Ever, Ever After: The TR Formerly Known as Wishing You Were Here- May 2011

That's too bad that Living with The Land was closed. I always enjoy that ride. I'm sure Carter would have loved it!:thumbsup2

That is hilarious that Landon called security.:rotfl2: I guess even though you had an unwanted visitor, that's still better than dialing some long distance number and giving you a nice surprise at check out.:scared1:

Landon calling security made me choke on my coffee from laughing so hard. :lmao::lmao: I'm just glad the security guard was understanding. I hope using Carter as an alarm turns out to be a good idea..I'm nervous. :scared1:

I wondered how long Carter had had that. We found the nearby CM and turned it in, much to Carter's disappointment. He thought that Kimmunicator would have made an excellent souvenir.

Poor, Carter. If you guys would just buy him some souvenirs, he would not have to try and find his own keepsakes.;)

This picture is too cute! I love how Carter has his little legs crossed.

Once he said bye, he let go of the phone and gave me an irritated look, surprised that I would be so rude as to interrupt his conversation before he was through. He crawled off and I hid the phone again.

I'm sure you'll see that look again in about 12 years! ;)

"Oh! I bet Landon called Security. Our toddler got his hands on the phone awhile ago. I'm so sorry he called you all."

Landon just wanted to have a party. He just got it a little backwards... you don't call security to start the party, security is called to end a really, good party! :rolleyes1

"Carter, 2T. Landon, 2T. Blue Dog, 2T. Bear, 2T. Daddy, 5T!"

Too, cute :rotfl:

I realized I hadn't set an alarm for our ADR the next morning, but we probably didn't need one. Carter would take care of waking everyone up.

I really, really hope this is not foreshadowing! :scared1:

BTW, as far as I know, potty trips are about 5 mins per child. Audrey Anne is not potty trained, yet. I will say that as they get more used to the concept it the potty trips decrease in frequency!

What a cute picture of you guys at EPCOT at night time! :goodvibes

That is too funny that Landon called security and also the reason you had hid the phone in the first place :rotfl:

Oh my goodnes, I couldn't imagine what it must have been like, answering the door to an inquiring security guard. I'm sure Landon's going to love hearing the story where he called security while on vacation when he gets older. :rotfl: I have to say, though, when I was reading that you all made it back to Pop, I thought to myself, "Well, now that their Epcot day is over, they can finally relax and look forward to a new day. What else could happen at this point?" :confused3
I applaud you for handling everything so well, though. Between that and the lost bag the previous evening, I would have had a difficult time enjoying the "magic" of WDW. You keep so calm during stressful situations!:thumbsup2

Love the Epcot picture!!!

So funny that Landon called security, since he was babbling away maybe security thought it was someone from the famous Brazilian groups ;)

That key lime pie looks delicious! Have never been to sunshine seasons but we are going next month!

That is too funny about Landon calling security! I got a hold of the phone when I was little and called 911... Grandma wasn't too entertained when the police came knocking on the door! :lmao:

Kate, a great day at Epcot...despite some disappointments with food.

I am :lmao::lmao::lmao: that Landon called security. And here you thought he was just babbling; he was really makign security came to check that all was okay with all of you and he and Carter probably arranged it to be sure Jeremy didn't go anywhere.

Can't wait to read about your full day at the Magic Kingdom.

It was a really great day overall, even though somethings didn't work out. Any day at Epcot is a beautiful day.

I don't know how Landon managed to call security that fast. :rotfl: I'm sure he thought he was saying lots of important things. Maybe he and Carter did plan it to keep Jeremy from leaving again. It's bad when Carter and Landon join together.

I couldn't wait to finally get to the Magic Kingdom the next day!

What a nice end to your Epcot day! I love your family photo! :)

Oh little Landon...you are so silly! At least Paul Blart didn't show up at your door! ;):rotfl: I'm glad that they investigate...

Oh Magic Kingdom is my favorite!!!! :surfweb:

Thanks! I love getting pictures with all of us in them.

