Ever have highlights through a cap?

I've done cap many, many times.....a lot less money and time away from the house. My daughter helps me pull the hair through the holes and it's done. It doesn't hurt at all.

I do mine this way too! I have people ask me all the time where do you go to have it done, I say I do it. I can't see spending the money when I can do it at home.

I used to get the cap. It's been several years. The salon I go to won't "allow" their stylists to use caps anymore as they consider it unprofessional.:confused3 It used to really bother the stylist because, apparently, my very short, choppy, layered hair is well-suited to the cap. I used to like the way it looked with the cap becuase she could pull out really fine pieces all over and I would get a nice "lightening" on my brown hair.

Don't get me wrong, the foil looks good too, but it takes twice the amount of time to do, it's more expensive, and it really doesn't look any better. But, if you want more than one color put it, I think you have to go with the foil.

Years and years ago when I first got highlight they only used caps. The caps used at the salon were much, much tighter that the ones I used at home. I don't know if they still use that kind. But the tighter cap hurt more the longer my hair was. I don't want to ever use the cap again. I only do foils now. I like the foils because she can do a a couple of different color/shades.
