioned to my sneakers, Gideon reached down and stole my shoe! I was mortified! Gideon took off across Main Street with my sneaker! I began to cry, and Honest John stood there jumping up and down like he was enjoying himself. I really began to bawl, and my mom tried to comfort me while dad stood there laughing. Finally Gideon came back with my shoe and I remember him saying "sorry" really quiet as he gave it back. I laugh about it now, but it truly TERRIFIED me- I thought I had lost my Roo sneaker forever ;)

My dad took a cross-country motorcycle trip to California with a bunch of friends when he was 17, back in the early-70s. One of the places they went was Disneyland. They were walking into the park, carrying their motorcycle helmets, when Chip and Dale came up to them. One of them (Chip or Dale, not sure which) said to my dad and his friends, in a VERY low and VERY gruff voice, "You know you can put your helmets in the lockers over there."

Completley not Disney but my girlfriend and I saw the Blue Man Group in NYC a few years ago. After the show the Blue Men wait in the lobby for pictures, etc. We got our picture with one of them and while waiting I told the Blue Man, "Great show!" To which he replied, under his breath, "Thanks." That kinda caught me off guard.

Julia got a lot of kisses in October but my favorite character communications were with Buzz - Chip & Dale

when we were talking with Buzz - he noticed it was her birthday and he pounded out the toon of hapy birthday on his chest with his hand - she LOVED that

then we met Chip & dale and she wanted me in the picture - I said - if I am in the picture who is going to take it? with that Chip grabbed the camera from me and took our picture with Dale - then she let me take a picture of her and chip and dale!1

Hey you guys, great stories!!

I have a question. I just recently say Lilio and Stitch for the first time and loved it. Does Stitch ever make rounds in the park? I would love to get a picture with him!

We've seen Stitch at AK.

My first trip to DW with kids was in 1998. My oldest ds was 2 1/2 and my middle ds was 6mths. The oldest went to meet Donald Duck and my husband walked up with him holding the baby. He stood back so oldest DS could intereact without him in the pictures. When oldest Ds was done Donald sat on a bench and motioned for dh to bring the baby to him. DH handed him the baby and he hugged and kissed him and after a minute or two motioned for us to leave he was going to keep the baby. My oldest ds got very upset and told Donald in no uncertain terms that it was his baby and he was taking him home with us. It was very cute. I have great pictures of it.

Our last trip, Last July, my youngest ds, 1 1/2 at the time was having a bashful morning at MGM and was hesitant to visit the characters. We walked down Mickey Ave and Minnie and Pluto were out. There were no other people on the street so the characters were very playful and spent lots of time with the 2 older ds. The youngest just hung back watching. After several minutes we walked across the street and sat on a bench as we were waiting for Mickey to arrive for photos. My youngest ds sat on a bench all by himself. Minnie saw him and walked over and sat on the other end of the bench. It was so cute. Pluto then joined in the action and on all fours walked up on the other side of him. I have great pictures and the interaction, though no words was priceless. He wouldn't leave the characters alone after that.

Didn't hear anyone speak, but had a cute encounter with Chip. While having breakfast at CM Chip came over to our table. As she (yes, it was a she) leaned over, I noticed her hair was sticking out of her head piece. I quietly told her and she covered her face in embarassement and ran into the kitchen to fix her hair. A minute later a CM came out of the kitchen and while the door was open, we could see the girl in the Chip costume with her head off and people fixing her hair into a bun. Fortunately, DD was old enough to get a laugh and thrill out of it rather than being disappointed! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We didn't hear any speaking, but had a great interaction with Lilo and Stitch in AK. My son (age 12) was a little hesitant to get his picture taken with characters and his little sister. Lilo started dancing with him and kissing his cheek while Stitch rifled through his backpack! It was hysterical and we have some great pictures.

Not at WDW, ofcourse, but at USF. Spidey spoke to DH. Sounded EXACTLY as I remembered him sounding like in cartoons.

hahaha, i was waiting to hear a Spiderman tale.

Last trip I was in IOA and they do a super hero parade thing. Well my boyfriend and I were right where spider man's autograph station was w/o even knowing! So spidey comes over jogging with a bunch of little kids clinging to his shadow. He stayed at the station for about 10mins. before he had to go back. As he walked away and got back on his 4 wheeler (hahaha) he looked back at me and does the *call me* hand motion and points to me! :lovestruc my boyfriend played along and just shook his finger at Spidey smiling.