Landon's always up to something. He's so funny sometimes. I'm happy to report that the security officer who came to our room was not riding a segway. I suppose it is good that they do investigate every call.

I can never pick a favorite park. I think it changes every trip.

Love the family pic at EPCOT. :thumbsup2

I have to admit that I almost expected a pizza guy at your door, ya know. Glad it was nothing serious, even if he must've made it seem that way on the phone. :rotfl:

Thanks!

When I was reading your report, I was half expecting Blake to have called security. :rotfl: I'm sure Landon made his situation seem very dire on the phone.

Had to go back a couple pages to get caught up but all those food pictures are making me hungry!

That is too funny about Landon calling security.

That's a common hazard when reading TRs. So many food pictures. :rotfl:

I'd like to know how he managed to call security. I'm not sure if it was amusing at the time, but looking back on it, it is funny.

What a great end to a great day! Love that Landon called security on y'all! :rotfl: Maybe he didn't agree with something you were doing & felt like he needed back-up! :confused3 Can't wait to hear about MK day! I bet those 2 precious boys had a wonderful time! :goodvibes

It did end up being a great day, despite Landon's call to security. Maybe he did think he needed some back up. I'm sure he was telling all about how he had to ride in the stroller all day and nobody would let him walk. :rolleyes1

Landon calling security is too funny! :lmao: What a crazy little boy! The security officer seemed nice, I would have been worried that he would be upset to show up and find out he was summoned by a toddler! :rotfl:

I hope that Carter indeed wakes you up in time, your last statement sounds potentially ominous!

The security officer was really nice about it. I felt bad that Landon had called him out there for no reason, but the security guy seemed just as glad that there was no problem and nothing for him to do. I almost got the feeling that Landon's not the first toddler to call security.

Carter had woken up a little after seven every other day, and our ADR wasn't until 8:35, so it seemed like a safe thing to do.

Living with the Land has never been one of my favorites, but I do think Carter would have enjoyed it. I also wanted to see if it would still put Landon to sleep like it had in December. I'm sure we'll ride it next time.

I hadn't even considered that Landon could have made a long distance phone call. That would have been much worse. It sort of puts his phone call to security into perspective.

Landon calling security made me choke on my coffee from laughing so hard. :lmao::lmao: I'm just glad the security guard was understanding. I hope using Carter as an alarm turns out to be a good idea..I'm nervous. :scared1:

I'm glad the security guard was understanding, too. I felt bad calling him out there for nothing, but I'm guessing that a Disney security guard handles many more false alarms than real emergencies. You don't think it was smart to rely on the 2-year-old to wake everyone up in the morning?

Poor, Carter. If you guys would just buy him some souvenirs, he would not have to try and find his own keepsakes.;)

We could have went in every store at DTD and Carter would never have found a souvenir as cool as the Kimmunicator. I sort of wish they did sell them in the gift shops. I'd consider getting two for the boys.

photopass%252520Epcot%2525205-11.jpg

This picture is too cute! I love how Carter has his little legs crossed.

Thank you! I thought that picture turned out pretty well.

I'm sure you'll see that look again in about 12 years! ;)

:laughing:You're probably right, although I'm hoping to never have to rip the phone out of Landon's hands when he's a teenager. He's strong now and as a teenager, he might could win a tug of war with me.

Landon just wanted to have a party. He just got it a little backwards... you don't call security to start the party, security is called to end a really, good party! :rolleyes1

Well, Landon hasn't been to too many parties before, so I can see how he might get the order mixed up. Maybe he intended to throw a really cool party later and went right to sleep by mistake.

Too, cute :rotfl:

I thought that was adorable. Carter's been very interested in sizes lately.

I really, really hope this is not foreshadowing! :scared1:
I'm sure it was a fail-proof system. Surely Carter wouldn't sleep in the only morning we had plans...

