Ever gone to LA, seen the Chinese Theater only to have that "OMG - Disney!!!" homesick like feeling go through you?

Disney has done such a great job in creating themed areas that represent real locations - I'm curious to hear stories from anyone who has gone to visit the real place only to have a homesick for Disney feeling pass over them.

I remember visiting the Badlands as a child and something about it (not sure what, I think this was before BTTRR) made me long for Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom. It only made the trip harder & longer.

Closest thing we have in Houston is the Kemah Boardwalk. It's a little like Disney's Boardwalk with the shopping/eating venues, on the waterfront. The landscaping is nice, too, like Disney's, and the whole place is well very maintained. If fact, between trips to Disney, if I need a "fix", we tend to go down there.

I miss WDW all the time, but there are little things around me that remind me of it sometimes. There is a fountain in the Gwinnett Mall that is just your basic fountain, but when you walk past it, the water smells like the water in the It's A Small World. I love that, but it makes me want to be at WDW even more. Maggie

There is a fairly new area to the Columbus Zoo that reminds me of Animal Kingdom. Lots of theme areas. Everytime we go my youngest reminds us of all the stuff at AK.

Geesh...I get homesick just thinking about it.
I need to go to WDW!

This is probably going to be the wierdest one:

Well I go to school in Maine... and all of you that live in Maine and Canada know about Irving's... For everyone else Irving is a gas station that is also a Truck Stop, usually with a "Big Stop" restaurant... Well The cheeseburgers taste EXACTLY like WDW's... it really is perfect

There's this little historical shopping area about 20 minutes from my house, and the road that you drive on to get to it reminds me of Main Street USA because it has all these little old-fashioned buildings. :goodvibes

I've had this thought before too but for the life of me I can't remember where I was! But I was totally thinking I felt like I was in Disney and actually said it to whoever was with me.. don't know who it was because I can't remember where it was..lol.

Outside the castle in Prauge there are these little tiny storybook houses. Those reminded me of Disneyland.

At the Tivoli Gardens in Denmark they have two attractions. The first one is a really cheap little boat ride that reminds me of It's a small world. When I say little there is a bit where you have to duck, it comes up quickly and it's quite funny! They have Small World like dolls behind glass cases, it's wierd! At the same park they have an attraction, if I remember correctly it's some sort of game where you might throw something at a target..you know the type. We walked right by but they play the music from the Pirates ride really loudly..I was surprised! This was well before the film ever came out too and I wonder how they are allowed to do that?

Stony Point Fashion Park mall here in Richmond reminds me of DTD. DW Lauri read back when it was being built that some of the architects and designers worked for Disney at one point.

This site has a couple of sketches and this site has one photo that might give you an idea.

I was on a tiger safari in India and the girl I was with was also a disney nut, whenever the jeep had to shoot up and down these really rough tracks we'd throw our arms in the air and shout 'ooh its just like BTMRR' - needless to say it didn't go down well with all the travel snobs who thought WDW was beneath them :rotfl2:

My friends wanted to absolutely kill me when I said at Sedona, "this is just like Big Thunder Railroad"!!!!