On our last trip my DD then 3 was very very curious about the characters speaking. She is extremely smart and is not fooled easily. She asked every character if they talked and they would shake their head, no, or shrug their shoulders like they didn't know. Well, she had had about enough of that, so when we went to see Captain Hook and Mr. Smee, she said, "So, Captain Hook, Where's Tic Toc?" He and Mr. Smee started running around, she was laughing hysterically. So, then Captain Hook and Mr. Smee are signing her autograph book, and she says to Captain Hook in her very sweet little voice, "So, Captain Hook, do you talk, because the rest of these people don't talk?" Captain Hook said in a deep deep voice, "Yes, I sure do." The look on her face was priceless. She was so stunned. She still says the only character who talks is Captain Hook, the rest are dressed up people.

Oh, and did I tell you I leave in 4 days or if you want to be more technical, 132 hours. YIPPEE!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :earboy2:

I have a non disney story. Many years ago in a Chuck E Cheese far far away I used to dress up as ChuckE (or other characters). It's very easy to forget you are in costome. I caught myself, more than once saying "oops" or laughing ...etc. I felt really bad, but it's so easy to do. I guess my dreams of being "Pluto" will have to be on hold until I can control myself.

MGM in November 2004, in the parade, Darth Vader was walking by and I said really loud, I AM YOUR SON. He did a 180 and looked at me up and down, turned me around and shook his head, saying NO.

It was really funny specially for my DD6.

One time at Tokyo Disney my DD was 6,DS 4.5 and I made clothing with characters painted on the outfits. Well DS had a Snow White dress with all 7 dwarfs painted on the skirt and the Drawfs followed us for over an hour. They also took the kids on Dumbo- the longest line in TD! , several hours- they were making motions to get in front of the line but finally one of them "told us" to - but in Japanesse.... and since our Japanesse was of the "Please, Thank You, Where is the bathroom, I am hungry... " we did not understand. We learned that they also speak English. Think it was Sleepy, or Grumpy that talked to us.
We had so many people taking photos of DS, the real Snow White and 7 Drawfs all together that she finally asked to change to something else. But it was great fun to "talk" to the drawfs....

Now I just kinda laugh about it the situation and am thankful I wasn't one of those kids who believed in Santa Claus til he was 29.
WHAT??? Santa isn't REAL? :earseek: :rotfl2:

When the baby was 6 weeks old, my sister and I had gone on a weekend getaway to Orlando and ended up a few days in Disney too. We went to visit Minnie Mouse and she was trying so hard to ask or tell me something... I think she was getting frustrated, putting fingers up. As soon as I figured she was asking how old, I hear in the tiniest whisper "how old?"... told her 6 weeks. She grabbed the baby and all I heard was smack smack kiss kiss kiss, the baby at 6 weeks old ate it up! Hee hee.

After a picture with Gipetto and Pinocchio...Pinocchio waved goodbye.... and burped. reeeaaalllyyy loud. Then covered his mouth in astonishment. :lmao:

I've gotten kiss noices from Minnie, Daisy, Suzy, and Princess Atta. And Goofy. :confused3 Also, I remember once while meeting Stitch, he was in a very mischevious mood andn wanted to play. When I asked him to ask my autograph book, he let out a big sigh like "I have to do this again!" he signed it and then started playing with me a little.

Whew, this is an old thread. When I'm in the park as a guest, I have never heard any speaking though I have heard kisses, slurps (Pluto), and stuff like that.

We had met Lilo and Stich when we were in WDW with a friend and her 3 boys (ages 9, 8, and 6) the 8 year old went up and she "kissed" him on the head. We kept saying OHHH Lilo is Justin's girlfriend. He was sooo cute. We are going back TOMORROW !!! YIPPPEEE and I am hoping we see Lilo again and hoping that Lilo again Kisses a now 12 year old Justin! LOL

I'm sorry to bump this topic, but I've heard Judy Hopps make a kiss sound TWICE! The first time was during MVMCP on December 16, 2016, when I heard her do it I did a double take and thought "am I hearing things or did she just kiss me?" I ended up laughing, smiling, and red in the face after the meet and greet with Nick & Judy for the rest of MVMCP! The other time was more recently during the 12:30 Move It Shake It a few days ago (May 11, 2017). She seemed to recognize the plushes of her and Nick Wilde that I bought along, along with a pin of Nick Wilde, so she gave me a big hug and a kiss once she came down from the float!
I might have also heard Judy "gasp" (it sounded like she was taking a deep breath in).
My friend, Colby, has had Dale and Stitch burp in his ear before, and Pluto has "kissed" him before!
I never knew that the fur characters could make any sort of noise at all!