BTW, as far as I know, potty trips are about 5 mins per child. Audrey Anne is not potty trained, yet. I will say that as they get more used to the concept it the potty trips decrease in frequency!

I think a potty trip every 5 minutes is a great trade off for no more diapers. Maybe Carter will start to get the concept soon.

What a cute picture of you guys at EPCOT at night time! :goodvibes

That is too funny that Landon called security and also the reason you had hid the phone in the first place :rotfl:

Thanks! I love how Epcot looks at night.

I knew that Landon shouldn't be allowed to use the phone. I think next time, I'll leave a note asking Mousekeeping to leave the phone hidden. :rotfl:

Oh my goodnes, I couldn't imagine what it must have been like, answering the door to an inquiring security guard. I'm sure Landon's going to love hearing the story where he called security while on vacation when he gets older. :rotfl: I have to say, though, when I was reading that you all made it back to Pop, I thought to myself, "Well, now that their Epcot day is over, they can finally relax and look forward to a new day. Having security come knocking on our door while we're all getting ready for bed wouldn't be my first choice of things to have happen, but it all ended well. I was actually glad Landon only called security and not 911. I also thought that once we got back in the room we would just go quietly to bed and have no more incidents. Oh, well.
Apparently, I can keep calm during any stressful situation except when all the Chewy Caramel Bars are gone. :rotfl:

Love the Epcot picture!!!

So funny that Landon called security, since he was babbling away maybe security thought it was someone from the famous Brazilian groups ;)

Thanks!

Landon was talking on the phone just like anyone else would. He could easily have sounded Brazilian. Or German, since he listened to Spaceship Earth in German.

That key lime pie looks delicious! Have never been to sunshine seasons but we are going next month!

That is too funny about Landon calling security! I got a hold of the phone when I was little and called 911... Grandma wasn't too entertained when the police came knocking on the door! :lmao:

I love that key lime pie! Sunshine Seasons is one of our favorites at Epcot. I hope you like it!

That's funny that you called 911. I feel sorry for your grandma, though. I know just what it's like to explain why they came out for nothing. :rotfl:

Apparentely, both Carter and Landon wanted to have phone privileges!:lmao:

Wow, but security?? Eek, I'm glad that there was no harm, no foul.

I'm glad the security guard was understanding, too. I felt bad calling him out there for nothing, but I'm guessing that a Disney security guard handles many more false alarms than real emergencies. You don't think it was smart to rely on the 2-year-old to wake everyone up in the morning?

:rotfl: I swear every time I don't set an alarm thinking DD will wake me up way earlier than I need to be, she sleeps in!

Carter woke us up the next morning by singing Zip a Dee Do Dah. It was every bit as magical as a traditional Mickey wake up call.

Unfortunately, this morning, Carter wasn't quite as punctual as a traditional wake up call. It was 8:40 and our ADR at Kona Cafe was for 8:35.

Well, at least we had gotten to sleep in a bit.

We got ready as fast as we could, without feeling panicky and upset. It was hard to be too concerned about being late for our ADR when we had gotten an extra hour and a half of sleep.

As we drove over to the Polynesian, I suggested that we still go ahead and stop by the Kona Cafe to see if they could seat us.

"But, you're not going to tell them that it's us, are you? Would it be better to just not mention the ADR rather than showing up forty minutes late?"

"It's not like we're trying to get seated at Chef Mickey's. We probably would have been fine with no ADR at all. And if it's a problem, we'll just go over to Captain Cooks and get our Tonga Toast there."

"All right. But you do the talking. I don't want to admit we're that late."

"Don't tell me you're embarrassed to be showing up for an ADR forty minutes late."

"I'm embarrassed to be showing up for an ADR forty minutes late."

"I asked you not to tell me that. Besides, I think it's better to be late than to not show up at all."

We parked at the Polynesian and went inside to check in at Kona Cafe. I explained that we were running late and they said it wasn't any problem at all and they could seat us right away.

I offered to leave the stroller outside, which seemed to make the Kona CMs very happy.

