Good choice on skipping DTD! Sounds like y'all had a nice, quiet dinner. Good end to a good day!
A nice, quiet dinner is always a good thing with my two. I think it was good to try and do something simple and easy.
There aren't a ton of choices there at SSR. i guess they plan on you eating in your kitchen.
smart choice to rest up so you'll be ready for a day with Jeremy
I did get the feeling from the security guard that not many people come to SSR just to eat dinner.

I did notice that there was more grocery items than there usually are in Disney food courts, so I guess they are figuring on people using the kitchens.
I was so ready for Jeremy to come back!
Great choice!! SSR is so close and the food there is wonderful...at least we thought it was good!
Friday's and Saturdays are crazy at DTD...I've done the same thing not realizing what day of the week it is....hey, we're on holidays, we're not supposed to know what day of the week it is...at least that was my excuse
I thought the food at SSR was good, too. And it was very easy to find a parking spot. I'm sure if I had thought it through better, I would have realized that Friday at DTD isn't the best plan, but like you said, I was on vacation. The day of the week isn't so important.
Ugh, the parking at DTD drives me crazy sometimes!!

Especially on the Marketplace side, if you don't get there at the crack of dawn, forget about getting a good spot!
Good idea, skipping DTD and heading over to Saratoga Springs! I would have never thought of that! SSR is kind of intriguing to me, I never thought I'd want to stay there, but the more I hear about it, the more interested I am! It sounds like you all had a great dinner there!
That's just where we were, too, over by Marketplace. It was crazy. I'm not sure if we'll be heading back over there for awhile. I'm sure I could make do with the shopping opportunities at the parks.
A lot of people don't seem to like SSR and I'm not really sure why not. Too big and spread out, I guess?

I've always found it to be a beautiful resort. It's very quiet, too. And I like the walk from there to DTD.
You deserve a good nights sleep! I am tired just reading about your day with the boys!
We stayed at SSR a few years ago and I remember enjoying the food, but there were not too many choices. I'm glad you and the boys enjoyed your dinner. Bummer you had to miss WPE, though. That is on my list of places I want to try, but we ate at Earl last time we were at DTD. Maybe in August!
It was a tiring day with the boys, but we had so much fun. I was looking forward to getting some sleep that night, though.
I didn't think there was a lot of choices at SSR either, but what we had was good, with the possible exception of the cookie. I think the boys were just grateful to be out of the car. We've been to WPE once before and thought it was really good. We didn't care for EOS, but it was extremely crowded and made for a stressful meal. Maybe we'll try it again someday.
I'm still here! I was just very far behind - but it was so much fun to read your updates back to back!
I LOVED the update from Landon's perspective.

I've done that with Henry a couple times, it's so fun to think of things from their point of view - and sometimes helps me, as Mom, see that something he says/does is reasonable for his age!
You are doing AMAZING for solo parenting. Seriously, I would have been bald by the end of the day I think!

Nice change of plans to eat at SSR instead of DTD. SSR I'm sure provided a much calmer meal too-which is ideal with the littles!
I'm behind on a lot of my TRs, too. It is kind of fun to read a bunch of updates in a row.
Thanks! It's funny, if you look at it a certain way, then everything they do makes perfect sense. I still think he was being unreasonable with the ice cream, though. He likes Oreos and he likes ice cream, and I see no reason why he can't eat them together.
Overall, our day was mostly fun, but I was glad that the solo parenting part was coming swiftly to an end. It's just so much easier with two of us. The boys both seemed to do really well with dinner at SSR. Sometimes, the less exciting restaurants work out the best for them.
Sounds like our Wednesday night at Downtown Disney. I ventured into World of Disney alone with my son in an umbrella stroller. I couldn't even move! I ended up setting down my stuff and parking it outside eventually. Tour group madness!
Very wise choice you made!
Wow, that must have been pretty bad if not even an umbrella stroller could fit through the store. I don't really remember DTD being that busy any other time we've gone. Maybe it's that new
Lego store...
We don't mind DTD in the afternoon, but we try to avoid it at night now. Wow the people can be nasty at night. That and the crowds. Very brave attempting to go with a double stroller with the crowd levels at night.
We might have to start avoiding it at night, too, especially on nights when none of the parks are open very late. I'm glad to hear the afternoons aren't too bad. I'd kind of like to go to Basin and WoD on our next trip.
Smart move skipping Downtown Disney. I'm not a big fan of the place at all for how crowded it seems to be, no matter what day it is!
I doubt anyone would've thought of you as a "weird lady who eats alone with two toddlers" if you went back to Pop!

Glad you had a nice dinner, even if the boys weren't huge fans of that sandwich anyway.
If those crowds keep up, I could easily see us skipping it on most trips. I think it's fun, for days without tickets or something to do after the parks are closed. Of course that's when most of the crowds would be there, too.
Maybe they wouldn't have, but I was just as glad to not have to eat at the same place again anyway. Too many other great places to try. I sort of knew that the sandwich wouldn't be either boy's first choice, but it was hard to come up with anything better. They sure did like that yogurt, though.
Ugg, DTD on a Friday or Saturday nigh is madness. I'm sorry you had to miss it, but it was probably for the best. Maybe when they get Hyperion Wharf up and running it will help to disperse the crowds.
Glad you guys enjoyed Saratoga. I like Artists Palate, I think that while the choices are limited, the food is good none the less. Its our home DVC resort, so I may be a little biased, but I think its a nice restful place to have dinner.
Sounds like it was probably for the best. It would have been bad to have finally gotten a parking spot only to find all the restaurants too packed and have to go somewhere else anyway. The boys would have been very disappointed to be getting back in the car without dinner. I hope Hyperion Wharf is cool. Maybe they can add more parking, too.
I've only stayed at Saratoga once, but we had a great time there. It's kind of nice to have everything spread out, and get away from the crowds for a bit. And I think the boys needed a restful dinner that night.
Joining in on your trip report - enjoying it very much so far! We go in a few weeks and I am going to have a couple of days on my own, with my 2yr old, whilst the other family members go off to the "big rides" at Universal. You have given me great confidence I can cope with just one!!!
x
Hi! Thanks for joining in! Wow, your trip is coming right up! I'm sure you'll do great with your little one for a few days. It'll be nice for your 2 year old to get to spend some time alone with you. I always have a lot of fun with my boys whenever we get some one on one time.
