Ever had anything confiscated?

Please take the guide line's with a pinch of salt to help across the pond.

Coffee makers and kettles both can boil dry and cause fire's!

The worst thing for a ship is a fire, sound's silly since it is floating on water, but the recent Hilton Hotel on Park Lane fire made 1500 guest's exit the building.
On a ship, the only way to leave "the building" is via the lifeboat's so please tell your friend to leave everything that is on the prohibited list behind or use what they have aboard.
The Dream has 4000+ Guest's and 1400 crew.
Please don't put their lives in danger for the preferred coffee or best hair curl etc!

Hope she enjoy's her cruise and has a great time!

Seriously, there are threads upon threads dealing with the coffeemaker issue:crazy2: I am hopelessly addicted to my espresso machine (so much so that it has it's own travel case and goes everywhere with me). I survived the week on the ship's coffee and didn't spend all that much in the Cove...It was not worth having my precious taken away by security or risking hazardous conditions for fellow passengers;)

I meant to say "please DON'T take the guide line's with a pinch of salt to help across the pond."

Everyone will be better off and safer if everyone follow's the rule's.

:worship: I envy your travel case for your addiction, er, espresso maker!!! No matter where we go, I make sure that coffee is a top priority... both of my boys' first sentances were 'mommy's hot coffee' aka a warning to the hotness AND a warning that mommy works SO much better on the hooch!!!!

I hadn't realized all the things people might want to bring on board, but I am glad I found this thread.

I usually am very warm while sleeping, I usually sleep with only a sheet (and that's only for my feet/legs) while DH is hogging the rest of the covers lol. That said, I have become accustomed to sleeping with the ceiling fan running. I don't think there are ceiling fans in the staterooms, are there? I saw that small portable fans are permitted with approval, and I'm wondering what kind of fan would not get approval.

Also, Valentine's Day occurs during our cruise. I use an ECV and I wanted to attach two strings of battery-operated red mini-lights to it. When we visit DW during the winter holidays, I have "snowflake" mini-lights that I put on, and I thought that red pin-dot mini-lights would be fun for this February cruise. Does anyone know if those would be confiscated? I can just imagine having to pull over during boarding, and DH and I having to remove them:rolleyes1!

i would imagine a plug in fan would not be approved. I have seen battery operated fans that work well, that might be a possibility.

See post #3, which says:

Here is a list of prohibited items from the DCL website:

. . . Seasonal and celebratory lighting strings

A couple of Christmas' ago we took a small tree with battery operated lights strung on it. I can't specifically recall if our stateroom host would have seen it lit or not, but the lights weren't confiscated.

IF the light string's are battery operated, then there "should" not be a problem using them aboard.

The rule's do not allow light string's for celebratory occasions etc etc etc, and this is where it get's complicated and common sense goes out of the window or porthole as it were, and rule exploiters try to take advantage!
As some other guest's may see you with light string's on your chair, they may then choose to disregard the rule. Some may bring old, damaged and electrically unsafe light string's aboard because 2 year's ago they saw a Lady in a chair with them and their cruise will be destroyed if they don't have them........

SO, I would call DCL and ask them if the battery operated light string's you want to bring are allowed.
If they say no, then it's an obvious no.
If they say yes, then ask them to send you an email confirming that it is ok.
When you board, if they confiscate them, you have proof DCL said it's ok beforehand, and they will store them for you until you return so no real harm done.
Also if you are requested whilst on the cruise to remove them, then they will store them until you get off so no real harm done.

Some people like to exploit every crack in any rule and will use it to their own advantage to get what they want.

Ask DCL on the phone and every option you have to use them and enjoy them is covered!

They are battery not main's operated so "should" be fine and I hope you get to enjoy them!

If you absolutely MUST have your own coffee and want it fresh, bring your ground beans in a tupperware or ziploc, get a French Press or a Melita drip filter (no electricity required!) and order hot water from room service!!! Viola!!!! Fresh coffee of YOUR preferred brand onboard with NO rules violated!!

My dignity and self respect were confiscated during a hypnotist's show, where I appeared on stage and performed Hannah Montana's Best of Both Worlds to the amazement of my wife, children, and in laws.

Other than that....no.

Been there - done that and got the t-shirt! :lmao:

After seeing threads about bringing coffeemakers, blenders, irons etc... I'm just wondering if anyone has actually brought something that was confiscated before or during the cruise???

Yes! , We have been on eight cruises in the last six years, and each and ever cruise I have all my money confiscated. :lmao: :rotfl2: ..............for give me , I just had to say that. :) HAPPY CRUISIN' :)

Eek I guess no flat iron for my hair is allowed either huh? :scared1:. Not going to to be looking too pretty!! LOL:rotfl:

Curling and Flat irons are allowed according to the response I got back from Disney.

7/25/11

Dear Melissa,

Thank you for choosing a Disney Cruise Line vacation!

I would be happy to assist you.

Curling irons and flat irons may be brought onboard as long as they
support the ship's electrical system.

You will find your stateroom to have the following electrical outlets:
-Two (2) 220V and two (2) 120V outlets are located at the desk
-One (1) 220V and one (1) 120V outlets are near the bedside table

These universal plugs will accommodate both 120V and 220V electrical
plugs.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you!

Have a Magical Day!

my wife had brough her stighting iron and left it always on the sink and never had any problems with it

Sorry to be one to list another silly question. Can you have the battery powered air fresheners for the bathroom?

i would imagine a plug in fan would not be approved. I have seen battery operated fans that work well, that might be a possibility.

From the prohibited items link:

The following items are permitted but with the following restrictions:

A small portable fan. However, please contact Guest Services to have the Chief Electrician approve the use of your particular appliance in the stateroom.