DSCI0330.JPG

Landon was nervous when I parked the stroller, but felt better when I got him out and explained that I had never intended to leave him in the stroller while everyone else ate breakfast.

We sat at the table and ordered as fast as we could. Two Tonga Toasts, a press pot of real Kona coffee, and the Donald meal for the boys to share.

While we waited for our food, we tried to amuse the boys as best we could.

DSCI0331.JPG

Landon was having fun playing "Stuck Finger" with his water cup.

Carter loves the lights at Kona Cafe and was gazing at all of them.

DSCI0335.JPG

Our Kona coffee came out quickly and I couldn't wait to make myself a cup of it.

DSCI0337.JPG

I got it stirred up just the way I like it and tried a sip. Yuck! It tasted like a big cup full of real Kona mud.

It was a mystery. I've always loved Kona coffee, but this particular batch just seemed bad. I tried adding more cream and sugar and it helped mask the taste a little, but it still wasn't what I would call good.

Jeremy tried a sip of it and agreed that it was not up to it's usual goodness and was in fact barely drinkable.

Carter was the only one who was enjoying his coffee this morning. He takes his coffee completely dry, but enjoys stirring his empty cup and pretending to sip like grown ups do.

DSCI0339.JPG

With only a bad pot of coffee to keep us company, we waited and waited for the real food to come. The boys got harder and harder to entertain, as they were getting very hungry. I pulled out some blocks for Landon.

DSCI0340.JPG

The stroller was looking lonely out in the hallway. It started whispering to me.

"Drive me to Fantasyland...the lines are short right now...you can eat breakfast anytime."

DSCI0341.JPG

I ignored the pleas of our stroller and decided to break out the toys of last resort- the Vinylmation.

I don't usually let the boys play with my Vinylmation, so it was a special treat for them and got us through until the food finally arrived.

DSCI0342.JPG

The boys were excited to see their food coming. Carter loved his eggs and toast.

DSCI0343.JPG

Landon thought the sausage was the best part of his breakfast. He loves meat.

DSCI0345.JPG

My Tonga Toast was as good as always.

DSCI0344.JPG

We were nearly done eating when Carter grabbed his coffee cup for a drink. He grabbed Jeremy's by mistake and spilled coffee all over himself.

Carter started crying and I was terrified he had burned himself with the coffee and we'd be spending the day in the hospital getting him treated for coffee burns.

As it turned out, since the coffee had been so bad, Jeremy hadn't poured any more since it first came, so the cup had cooled off and was only slightly warm. It was the first time in my life that I was grateful for some very bad coffee.

While I was glad Carter wasn't hurt, he was wet and embarrassed. I told him it hadn't been his fault and could have happened to anybody. He didn't seem convinced.

I tried to dry him off with a napkin and he really wasn't too wet. I thought he'd dry quickly once we were outside and I thought he would calm down as soon as everyone quit looking at him.

I told Jeremy I was going to take the boys for a walk and to come and find us after he paid the bill. I took Carter and Landon by the hand and we walked out of the restaurant together.

On the way out, Landon strutted and stopped to wave to every single table we walked past. Everyone seemed to like him, but I felt that if the other guests wanted children parading by their tables, they would be across the hall at Ohana.

The boys and I didn't have too long to wait before Jeremy came walking over with a pink carnation in his hand.

"It's for you. For Mother's Day."

That's right. It was Mother's Day. We don't make a very big deal about Mother's Day. Around here, every day is Mother's Day.

"Thanks for the flower. They were giving them out to all the mothers at Kona Cafe?"

"Yes, but you left too soon, so they sent it with me."

Cool. I stuck my flower on the stroller and we took the next Monorail to the Magic Kingdom.

Too bad you woke up late for the ADR, but extra sleep is always a win in my book and plus you had no issue getting a table :thumbsup2 Too bad the coffee was well too bad :rotfl: but at least it was cooler when Carter spilled it!!

And how very nice to get a flower on Mothers Day!!

Aww, what a cute way to wake up! That's too bad you were late for your ADR, but extra sleep at Disney is sometimes a very good thing! :thumbsup2

That coffee sounds horrible! :scared1: I'm glad poor Carter didn't get burned, that would have been scary!

Mmmm, Tonga Toast looks so yummy, but I'm so afraid I wouldn't like it, I'm not a huge fan of bananas! :confused3 It just looks so good! :cool1:

Glad you got a flower for Mother's Day, that was nice of the CM's to do that for all the moms! :flower3:

Apparentely, both Carter and Landon wanted to have phone privileges!:lmao:

Wow, but security?? Eek, I'm glad that there was no harm, no foul.

Unfortunately, neither Carter, nor Landon is an authorized phone user.

I was glad it all worked out okay. I did learn that it's very important to not let the toddler use the phone in the room.

:rotfl: I swear every time I don't set an alarm thinking DD will wake me up way earlier than I need to be, she sleeps in!

We're going completely alarm free next trip. I ought to go make an early morning ADR every day, just to guarantee we'll get to sleep in. :rotfl:

Too bad you woke up late for the ADR, but extra sleep is always a win in my book and plus you had no issue getting a table :thumbsup2 Too bad the coffee was well too bad :rotfl: but at least it was cooler when Carter spilled it!!

I think the extra sleep was very worth being lat for the ADR. I bet most mornings, you could get into Kona Cafe without an ADR at all. That coffee was horrible, but it ended up being for the best, since Carter was okay.

I liked getting a flower from the Kona Cafe. :)

Aww, what a cute way to wake up! That's too bad you were late for your ADR, but extra sleep at Disney is sometimes a very good thing! :thumbsup2

I love waking up to Carter singing Zip a Dee Do Dah. He has a very nice singing voice. I love sleeping in at Disney. Before we had kids, we used to sleep as late as we wanted and mosey into the parks sometime in the afternoon and stay out as late as the latest park was open. That schedule always suited us.

It would have been horrible if Carter had been burned. We're usually more careful about our own cups not being close to Carter, but those two ended up close together and he grabbed the wrong one.

Well, I hear the macadamia nut pancakes are really good, too, if you don't like bananas. I like bananas just fine, but I think if you really didn't like them, you probably wouldn't like Tonga Toast that much.

I thought it was really nice of the CMs to hand out flowers for Mother's Day. I think that was my first Mother's Day in the parks. I could get used to it.

I love that you woke up to Carter serenading you. I'm sorry you overslept but it was probably a good thing in the long run with the little ones, but glad that Kona could still accomodate you. I'm sorry to hear about the Pressed Coffee. We've never been to Kona and are going next month and I am so looking forward to the coffee...I hope I'm not disappointed.

That's great that y'all were still able to eat at Kona...even if the coffee was bad! I'm glad the coffee wasn't too hot when Carter spilled it on himself. Poor baby! Can't wait to hear what all y'all did at MK! :goodvibes

What a great wake up call! Too bad it was late.. but at least you still got some Kona Tonga Toast!

So glad Carter didn't burn himself!

Love that they gave out flowers on Mother's Day!

Aww I love that you woke up to singing, but that would of stressed me out to be late for an ADR. I'm glad it worked out and that you got your Tonga Toast. Your coffee sounded awful!

Poor little Carter....I think it is so sweet that he was embarrassed. I too am so glad he wasn't burned!

Aww that was sweet of them to give out carnations for Mother's Day. You seem like a fabulous mom...your boys are very lucky to have you! :flower3:

That must have been a pleasant wake up, even if it was later than expected.

I'm sorry your coffee wasn't good, but I have to admit... every cup of coffee I've ever tasted has been barely drinkable.:confused3 :rotfl2: It's a good thing it was bad so Carter didn't get burnt by hot coffee though. That sure would have ruined the day.

Since you're writing about Mother's Day, Happy Mother's Day! :lmao::rotfl2:
